Rizin 20

Rizin 20

Super Atomweight Champion Ayaka Hamasaki (19-2) vs. Seo Hee Ham (22-8) [Rematch]

The Japanese champion defeated Ham back in 2010 but a lot has changed since.

Hamasaki found success claiming the Invicta FC Atomweight Championship becoming the 1st Asian fighter to win a premier American MMA title! Ayaka is five years older than her old foe and at 37 you do worry about when time finally catches up, but there have been no signs thus far as Megumi Fujii's pupil has been dominant!

"Hamderlei Silva" brings that old school Chute Boxe frenzied attack style that has made her beloved to fans and a "must-watch." Seo had a cup o' tea with the UFC going 1-3 but she's more suited to this lower weight class where she really shines.

Jesus this is gonna be fun! These ladies throw to kill and stellar kickboxing will be on display! We ride with Ayaka until someone proves otherwise but the journey this night will be fun!

WiNNER-Ayaka Hamasaki by Decision

Johnny Case (27-6-1) vs. Tofiq Musayev (16-3)

"Johnny Was The Case That They Gave Me" has been every damn place and is 3-0 for Rizin finding success post-UFC.

We're just going to be honest here, no idea who Tofiq is. Pic Johnny.

WiNNER-Johnny Case by Decision

Patricky Freire (22-8) vs. Luiz dos Santos (10-1)

The lesser "Pitbull Brother" (who can't best Michael Chandler) is fighting outside of Bellator for the 1st time since 2010! Granted we're doing a co-thing here but it's still an interesting note. Patricky is a bomber, plain and simple.

"LGFDS" is going to the shadowlands.

WiNNER-Patricky Freire by Rd.1 KO

Yuki Montoya (23-7) vs. Patrick Mix (12-0)

If Rizin is looking to get Yuki a much needed win, they signed the wrong opponent. "Patchy" is going to wreck this dude post-haste.

WiNNER-Patrick Mix by Rd.1 Submission

Rena Kubota (9-3) vs. Lindsey VanZandt (7-2)

Our beloved Rena has found tough sledding as of late going 3-3. The shoot fighter is just charming as hell but is finding the ground game challenging.

The "Damsel" has spent time in Bellator and Invicta FC and will happily engage in a kickboxing bout.

Eh, we loves us some Rena so we're not giving up on her yet.

Upset Pick WiNNER-Rena Kubota by Decision?

Jake Heun (14-9) vs. Satoshi Ishii (22-10-1)

Ishii is 33 now and what a giant disappointment his MMA career has been. Satoshi is average at best and not what was expected from an Olympic Judo gold medalist. Things just never clicked.

Rizin is really trying to get Ishii a win here but "The Honey Bear" doesn't play along and slugs his way to an ugly win.

WiNNER-Jake Heun by Decision

Jiri Prochazka (25-3-1) vs. CB Dollaway (17-9)

"Denisa" is likely the best 205er outside the UFC. The Czech has won 9 in a row and has been generally dominating, even avenging a prior loss to Muhammed Lawal.

CB once tapped out to a slowly descending elevator. True story. Dolloway has been finished by strikes in 3 of his last 4 losses and is collecting a paycheck here.

Hopefully, Prochazka has Dollaway collecting teeth as well and rolls for a nice highlight finish to up the stock.

WiNNER-Jiri Prochazka by Rd.2 TKO

Miyuu Yamamoto (5-4) vs. Suwanan Boonsorn (4-2)

We'll always be fans of "Krazy Bee's" mother bear and she's got this shit!

WiNNER-Miyuu Yamamoto by Decision

PFL 2019 Championships Predictions!

PFL Championships

Women’s Lightweight Championship

Kayla Harrison (6-0) vs. Larissa Pacheco (13-3) [Rematch]

Look, MMAFO appreciates the talent Kayla brings to the MMA world, but we gotta find somebody to test this phenom! Harrison is just so far superior to anyone near her weight class which is already sparsely populated. Somebody near Kayla, ahem, ahem, Cristiane Justino, needs to put together a super fight.

Larissa earns the 2nd shot at Kayla and stands as the only opponent Harrison has not finished! Best of luck there Pacheco, but we're guessin' you get caught this time.

