Justin Wilcox and Gesias Cavalcante battle to a No Decision as the "Silverback" was inadvertently poked in the eye and the doctors would not let him continue.

Can we stop sucking off Hershel Walker for the sake of MMA’s mainstream popularity already? He claims he is not retiring and wants a “name” fighter in his next outing.

Chad Griggs defeats Valentijn Overeem by Tapout due to strikes. The “Gravedigger” gains a throw on Valentijn followed by some G&P and the kid straight taps out like a bitch. At 1st everyone thought it was an early stoppage and then the arena saw the replay and began to boo Overeem (ha!). Talk about zero heart and just collecting a check.

Daniel Cormier defeats Jeff Monson by Unanimous Decision.
Rd.1 The bulbous "Snowman" claims win or lose he is moving down to Light Heavyweight after this bout. I do not see how that is possible with his muscle mass. Jeff has trouble getting any work done early as Daniel uses speedy combinations to tenderize Monson. 10-9 Cormier

Rd.2 The two time Olympian goes to work quickly but the bulls battle a bit for position. Things slow way down and we begin to waltz. Some solid body shots land for Cormier but a monotonous round. 10-9 Cormier

Rd.3 For the final round Daniel goes to work and begins to stagger the "Snowman" who fails at a takedown and is bleeding from the mouth. Daniel takes advantage by leaning aggressively on his opponent before ending in cruise control. 10-9 Cormier

MMAFO and the official judges all score this bout 30-27 to Daniel Cormier.

Jorge Masvidal defeats KJ Noons by Unanimous Decision.

Rd.1 Get out your mousse, the guy who actually believes he beat Nick Diaz in their rematch, is here. They trade a bit early then a nice knee lands for Jorge and then gets a takedown though he does nothing with it. More knees land for Masvidal and KJ begins to bleed quite a bit from his forehead. Jorge lands another huge knee that drops KJ and then Masvidal unloads G&P punishment as Noons is pouring blood. Time saves Noons who looks dazed in the corner. 10-9 Masvidal

Rd.2 We trade and grade as Noons begins to bleed again. Masvidal gains top position again and out works KJ for the round. Noons is a bloody mess. 10-9 Masvidal

Rd.3 I switched to the England stream and I shit you not the announcer saw Michael Irvin on the monitor and said, "look at the reaction on Hershel Walker's face." Masvidal keeps looking for the takedown and finally gets it as KJ misses with his punches. Jorge can't keep Noons down but then gains some control and just bullies the Hawaiian. 10-9 Masvidal

* Its was a clear cut clean sweep and now Jorge Masvidal is the new #1 Contender to get his ass handed to him by Lightweight Champion Gilbert Melendez.

Josh Barnett defeats Brett Rogers by Rd.2 Arm-Triangle Submission.

Rd.1 The "Chubby Assassin" slams Rogers down and wallows on top of him for the full 5 minutes. 10-9 Barnett

Rd.2 Josh opens up the striking and Rogers goes for the takedown though Barnett ends up in top control. Barnett works for the arm-triangle submission and the crowd is booing for some reason. Josh locks it in and the "Grim" taps out leading to the victorious Barnett throat slash!

* Its the win Josh needed and Brett cannot handle any ground game. Barnett just takes the mic from Johnson and cuts a perfect pro wrestling promo. "Submission Of The Night"

** Funny to hear Mauro Ranallo accidentally refer to Frank Shamrock as "Ken." Frank's braces were not amused.

Alistair Overeem defeats Fabricio Werdum by Unanimous Decision.

I love the "Reem's" casual trash talk. "We can fight on the feet or it can take a bit longer. If he comes to fight I will destroy him in one round." The "Demolition Man" comes in wearing a Dallas Mavericks NBA Champions flag around his shoulders and the Texas crowd erupts. Overeem weighed in at 417 lbs. tonight.

