UFC 109 Results In A Crappy PPV

Joey Beltran capitalized on his recent KO of Houston Alexander and parlayed that into a UFC contract. Now he has shocked the MMA world as he TKO’s Rolles Gracie in the 2nd round. Wow is Rolles going to get the “overrated” treatment after this piss poor performance.

Chris Tuchscherer defeats Tim Hague by the rare Majority Decision (1 judge scored the fight a draw) in controversial fashion. The 1st round was close but most people scored it for Hague while the 2nd was obviously for Chris. In the final round both men looked weary and off balance. For the final 30 seconds, Tim wailed away on Chris almost getting the stoppage and causing the fans to boo the decision. It all comes down to how you scored that 1st round but neither man impressed. And yes, Chris took yet another powerful shot to the pills for good measure.

“Mr. Wonderful” Phil Davis made good on his highly touted debut by defeating the tough Marine Brian Stann by Unanimous Decision via a dominant shutout.

Robert Emerson gets his record over .500 (9-8) by defeating the humongous bust of a fighter named Phillipe Nover via Unanimous Decision. This kid has got to get the axe after losing to this tomato can and dropping 3 in a row!
Dana White is correct, Phillip is the next Anderson Silva!

3 Blind Mice judged the Melvin Guillard vs Ronys Torres fight all for the newest
Greg Jackson trainee and it was nothing short of bullshit. For people playing the drinking game at home, Joe Rogan and Matt Goldberg said a version of “explosive” 9 times but “athletic” only once.

Mac Danzig gets rocked a couple of times early against Justin Buchholz and then its just a kinda grind it out affair in route to a Unanimous Decision keeping the Vegan employed in the UFC.....for now.

Matt Serra blasted poor old Frank Trigg into unconsciousness with that powerful right hand sending him into retirement. What can you say except it was expected and I like Serra staying at 170 lbs. where he looks much more comfortable.

Demian Maia outstruck Dan Miller but could not tap him out in route to a Unanimous Decision victory to rebound from that disastrous 7 second KO last time out.

Paulo Thiago treated Mike Swick like the bitch he is kicking his ass on the feet and after dropping "Quick" to the floor, secured a tight Brabo Choke that turned the lights out! That brings the score to Thiago 2 and
AKA 1. Can we put Swick to be now? I'm tired of his "mysterious" injuries that pull him out of tough fights and with all the talk about his length and striking, he can't seem to pull the trigger.

Chael Sonnen and Nate Marquardt went to war but the
Team Quest fighter got the Unanimous Decision win and a probable title shot against the winner of Anderson Silva vs Vitor Belfort for the Middleweight title. I mean I hate this douche bag but to give credit, the guy is unbelievably tough and took a brutal knee and was almost choked out twice yet still controlled the contest and definitely frustrated Nate from bell to bell. Chael will also keep talking shit on the "Spider" (in the name of our lord and savior) and hopefully charging up the man who has successfully defended his title a ridiculous 8 times in a row!

The Hall Of Fame seniors tour ends with Randy Couture putting a RNC on Mark Coleman putting the "Godfather" to sleep. Let's be honest here. This was a bout to add another win for the "Natural" and pretend he deserves a future shot at the Light Heavyweight title (which he doesn't). The "Hammer" looks like an AIDS patient out there and really has no business fighting anymore. The best part of the event was when
Tito Ortiz was talking shit to Coleman ringside during his interview, and Mark called him out saying, "Fuck you Tito," and "any fucking time Tito." for some good hilarity. Ortiz may love to pick on the old guys (hello Ken Shamrock) but I'm guessing we will never see the fight as Coleman gets cut on Monday.

*Overall a pretty shitty PPV and if you paid for it you are part of the problem. Dana White said Mark Coleman has probably fought for the last time in the UFC and how many times have we seen a guy 1 fight away from the title shot only to fall short in a bout everyone expected him to win. Nate Marquardt kinda got screwed not getting to fight Dan Henderson when he fled to Strikeforce, and then Vitor Belfort pulled out of their proposed fight with an "injury" only to magically heal and sign to fight Champion Anderson Silva. Now Nate finds himself at another career crossroad.
Next up will be UFC 110 from Australia and we went a horrendous 6-5 on our picks in a night full of UPSETS which I got zero correct!