WiNNER-Kayla Harrison by Rd.2 Submission

Heavyweight Championship

Ali Isaev (8-0) vs. Jared Rosholt (20-7)

2018 Champ Philipe Lins could not compete this year due to injury.

Do you guys remember how awful Jared was in the UFC? It's worse now. This fight is going to be bad.

WiNNER-Ali Isaev by Decision

Light Heavyweight Championship

Emiliano Sordi (21-8) vs. Jordan Johnson (12-1-1)

In 2018, Sean O’Connell retired (congratulations!) leaving the PFL Light Heavyweight Championship up for grabs.

We've got "He-Man" versus "Mini-Travis Browne!"

WiNNER-Emiliano Sordi by Rd.2 TKO

Middleweight Championship
Louis Taylor won 2018's title but there was no 185 tournament this year.

Welterweight Championship

Ray Cooper III (19-7-1) vs. David Michaud (18-5)

Ray looks to better his 2018 runner-up status to Magomed Magomedkerimov with a 2nd chance at the money in '19. "Bradda Boy" went 2-1-1 in this year's tourney. "Aquaman" always puts on a good show and brings action.

The "Bulldawg" went 3-1 this year fighting for MMA Lab and dude is tough as shit.

Tough earns fans but not the big paycheck. "Mr. Cooper" unloads a scary amount of punishment in what should be a brutal fight!

WiNNER-Ray Cooper III by Rd.3TKO

Lightweight Championship

Natan Schulte (19-3-1) vs. Loik Radzhabov (13-1-1)

Nathan Schulte is defending his 2018 Championship.

WiNNER-Nathan Schulte retains!

Featherweight Championship

Lance Palmer (21-3) vs. Alex Gilpin (14-3)

Lance Palmer is the defending ’18 Champ.

WiNNER-Lance Palmer by Decision

Bellator 237 Fedor vs Rampage: Fight Card, Predictions + Odds!

Bellator 237

Fedor Emelianenko (38-6,1) -115 vs. Quinton Jackson (38-13) -105

Ladies and gentlemen, we have come upon a momentous event in MMA history! The legendary, the GOAT Heavyweight, "The Last Emperor," will battle for the final time after 19 years and soon-to-be 46 professional fights! At 43 years of age, Fyodor has done it all earning titles in Pride FC, Rings, WAMMA, and World Combat Sambo. His career has seen mythic performances against Kevin Randleman, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Mirko Filipovic, Mark Coleman, Andrei Arlovski, Frank Mir, and many, many more.

"Rampage" has had his share of accomplishments (UFC Champ) and fabled fights but he's also a piece of shit human who once took his giant truck on a melee through the streets hitting multiple cars and endangering many people only to have it covered up by the UFC but we digress. The man who debased female reporters speaking to them in sexual harassing ways and generally being an overrated cunt. Still, at 41 Jackson still has power even though he quit training 15 years ago.

What we have here is polar opposites. "Rampage" conducted his entire career as an unprofessional asshole bullying those around him while Fedor was the most professional fighter with integrity who was humble to all. Now we have to place things in the hands of the almighty and always angry MMA Gods. May they see it to let Emelianko's blows fall true in the land of the rising sun that also beget Fedor's stardom. If ever there was a time that MMAFO prayed hardest to let justice reign in an unjust world, it is now!

MMAFO backs Fyodor Vladimirovich Yemelyanenko till death and we await one final moment of glory for "The Last Emperor."

WiNNER-Fedor Emelianenko by Rd.1 KO

Michael Chandler (19-5) -335 vs. Sidney Outlaw (14-3) +275

Mizzou's Chandler returns after losing his belt to Champ Champ Patricio Freire in May. Anyone else notice that Mike's last 3 losses have all been via destruction? We worry about how much damage Chandler has taken in his career catching up to him. The wars with Eddie Alvarez and the "Pitbull Brothers" have taken a toll on his durability.

Even so, it's doubtful that "Da Gun" will offer a ton of resistance. A nice Bellator debut win over once relevant Roger Huerta last year earned him this big fight.

Best of luck to the Outlaw but it's going to be tough sledding especially when Chandler is coming off a loss.