Rd.1 Overeem is working low and avoids five quick takedown attempts which he shrugged off with ease. Fabricio tries pulling guard twice and Alistair holds his hands out calling on his opponent to the delight of the crowd. Overeem is being too cautious and Fabricio is landing more often. A left hook hurts Werdum who pulls guard. Overeem avoids him and then slams Werdum down though Fabricio stays there and taunts the multi-champion. Pulling guard Alistair ends the round on top but didn't amount an offense and Werdum did. 10-9 Werdum

Rd.2 The uber-knee lands early but Werdum trips Alistair who escapes. Fabricio really landing some strikes now but then is gassed out! Overeem begins to land heavy blows and Fabricio takes a ton of time getting back to his feet now. A right hand hurts Werdum who pulls guard. He continues to pull guard after eating a shot and getting up as lazily as possible while Overeem stalks around the outside. Alistair contently stays in Werdum's guard until the round ends. 10-9 Overeem

Rd.3 Werdum opens the final round with some good clinch work a right hand hurts him and yet again he pulls guard as the chorus of boos rains down. Fabricio is clutching to the "Demolition Man" for dear life and taunts him from his back. Stuck in Werdum's guard the clock ticks away as the crowd begins to chant "Stand them up. Stand them up." Overeem lands here and there but its not impressive. Werdum looks for a kneebar that isn't close as time ends and the crowd voices their displeasure. 10-9 Overeem

MMAFO scored the bout 29-28 for Alistair Overeem as did one of the official judges.

* Both men looked very slow and Werdum is embracing the "bad guy" role these days. Overeem tries to pretend he isn't exhausted in his interview and Antonio Silva has just become a live pick for the next round with Alistair looking very mortal.

7-2 on the picks with the ND and if you listened to me you made $$$$ on Mr. Chad Griggs. A lackluster night of fights with Daniel Cormier doing well but really only Jorge Masvidal impressing. For the tournament we had a vastly outmatched man on the ground and one who would not stop retreating there.

Everything is bigger in Texas at this card filled with Heavyweight action and free fights on HDNet. Gina Carano pulled out of her fight and nobody knows why though the rumor mill says she is pregnant so sorry fellas.

Strikeforce & DREAM Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem (34-11) vs. Fabricio Werdum (14-4-1) [Rematch] I still find Werdum one of the most overrated fighters of all time even after the "triangle heard round the world." Fabricio's striking is still rudimentary and he's not so durable especially against a "Demolition Man" who ruins people with one knee to the body. Alistair sprawls away from early trouble and then curb stomps Werdum into re-thinking his recently cocky attitude.

Josh Barnett (29-5) vs. Brett Rogers (11-2) Does anyone really think the "Grim" has anything other than a puncher's chance here? The former tire mechanic has been training hard and doing all the right things but a ready and cleared Barnett is one of the best Heavyweights in the world. The Pete Rose of MMA falls out of rankings because he always fails drugs tests and battles commissions leading to him competing infrequently and mainly in the far east. But make no mistake, the cat has skillz everywhere and a killer instinct most lack despite the usually loud bravado. The catch-pro-wrestler will take Brett to the floor and embarrass him with elite grappling skills before cutting a promo on the next unlucky mother fucker.

K.J. Noons (10-3) vs. Jorge Masvidal (21-6) I'm almost so blinded by my hatred of KJ that I cannot rationally pick his fights. "Gamebred" brings game but its average on all fronts while Noons lacks an all around game but sports sterling stand up striking. Jorge will look to brawl preceding his demise.

Daniel Cormier (7-0) vs. Jeff Monson (42-11) Our resident wrestling super-star is back to take on the road tested grizzled veteran that is the epitome of Anarchy! The "Snowman" is always going to be a Heavyweight gatekeeper, and thus the perfect test for Oklahoma's own. I like Daniel's endurance to become a factor with the notoriously oxygen hungry muscles of Jeff slowing him as the bout drags on. Its going to be a fun war but the younger, fresher fighter pulls away at the end for a clear winner.

Valentijn Overeem (29-25) vs. Chad Griggs (10-1) "Mutton Chops" is back displaying a little skill and a lot of heart against the "other" Overeem brother. Valentijn doesn't try that hard so never look for him to come into a bout with a plan, proper training, or ambition. Overeem has all the skills to win this but will probably find the juggernaut all over him much to his dismay. I wouldn't tell someone to bet on this, but I am. This is just be a paycheck at this point to Valentine.

