Ken & Ryan Shamrock Sign With Elite XC

In somewhat surprising news, Elite XC has announced that they have signed Ken Shamrock and his 19 year old son Ryan Shamrock to multi-fight deals. Ken (26-12-2) has lost his last 4 fights at age 43 doesn't seem to have a whole lot left in the tank besides a desire to prove himself over and over again. I can respect that, but who Ken actually fights, and if he can actually get back on the winning track are 2 very important aspects of his 3rd comeback. A legitimate fight with pro wrestler Kurt Angle (an Olympic gold medalist in wrestling) was proposed by the IFL, but Kurt turned down the fight citing not enough time to train for his MMA debut. The promoter of Elite XC Gary Shaw, has long been interested in the Shamrock name, and a future fight with step brother Frank Shamrock which is already rumored to be set up for December of this year. There is no doubt that Ken has drawing power, but who would he fight on the Showtime's MMA promotion roster would be important to validate his return or a possible fight with his brother. If Ken fights an unknown or a "can" and wins, what does that prove? At the same time, a bigger named opponent gives him a loss and the future Frank fight becomes even more irrelevant. It will be interesting to see what the future holds, even if it is an eventual and not surprising let down.
For his son Ryan Shamrock, he has had but 1 fight (1-0) at 135 lbs. which Elite XC doesn't even have as a weight class yet. Granted he's there for his name, but a 1-0 fighter with his dad's name isn't going to impress anyone anytime soon.
Gary Shaw continues to make some odd choices for his company, but this deal is set for March 8th, in London England, for father and son to compete on the same card.