WiNNER-Michael Chandler by Decision

Lorenz Larkin (21-7) -510 vs. Keita Nakamura (35-10-2) +405

"The Monsoon" has found his rhythm in Bellator after dropping his 1st two bouts. Now on a 3-fight winning streak Lorenz is nearing a title shot against Douglas Lima if he can be successful here.

"K-Taro" is hella fun to watch. Dude goes out there with that kill-or-be-killed style everyone enjoys.

Larkin is a more well rounded fighter and should prevail here but Nakamura is the preverbal "spoiler" and is always a "live dog."

WiNNER-Lorenz Larkin by Decision

Kana Watanabe (8-0-1) -120 vs. Ilara Joanne (9-4) +100

Kana is a physically gifted Judo player who uses her power and technique to impose her will. It'll be interesting to see how far she goes with this but Ilara isn't going to beat her.

WiNNER-Kana Watanabe by Decision

Goiti Yamauchi (24-4) -335 vs. Daron Cruickshank (21-12) +275

Goiti is a longtime Bellator vet sporting a 9-3 record for the promotion. He's a bit of a fav for us since he's been around for so long and is an underrated fighter. The Jiu-Jitsu is the game as he's got to get to the canvas versus this foe.

"The Detroit Superstar" has gone 6-4 in his post-UFC career earning fan acclaim in Japan for his fighting style and perhaps the glorious mustache. Cruickshank has been doing the damn thing for a long time now and he's on a 2-fight slide and desperately needs the win here.

Say what you will about Mr. Mustachio, Daron can still let some inventive offense fly especially when he isn't worried about the return. Cruick gets crunk wit it and something crazy lands for a highlight New Year's Eve miracle! Or he gets tapped.

Upset Pick WiNNER-Daron Cruickshank by Rd.2 TKO

Michael Page (16-1) -1100 vs. Shinsho Anzai (11-3) +700

I guess Bellator has decided that "Venom" is a "special attraction" fighter because they sure as shit aren't giving this cat any real opposition after his debilitating and telling loss to Douglas Lima via knockout in May. "MVP" is exciting as all hell but he obviously isn't even a title contender in Bellator.

"MVP" wins in style here inflating his already massive ego as he bullies more tomato cans.

WiNNER-Michael Page by Rd.2 TKO

Ai Shimizu (6-1) vs. Andy Nguyen (6-7)

The "Princess" of team Krazy Bee has stumbled but once in her short career and is building the resume. "The Crasian" should be a decent test but nothing more than that. Nguyen is more about social media posts than fighting.

WiNNER-Ai Shimizu by Decision

Ryuichiro Sumimura (14-6) vs. Jon Tuck (10-5)

The "Super Siyan" hung around in the UFC longer than expected going 4-5. A gentle foray into Bellator here and if he can't win this he doesn't belong here either.

WiNNER-Jon Tuck by Decision

Haruo Ochi (19-7-2) vs. Jarred Brooks (14-2)

Yusuke Yachi (20-9) vs. Hiroto Uesako (18-8)

Kanna Asakura (15-4) vs. Jayme Hinshaw (4-3)

Sergey Shemetov (8-6) vs. Shoma Shibisai (5-2)

UFC 245 Usman vs. Covington: Fight Card, Half-Assed Musings + Odds

Main Card on ESPN+ PPV (9pm/CT):

Welterweight Champion #1 Kamaru Usman -185 vs. Interim Champion #2 Colby Covington +170

MMAFO is going to be completely honest the MMA world about this Main Event Welterweight title unification bout.

We don't care.

Both of these wrestle heavy cats are not the most pleasing to view in the cage, and both men are absolute cunts.

Granted, most people hate Colby for his Republican/racist/Trump shit but it's an obvious troll that people continue to fall for and become enraged about. It's an act, and as an act, MMAFO is not entertained. This is MMA. We would like to know who the best fighter is.

As for "Marty," well, he's an entitled piece of shit as well. Since he joined the UFC he has been an arrogant asshole, who gets into fights outside of the UFC (in PFL), can't control his emotions, and is managed by fellow garbage human, Ali Abdel-Aziz.