Gesias Cavalcante (15-4-1) vs. Justin Wilcox (11-3) I have not seen "JZ" look like himself since he has come back from the most recent of knee surgeries and injuries. "JZ" used to be a Top 5 Lightweight in 2007, but times have been cruel as after rehab he has lost 3 of 4. The Lil' "Silverback" has ran off 6 wins in a row dominating with his amateur wrestling and non-stop kill ethic. An opponent that is fast, strong, and can take you down while dominating from the top is kryptonite to Cavalcante who stares at ceiling lights all evening.

Conor Huen (8-4) vs. Magno Almeida (9-1) The "Hurricane" has come in with as a slight breeze losing his last two bouts while Magno (great name) has won 5 in a row but is stepping onto the big stage for the 1st time. Heun is the favorite but I like Magno (great name) he impose his grappling game that Conor cannot win.

This doesn't seem like too hard of a card to pick save for maybe the prelims, but we gotta lose that 3rd loss MMAFO keeps accruing recently. For the gamblers, look toward Chad Griggs @-130 and maybe parlay that with Daniel Cormier or Alistair Overeem.

UFC 131 Results: JDS Dominant, Florian Fantastic, & "Pee Wee" Is Peachy

Darren Elkins Upsets Michihiro Omigawa by Unanimous Decision. Dana White was so upset with the Decision that he said Omigawa will get his fight bonus anyway! Another judging robbery and again nothing gets done about it.

Joey Beltran defeats Aaron Rosa by TKO in the 3rd round. The big chubbies exchanged some wild flurries but neither was landing though the crowd didn't seem to mind. Rosa ate a couple of illegal knees but recovered and opens up on Joey. Then the 2nd illegal shot of the round and we halt action again. Once re-started, Aaron finds his grove but not enough to steal the round. In the end, Beltran tee's off on Rosa and drag him to the canvas. Its G&P as the "Mexicutioner" bloodies up his opponent and the referee ends the bout. A huge win for an always exciting fighter who really needed this victory. Rosa had a good showing but his left eye was a mess.

Dustin Poirier defeats Jason Young by Unanimous Decision.

Nick Ring rode James Head who submitted to the RNC. Nick is just really good and taking a fellas back and digging in deep. Normally a power bottom, Nick pitched the classic submission as Head was complaining to the referee about something and holding his shorts.

Krzysztof Soszynski defeats Mike Massenzio by Unanimous Decision.

Chris Weidman taps Jesse Bongfeldt via Guillotine Choke. Ya just don't tapout to a standing guillotine in this day and age. I'm just saying. "Submission Of The Night" I suppose.

Sam Stout KO's Yves Edwards in the very 1st round. Yves looked comfortable and calm then blam, Stout KO'd him out into dreamland! Wow, Edwards was out before he hit the canvas and unfortunately, his head was the last thing that snapped to the ground. A highlight KO to say the least and we sadly bid farewell to Yves final UFC run. "KO Of The Night"

Donald Cerrone defeats Vagner Rocha by Unanimous Decision. The "Cowboy" rolls via leg kicks yo. Cerrone calls out Sam Stout but the coward Mac Danzig should be in order.

Dave Herman TKO's John Olav Einemo to win the battle of debuting Heavyweights. Olav came out firing but "Pee Wee" stayed calm and technical landing some kicks. Einemo got the takedown he needed but Dave escaped by athletically pushing his opponent away. John begins to win the stand-up even though Herman is smiling. A big knee sits up Dave who retreats until he returns the favor with a big knee and a left hook that has Olav on his back and in all kinds of trouble. Einemo wearily gets to his feet and they trade killing blows until Herman lands 5 unanswered knees followed by the final G&P for an exciting win! "Fight Of The Night"

Mark Munoz defeats Demian Maia by Unanimous Decision. Maia's striking isn't as much improved as Mark's is overrated. People seem impressed by Maia's "improvements" but we have to face the fact these are two mid-tier Middleweights and Mark's sloppy uncontrolled style will make anyone look better. Average fight from average guys.

