MMA in Russia is so well respected, President Vladimir Putin not only attended the recent Bodog Fight PPV in Russia, but he invited fighters back to the Palace where he lives (including Aleksander & Fedor Emelianenko)! They were treated to an extravagant dinner and dined with the Russian elite. Wow, could you imagine George W. Bush hanging out with Chuck Liddell and Dana White after a UFC PPV? It should also be noted that President Putin is not only a Judo/Sambo fan, but longtime practitioner as well. And yes, that is Jean Claude Van Damme. He was special guest of honor at the PPV and palace along with the fighters. Jean Claude is big in Russia, like David Hasselhoff is big in Germany. Its a strange world indeed. There was no sign of Dolph Lungren at the event.