In closing, fuck both of these guys. We'll be tuning in to see a good fight to settle who really is the man at 170, but we're not invested and really hope there is a way for both men to lose.

WiNNER-Kamaru Usman by Decision (as always)

Featherweight Champion #1 Max Holloway -170 vs. #2 Alexander Volkanovski +160

When you go down Maxine's resume, you may notice Alex is the best fighter he has ever defended his title against. Now, Jose Aldo is still has a better career than Volkanovski, but the Brazilian was exiting his prime when he met Holloway while the Aussie is reaching his.

Alexander "The Great" has marched through the UFC winning all 7 of his appearances with a strike heavy bruising style. Volkanovski can oscillate between volume heavy or power heavy striking and is improving every time out.

But he's facing Max. We dunno what to say really because if you don't have some scary 1-punch knockout power threats at 145, you're just not going to out-work and out-point Holloway. Not until he gets old at least. Alex doesn't have that threat to scare off Mac who just bites down on the mouthpiece and does the work he always do. It is what it is man.

WiNNER-Max Holloway by Decision

Women’s Bantamweight Champion #1 Amanda Nunes -335 vs. Germaine de Randamie +305 [Rematch]

The GOAT female fighter is back again looking to get her 10th win in a row! The record is a "who's who" of the best women's fighters and Raquel Pennington (ha!). The "Lioness" simply has better technique, in-cage i.q., and power than her peers. As of late, she has looked unbeatable.

If there is someone out there that can give Amanda a run for her money, it's "The Iron Lady." Randamie become vilified for refusing to defend the 145 title she won against Holly Holm back in '17 and became a MMA pariah. Truth be told, Germaine told the UFC from the jump she would not remain at 145 but they booked her anyway. She stayed true to her word, and the UFC hung her out to dry. Shameful really. But to her credit, the Netherlander took things in stride, getting back to work quietly, while continuing to be a Police officer in her "real life." We have nothing but respect for this nice lady and the way she carries herself against a legion of critics.

De Randamie is a great kickboxer but she will admit to being a relative novice on the ground. If Nunes wants, she can get this to the canvas where she will style, or Amanda can just elbow the shit outta Germaine like she did in 2013. Randamie is a great MMA fighter, but there's just none that can touch Nunes at this time.

WiNNER-Amanda Nunes by Rd.3 TKO

Jose Aldo +170 vs. #2 Marlon Moraes -185

"Scarface" is the GOAT at 145, fight me! Fickle fans quickly forget all the dominance in Aldo's career after a single 0:13 loss, but he was amazing in his day. Unfortunately, Aldo is looking for that miracle cure and instead of going up in weight as has been suggested his entire career, he has decided to really test his horrific weight cut abilities by dropping down to 135. We'll believe it when he tips the scales successfully and how the hell can anyone think this is a good idea? Terrible mismanagement from his team and this should end badly.

* Aldo had little trouble making the weight cut and actually looked decent at the weigh-ins.

MMAFO told everyone who would listen back in '12 that "M&M" would be a future champ in the UFC someday and that still might come true, but his last performance against the smaller Henry Cejudo was worrying. Instead of employing a game plan, "Magic" Marlon decided to got tit for tat and got knocked flat. Moraes is so well rounded you have to wonder if it was just overconfidence or stupidity.

So, we have two overconfident fighters who may not be learning from their mistakes. Well hell, let's just let hands fly but bank on the younger cat who has mastered the weight cut and has far less damage on the tires.

WiNNER-Marlon Moraes by Decision

Urijah Faber +450 vs. #6 Petr Yan -525

"The California Kid" returned from retirement in July and shocked the MMA world by starching Ricky Simon in 0:43 in a single round in front of the hometown Sacramento crowd. It was the perfect ending to a legendary career, and now it's about to be eclipsed as we watch Faber come up short in every facet of the game against an opponent 14 years his junior!

Look, MMAFO has had nothing but love for Urijah his entire career but this move is senseless. Yan does a lot of the things Faber did well in his prime but Urijah isn't in his prime anymore while Petr is. Nobody beats father time forever and don't improve your odds picking opponents that are a younger version of you.