Kenny Florian defeats Diego Nunes by Unanimous Decision. Canadian crowd booing Florian who is from and did wear a Boston Bruins jersey at the weigh-ins. The men feel each other out quite a bit when "Kenflo" eats a violent left that drops him with 10 seconds to go and he survives. Looks a bit glassy in the corner at 1st and then fine. Ken looks for the takedown in the 2nd but can't keep Nunes down and Diego takes his turn in top control. Ken is let up to his feet threatening but still working for the takedown which he finally lands well. Florian can't do much in Diego's guard though he lands a bit as the round ends in a puddle of blood. Close fight but Nunes looks wasted. Ken looks great but is telegraphing the shot but a double takes Diego's lets out from under him. Florian grinding out but escaping to the feet Diego lands a left hand. Wild misses as time winds down with a solid knee landing for Ken when a hail marry right from Diego drops Florian for a second in a close fight. MMAFO has it 29-28 Florian as do the judges in one form or another.

* Kenny looked solid in a tough win against an underrated man who made it a great fight. People will be bitter but its still very impressive and "Kenflo" only gets better from here as always. Go Boston Bruins!

Junior Dos Santos defeats Shane Carwin by Unanimous Decision. Carwin entered to Eminem because he is apparently a 13 year old boy. JDS enters to Rocky's "Gonna Fly Now" showing true fighter respect. This is a #1 Contenders Match to face the man called Cain. They do the standard feeling out process and JDS looks super-confident while Shane looks a bit old to me and doesn't look to have dropped nearly the weight his camp mentioned. Toward the end of the round "Cigano" begins to land and finishes a combination with a right hook that flattens Carwin. A barrage of unanswered blows are unleashed by JDS but Shane survives the round though his face has 3 major cuts and he is a crimson mass. In the 2nd, its all "Cigano" jabs and the curiously older looking fighter is trying to amass a 2nd wind. For the final round, slow Shane gives have hearted takedown attempts while eating more jabs and ending the fight a mess. MMAFO 30-26 and the judges agree. Carwin looked slow as ever and that mythical wrestling didn't show up again. JDS is solid people.

* Cain Velasquez is brought before the new #1 Heavyweight contender....again. If Ben Rothwell ever fights again he or Cheick Kongo could test the new Mark Coleman of the division.

Junior Dos Santos (12-1) vs. Shane Carwin (12-1) I don't know that I buy into this new Carwin that dropped 30 lbs. of muscle and is now full of endurance. JDS is far fresher and better in every way. I've never seen this amazing wrestling people claim Shane has. I've seen Carwin hurt Brock Lesnar, and then lose the fight. And he beat up the sturdy Frank Mir and Gabriel Gonzaga. JDS has beaten Stefan Struve, Fabricio Werdum, Gabriel Gonzaga as well, Gilbert Yvel, Mirko Filipovic, and Roy Relson thoroughly. Prove me wrong Shane.

Kenny Florian (13-5) vs. Diego Nunes (16-1) It's been said a lot but not enough, Kenny Florian is the 1st and only UFC fighter to compete in 4 weight classes! "Kenflo" said he wanted a challenge and he got it. Nunes comes in as one of Jose Aldo's running mates at Nova Uniao, and one of the hottest Featherweight prospects today. Kenny made weight no problem but how does he handle the speed here and the non-stop leg attack of Diego. The "Gun" is legit but ya gotta roll with the Bostonian who has emerged as a brilliant MMA mind and can use his new found power (Pantera!) to elbow Diego through the mat. I don't know that he stops him but Florian finds a way to get things done. Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo is next

Jon Oliv Einemo (7-1) vs. Dave Herman (20-2) Many MMA fans have long thought "Pee Wee" paid his dues to enter the UFC and now he gets the chance against Pride FC veteran and Jiu-Jitsu ace studying with Golden Glory, the "Viking." The 5 year hiatus is over and Einemo shocks Dave's world battering him into a mistake (which he often makes) and then a tapout.

Demian Maia (14-2) vs. Mark Munoz (10-2) Mark needs to land a bomb quick before he is sucked to the ground and tapped out before his hippo ears can wiggle. Maia is no fool and grounds his opponent but takes a beating for it.

I'm not sure Edwards will get past Stout's takedown defense too often as Sam uses his technical striking to out point the veteran. Big Yves fan and hope I'm wrong.

The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale Results: Clay Guida, Ferguson, Herman, & Jorgensen Win Big!

