Elite XC's Final Days

EliteXC is as dead as McCain's Presidential bid as the promotion heads into its final days of business. Pro Elite, which has accrued $55 million deficit during its two years of operation, had been in need of a helping hand in recent months. Showtime and CBS looked as if they were going to buy the struggling MMA promotion but negative press surrounding questionable conduct before the main event of Elite XC's last show "Heat," between Seth Petruzelli and Kimbo Slice have overshadowed the ratings success. Petruzelli, who stepped into the headlining bout on an hour's notice and beat Slice in 14 seconds with a short right jab, hinted afterward on a Monday morning talk show that promoters had given him a financial bonus to stand with the less ground-savvy Slice.

Pro Elite officials later denied any wrongdoing, calling the pre-fight locker room discussion a "knockout bonus" offer, but public outcry led the Florida State Boxing Commission to open an investigation on the matter.
Nice work as great fighters like Jake Shields, Nick Diaz, Gina Carano, Robbie Lawler, Joey Villasenor, Antonio Silva, Brett Rogers, Frank Shamrock, Eddie Alvarez, Ninja Rua, Nick Thompson, Benji Radach, and even Kimbo Slice will all be free agents as well as many more. Damn, just less competition as the UFC monopoly looks to grow.