This bout makes so sense for us and we're just hoping Faber makes it to the final bell and that the money and reputation damage was worth it to "put over" the next generation. "We hates it."

WiNNER-Petr Yan by Rd.3 TKO

Prelims on ESPN2 (7pm/CT):

Geoff Neal -230 vs. Mike Perry +210

Didja, didja see Perry's nose after his last fight against Vicente Luque? What in the fuck? Mike may be dumb as shit but he's also tough as hell. That is the absolute worst nose break in MMA we at MMAFO have ever seen! "Platinum" even fought though the break and finished the bout in a Split Decision loss. Respect. We wonder how Perry will react after the snout reconstruction. Rory MacDonald was never the same fighter after he dealings with a shattered proboscis and much of Mike's game is his ability to take a punch, and continue through it to give his own.

Congratulations to the "Handz of Steel" on finally quitting his job as a server to become a full time mixed martial artist! Well deserved and Neal has been a great inspirational story winning all 4 of his appearances with brutal punching power and against staunch competition for a guy low on experience.

Despite the fact we really like Geoff, he seems the smarter pick here. In a perfectly healthy world, it's a coin-flip fight with either striker winning emphatically at the drop of a dime but factor in the gruesome injury and not knowing how Mike will returning from such a vicious injury. Neal may just be the 1st fighter to end Perry with strikes!

WiNNER-Geoff Neal by Rd.2 TKO

#3 Ketlen Vieira -180 vs. Irene Aldana +168

We've been harsh critics of the Lobo in the past but she's earned our respect with simple hard work and an obvious desire to compete.

"Fenomeno" seems her opposite. Natural talent that doesn't want to put in the work.

Vieira is ripe for an Upset and Aldana is just the woman to force it.

Upset Pick WiNNER-Irene Aldana by Decision

Omari Akhmedov +115 vs. Ian Heinisch -125

ATT's "Wolverine" is all systems go with the successful move to 185 paying immediate dividends. We are unsure as to why Ian is the favorite here but we see it the other way and rather easily.

Upset Pick WiNNER-Omari Akhmedov by Decision

Matt Brown -320 vs. Ben Saunders +290

Ah for Hell's sake. Why does "Killa-B" keep taking fights against big hitters when that is his Achilles heel? MMAFO loves us some "Killa-B" and he's been "one of our boys" for going on  12 years but we're at the point where we're just worried about Ben's future safety after 37 professional bouts and 9 (T)KO losses. All 7 of Saunders' last losses have been by finish. We really are sorry to point all this out but it's time to put one's future 1st, and retire with a career to be proud of.

Brown wins this in nasty fashion and likely retires again and we don't care.

WiNNER-Matt Brown by Rd.1 TKO

Prelims on UFC Fight Pass (5:15pm/CT):

Chase Hooper -110 vs. Daniel Teymur +100

Choosing "The Teenage Dream" for your nickname when you are 20, is just baffling. There is just so much wrong with it that it may be brilliant. A thread for another day "Hoops" has this as we bid "good luck" to Teymur and his future endeavors outside of the UFC.

WiNNER-Chase Hooper by Rd.2 Submission

Brandon Moreno +140 vs. Kai Kara France -150

"Don't Blink" coming in on a 8-fight bounce looking to add to it in a division that... exists? Does it? Does Flyweight still exist? What are we doing here?

WiNNER-Kai Kara France by Decision

https://www.instagram.com/p/B1bLDTvJfKL/

Jessica Eye +165 vs. Viviane Araújo -175

* MMAFO gives Jessica the "Evil" Eye as she botches her weight cut missing by 5lbs. which is just unacceptable.

Viviane, meanwhile, is jaaaaaaacked and looking to make a statement at 125 with a win over the former #1 contender, who got destroyed by Flyweight Champion Valentina Shevchenko in July. "Vivi" has looked sharp as fuck thus far and is on the 5-fight bounce.

We've never thought a lot of Eye to be honest and this feels like a torch passing if ever there was one.

WiNNER-Viviane Araujo by Decision

Punahele Soriano +100 vs. Oskar Piechota -110

"Story Time" (because he knocks his opponents out? is that what that nickname is about?) is a shredded Hawaiian who is just going to starch Piechota into darkness.