Reuben Duran doesn't like judges either and ends his bout with Francisco Rivera by RNC submission just before the end of the last round after winning the whole way. "Submission Of The Night"

Scott Jorgensen deserved to be higher on the card and got bumped up after the "Main Event" as he KO'd Ken Stone from guard! Rufio had trouble with Stone's length advantage so he took the bout to the floor where he is his best. Then the leader of the Lost Boys unloaded bombs putting out Ken a la Mauricio Rua's KO on Alistair Overeem. Beautiful win for the "Vitilligo Warrior" who is back! "KO Of The Night"

Clay Harvison just edged out Justin Edwards by Split-Decision.

Shamar Bailey owned Ryan McGillivray by Unanimous Decision in a clean 30-27 sweep. Takedown, try to stay busy, and repeat.

George Roop Upsets Josh Grispi by a KO punch to the body! Roop defended all of Grispi's ground attacks and gave it back with elbows to steal the close 1st round. A front kick to the chest knocked Josh down and then it was all George with the G&P. In the final round Roop came out mixing kicks with punches and dealing with Josh's takedowns. George kept attacking with the mixed bag and Josh just gassed out. A final brutal right hand to the body drops Grispi and the referee has seen enough. An impressive upset win for Mr. Roop who I have counted out far too many times.

Jeremy Stephens defeated a very tough Daniel Downes by Unanimous Decision. An unfortunate name for "Danny Boy" who looks like he has down's syndrome but damn can this guy take a beating. Downes came straight from the locker he was trapped in to take powerful punches from "Heathen," a bloodied mess in the 3rd, and a Kimura in the 2nd that Danny survived just before his arm snapped off. How Downes survived that submission I will never know but a dominate win for Stephens and "Danny Boy" earned the gratitude of the fans and someone we look forward to see fighting again soon.

Chris Cope defeats an amateur looking Chuck O'Neil by Unanimous Decision. The "Whooing Idiot" was just vastly superior in every facet of the game. Chuck offered very little allowing Cope to try all of his attacks in this glorified sparring match. People were impressed with the improvements Chris made since the show ended, but he is still no were near talented enough to hang in the UFC's Welterweight division for long.

Kyle Kingsbury defeats Fabio Maldonado by Unanimous Decision. "Fannypack Man" started strong as always but the accumulation of body punches and technical striking paid dividends for Fabio late. Kingsbury jumped out to the early lead using he length to his advantage but began to fade as Maldonado made Kyle pay with wicked body shots when they clinched up time and time again. The knees were landing well for Kyle early but Fabio gave as good as he got. For the final round it was all Maldonado who closed Kyle's left eye and began to take full control. The judges saw it 29-28 for Kingsbury while MMAFO had it 29-28 for Maldonado but I could see a case being made both ways. "Fight Of The Night"

* If Fabio wanted this more he would get in better shape and lose the man titties. Kyle looked decent but never blow your nose when you have a mouse developing and cardio, cardio, cardio. Happy Birthdays to Rogerio and Rodrigo Nogueira (Fabio's teammates).

** I also enjoyed that when Fabio grabbed the fence, the referee, who was in perfect position, just slapped his hands away and didn't give a warning. Great job ruined by then telling the busy fighters to "work" over and over again.

Ed Herman TKO's Tim Credeur a mere 48 seconds into the bout after a 22 month layoff! Wow, "Short Fuse" made short work of Timmy. Just two uppercuts from the clinch dropped Credeur and 4 follow up punches seal the fate of "Crazy." Impressive stoppage on a lower level fighter.

Clay Guida defeats Anthony Pettis by Unanimous Decision. That's 30-27 across the board in a shutout people! The "Carpenter" brought a workmen like performance smothering "Showtime" who couldn't get any flashy moves off. The only moment of peril for Clay came when Pettis briefly took Guida's back in the 3rd and threatened with a RNC. Guida stayed calm and reversed position to look for the RNC himself as time ran out on Tony. Ya gotta love the Fathead cut-out held behind Clay during his winner's interview.

* The winner of Jim Miller vs Ben Henderson gets Clay Guida for the #1 contenders match! Tony just isn't ready for that elite spot yet but he will be some day. A bit more seasoning for Pettis and he'll be in the game for sure.

