Oscar De La Hoya defeats Ricardo Mayorga

Ricardo Mayorga tried everything to intimidate Oscar De La Hoya for their fight, including slapping Oscar in the head when he wasn't looking, and staying in the locker room the night of the fight, and refusing to come out until he was given $8 million dollars by Don King. None of these tactics seemed to affect the "Golden Boy" who entered the ring in perhaps the best shape of his life. Oscar then proceeded to knock down Mayorga in the first round and twice more before the fight was over. Finally, in the 6th round, Mayorga went down and the referee called an end to the punishment. The fight was never close with the much fast De La Hoya landing brutal body shots and super fast combinations. Congratulations to Oscar on his emphatic win.
Rumors now have Oscar possibly facing Floyd Mayweather Jr. around the month of September.