WiNNER-Punahele Soriano by Rd.1 KO

UFC on ESPN 7 Overeem vs. Rozenstruik: Fight Card, Picks & Stuff + Odds

December 7, 2019
Capital One Arena
Washington, D.C.
Main Card on ESPN (8pm/CT):
#7 Alistair Overeem -125 vs. Jairzinho Rozenstruik +105
Of course, Walt Harris pulled out of this fight due to the recent family tragedy. We at MMAFO want to send our best to "The Big Ticket" and his family in this terrible time.

"The Reem" is making that last dash at the UFC gold, the only belt that has seemingly escaped his grasp in his lustrous career. Alistair finished his last two foes and is still a legit threat at 39 years of age. Chin, bla, bla, bla, the guy is a veteran who knows how to play the game and fight.

"Big Boy" is getting a huge opportunity here to establish himself as a player at big heavy. Jair is in his prime at 31 and has shown decent grappling skills but it's the murderous power he leans upon as one would guess.

We all know the right punch and Overeem goes to sleep, but he's got so much more experience and offensive skills at his disposal he should be able to stay patient and wait for his opportunity to finish emphatically.

WiNNER-Alistair Overeem by Rd.3 Submission

https://www.instagram.com/cynthia.calvillo/?hl=en
#10 Cynthia Calvillo +115 vs. Marina Rodriguez -135

Goddamn it "CC" what are you doing? Calvillo missed weight for the 2nd time in her career and didn't come close being over by 4+ lbs. That is unacceptable and as unprofessional as it gets especially after all Cynthia has had to say recently. MMAFO have been champions for The Team Alpha FeMale fighter since the jump but this shit is more than worrying. Get it together girl! Alright now, "CC" has won her last two (since her lone professional loss to Carla Esparza) and has come into her own in the division but now has to show that extra gear to prove she is a true title contender.

We admit being late to the dance with Marina who has gone 2-0-1 in the UFC against really tough talent. The Brazilian will have a nice height and reach advantage but Calvillo will have the weight (obviously).

It's hard to pick against Cynthia with her solid grappling skills and improving boxing. She's just a better talent.
Upset Pick WiNNER-Cynthia Calvillo by Decision
Stefan Struve +125vs. Ben Rothwell -145

Dear Lord it's the battle of the Heavyweight disasters. Ben gives Henry Cejudo a run for his money for the "Cringe King" crown and Struve has retired multiple times while battling injuries, medical issues, and personal loss.

Rothwell has spent around 3 years suspended for multiple PED failures and has lost his last 3 fights so to conspiracy theorists we say, 3. He's big, dumb, and has some power.

"Skyscraper" must be the worst MMA "big man" of all time. Dude never learned to establish his long jab and always leaves his head straight to be countered. Stefan has been (T)KO'd 7 times and really with all he has dealt with in his personal life we worry this isn't the best idea for him to keep going.

This will be sloppy but Struve lives to get knocked out so Ben continues to annoy with his existence.
WiNNER-Ben Rothwell by Rd.2KO
https://www.instagram.com/yanamma/?hl=en
#6 Aspen Ladd -150 vs. #7 Yana Kunitskaya +130

Ladd is a true contender but she got a wake up call last out when Germaine de Randamie knocked her down in 0:16 seconds into their bout. MMAFO agrees with her that the ref stepped in a bit early but the ruling stands as the 1st profession loss on her resume. Aspen is still a sturdy, strong fighter with solid striking skills. No disrespect, but this is a "get-right fight" for Ladd.

Kunitskaya had the unwelcome loss to the UFC from Cristiane Justino but since has gone 2-0. "Foxy" is tougher than people expect and many will be surprised by her big size and reach advantage here. Yana is tough and is showing improvement as she trains with boyfriend and fellow UFC fighter Thiago Santos!

It seems like Ladd should dominate here getting an opponent that will play her game but isn't as talented. Kunitskaya will show heart but fall against superior power and technical ability.
WiNNER-Aspen Ladd by Decision
Cody Stamann +165 vs. Song Yadong -190

"Daisy Penis" versus a tune for your penis. The MMAFO Cody Stamann jokes just get better and better.