Tony Ferguson KO's Ramsey Nijem who cried like a bitch. "El Douche Bag" (someone tell Tony that even douche bag's don't highlight their hair anymore) got the KO on the out of control as always Nijem. What was embarrassing was when Ramsey woke up he wouldn't stop weeping like a mother at a funeral. Geez kid, head to the showers for some Johnson & Johnson's "no more tears" already. Ferguson wins but gets cut from the organization by mid-2012. Enjoy the veal.

* Tony called out Amir Sadollah for his next bout which is more than he can handle at this point. Still, let it happen so Ferguson can get his ass kicked.

Anthony Pettis (13-1) vs Clay Guida (28-11) A "Main Event" worthy to headline the awful UFC 130 card. This, is a much better and guaranteed exciting. Pettis comes in riding his "kick heard round the world," but what was more impressive, was besting former WEC Lightweight Champion Ben Henderson. Tony got the WEC gold for the last time and now makes his UFC debut. "Showtime" has only lost once and generally is able to finish opponents while Guida looks to work you to death. The "Carpenter" has been on a roll as of late finishing his last 3 opponents and has only lost to the best of the best in the UFC. Pettis is very well rounded and has the gas for days to combat the blitzkrieg style of Clay, but can he stop the non-stop juggernaut takedown attempts for 15 full minutes? I'm not so sure. He'll try to sprawl and cage kick you but I just seen Guida sticking to him like glue and exposes Tony's mistakes when he does go for the highlight reel moves. This bout could easily go either way but I'll roll with the lovable Winnebago living, hair flying, metal singing, wall of motion from the Jackson Camp.

Ultimate Fighter 13 Welterweight Final:
Ramsey Nijem (4-1) vs. Tony Ferguson (10-2) Yawn, who cares? This was the absolute worst TUF season ever filled with average at best fighters and little actual training footage. Just a garbage show but the two best did make it to the finals. I personally don't care because neither guy will compete any where near the top of the thick and competitive Welterweight division. I suppose I would go with Tony because of his technical striking and the fact Nijem looks like he just runs at people throwing punches. Truthfully, I just hope this fight ends quick so we can see some prelims.

Ed Herman (21-9) vs. Tim Creduer (12-3) Both of these men have been gone for 21 months each so expect a rusty fight. If, If Tim can keep this standing he will have a large advantage. My fear is that Ed takes him down and dry humps him for the full 15. Losing 3 of his last 4 doesn't exactly inspire you to pick Herman but he does have better ground. Both men have smallish gas tanks so lets hope "Crazy" gets it done but "Short Fuse" will probably hump his way to a win.

Kyle Kingsbury (10-2) vs. Fabio Maldonado (18-3) The king returns wearing his toe shoes and sporting his pink fannypack meeting the underrated boxer from Team Nogueira. I actually like Fabio to take this one though he has flown far under the radar for a while now. His boxing is leaps and bounds above most in the UFC and he should be able to contend with Kyle's ground game since he trains at such a great Jiu-Jitsu based camp.

Chuck O’Neil (8-3) vs. Chris Cope (4-1) Chuck was the decent fighter who came on late but lacked the skill to make the finals. Cope is an annoying ass. I'll go Irish for the sake of Irish here.

Jeremy Stephens (19-6) vs. Danny Downes (8-1) "Danny Boy" is a not yet ready for prime time player who is being thrown to the "Heathen." Jeremy simply throws to kill you and is a solid wrestler who reminds me of Rick Story. Nuff said.

Josh Grispi (14-2) vs. George Roop (11-7-1) "The Fluke" had all the makings for a title run (and still does) before being inexplicably upset by Dustin Poirier in his UFC debut. Brush that aside because Josh gets back on track against the tall kid fighting above his pay grade.

Scott Jorgensen (11-4) vs. Ken Stone (9-2) Zuffa stuck the "Vitiligo Warrior" waay to far down the roster on this one. Ken got the wrong kind of press getting slammed to hell in his UFC debut while Scotty just lost a title fight and has been solid for years. I really like Jorgensen and fully expect him to find another title shot at some point in his future. The only question is whether or not he gets the finish.

Reuben Duran (7-3-1) vs. Francisco Rivera (5-1) Yet another bout that should be higher on the pecking order, we have two upstarts looking to make a spot in the Featherweight division. Duran is a far superior grappler but Rivera has the edge on the feet though not enough of an advantage to steal the fight.