Cody hanging around just outside of the Top 10 at Bantamweight stumbling only against contender Aljamain Sterling.

"Kung Fu Monkey" is 4-0, from China, so the UFC wants him to win.

Eh, the safe pick is Stamann to out-wrestle the risk taking Yadong over a low percentage highlight finish but we do waver...
Upset Pick WiNNER-Cody Stamann by Decision
Prelims on ESPN (6pm/CT):
Rob Font -150 vs. Ricky Simon +130

Look at ole Rob Font showing up to media day parading around a couple of adorable lil' pups. Dude is fucking around and trying to become one of MMAFO's "boys." We always had a soft spot for the Sityodtong rep but now he's really pulling at the MMAFO heart strings. Font be a great boxer but he's battled injuries and may have hit his peak.

Urijah Faber returned from retirement to lamp Simon in a mere 0:46 seconds in July ruining Rick's 9-fight winning streak. A setback for sure but at 27 there is plenty of time to turn that into a moment to grow as a fighter. Simon ain't gonna stop coming at opponents though even after the loss. Ricky is pressure all day and that is just his style.

Our love of small dogs aside, this is the type of fighter Font loses to. Simon does not back down and that has spelled problems for Rob in his losses. It should be a close bout and a possible "fight of the night" candidate.

WiNNER-Ricky Simon by Decision

Thiago Alves +225 vs. Tim Means -265

Who wants to remain employed in the UFC?

Alves is 36 but 484 in fight years and should be retired after a career of fighting more injuries than opponents.

The "Dirty Bird" really broke our hearts in his failed attempts against scumbag Alex Oliveira and may be nearing the end of his relevance but he still has those "hellbows" and size on his side. That and Alves has been done since 2016.

Billy Quarantillo -320 vs. Jacob Kilburn +240

A couple of unproven up-and-comers here. We're not sure why Kilburn is getting the shot here as he could use some more seasoning but whatever. It's Billy's fight to lose and he should be able to ground the youngster.

Bryce Mitchell -105 vs. Matt Sayles -115

Bryce, Bryce, Bryce. Why does this name ring a bell in the vast landscape of MMA? Ah yes. This is the dude that wrapped his own testicles around a power drill and then told the world about it! Wow. Anywho, "Ball Snag" Bryce is a mere 25 years of age but undefeated and undaunted as he presses forward forcing scrambles and keeping opponents on their heels.

"Robo" is a fine enough fighter but seems to not be able to reach his potential.

Ya gotta like Bryce to tangle up his opponent in holds before powering up to end the night.

Prelims on ESPN+ (4:30pm/CT):
Joe Solecki -325 vs. Matt Wiman

Anybody know what the fuck Wiman is doing these days? Matt returns after a 4 and a half year absence in July, and now he's back again against an opponent 10 years his junior. "Handsome" Matt has competed for the UFC for almost 13 years now and is likely just testing himself and isn't looking for glory or success. We respect that and he's a pretty interesting fella if you get a chance to hear his life views.

Joe is on a 3-fight bounce coming off the Contender Series and is a slick submission fighter.

It's hard to pick Wiman when we're not sure of his motives this late in the game but he's also a "live dog" with his veteran savvy pitted against a rookie. Toss up though the odds have Matt as the heavy dog.

Mallory Martin +240 vs. Virna Jandiroba -280

Mallory is the 3rd fighter slated against Virna for this event which is never ideal. Martin has started to come into her own on a 5-fight winning streak as a bruiser who likes to shit talk opponents while punishing them! That's fun.

"Carcara's" UFC debut was spoiled by Carla Esparza in April but she is a former Invicta FC Champion and a staunch grappler in her own right.

May be a bit too much too soon for Martin. There's potential in her but she's green and facing a well tested veteran.

Makhmud Muradov -410 vs. Trevor Smith +330

More Middleweights reporting for the Light Heavyweight division.

The Uzbekistanian is coming in hot with a 12-fight streak behind him and taking this bout on short-notice. Makhmud is a striking artist with finishing power and entering his prime.

This is gonna be it for "Hot Sauce" in the UFC. 5-6 for the promotion, fights with the speed of a 55 year old, but thanks for the memories.
