UFC 132 Results: Cruz Stays Champ, Leben KO's Wand, Condit Destroys Kim, & A Night Of Great Fights!

First of all, this was an amazing event. Once things began on Spike TV, it was all dramatic fights with the title bout being everything you want in a championship bout. There were even hell freezing over upsets, controversy, and its back to back impressive events for Zuffa.

Jeff Hougland defeats Donny Walker by Unanimous Decision. Haven't seen it.

Anthony Njokuani defeats the tough as hell Andre Winner by Unanimous Decision. Njokuani put on a kickboxing clinic in the 1st. Anthony just opened up with a bevy of knees and punches unanswered by Winner who just absorbed a silly amount of punishment as the referee looked very close to stopping the fight. Somehow, Andre survived the brutal crushing onslaught of the 1st though it was clearly a 10-8 dominant round. In the 2nd however, the Team Roughhouse Brit came out swinging only to find himself eating more knees and an onslaught of kicks. After being owned for 10 straight minutes, Winner came out still battling though he would again have no answer for Njokuani's offense it an impressive bout of dishing out and taking abuse. 30-26 and a spectacular performance of Njokuani! "Fight Of The Night"

Aaron Simpson defeats Brad Tavares by Unanimous Decision. Haven't seen it and don't care to. The bout play-by-play sounds like it went exactly was expected.

Brian Bowles defeats Takeya Mizugaki by Unanimous Decision. Bowles do what he do out striking the tough Japanese fighter but also broke his right hand (yet again) sometime in the 2nd round. Had it not been for that Brian was finding his rhythm and range and might have had a more impressive performance. It is a good solid win but the cat can't stay healthy long enough to make a good run at his former championship.

Rafael dos Anjos KO's George Sotiropoulos with a lucky punch a mere 0:59 into the 1st round. The guys come to the center and exchange in a wild flurry. Anjos brings a bomb from far right field that puts George's lights out before he hits the canvas where he then ate a few more finishing shots. Rafael just closed his eyes and winged that sucker and it landed on the button. A tough string of luck for the Aussie dropping two in a row after making what looked like a run for the title. The Brazilian is now 4-3 in the UFC but this will open a lot of new opportunities.

Melvin Guillard KO'd Shane Roller in the very 1st round as well. The two men felt each other out a bit and then proceeded to exchange at close range signaling the theme of the night. Then Melvin landed an uppercut left hook combination that dropped the Oklahoman though he quickly rose to his feet. Guillard met him with a just stiff brutal right hand that put Shane down for good. Melvin adds a little G&P and its a wrap.
* Melvin seems to have genuinely grown up as a person which has only made him a more deadly fighter. When an arrogant young guy with ridiculous natural abilities has early success, he doesn’t evolve content in god given abilities. Guillard's new humility has made him very scary with Greg Jackson holding the reins. Mel said he will not fight fellow top contender and teammate Clay Guida unless gold is on the line.

Carlos Condit destroyed Dong Hyun Kim by TKO via Flying Knee and punches in yet another 1st round stoppage! The "Donger" came out and slammed Condit to the mat but Carlos easily got to the feet where he unloaded a picture perfect switch flying knee that ruined the "Stun Gun's" world! Kim crashed to the floor unconscious but the always vicious "NBK" mounts his defenseless prey and batters his head as the referee pulls him away. Total destruction for Condit who seems to have erased all doubt as to where he belongs in the Welterweight title picture. Never underestimate the (excuse the pun) killer instinct of Carlos who should get the winner of Georges St. Pierre and Nick Diaz. "KO Of The Night"

Tito Ortiz Upsets Ryan Bader by submission via Guillotine Choke in another goddamn 1st round finish!! The "HBBB" pulled off the upset of the year landing a seemingly innocuous right that dropped dumb "Darth" just as the crowd was chanting Tito's name. An almost frantic and shocked Ortiz then latched onto a guillotine and low and behold hell has frozen over and Oprah Winfrey is flying! Oh the embarrassment Ryan must have felt as Tito launches into his grave digger routine as surprised as the rest of us.
* This is just funny and ridiculous. We finally get Tito so close to being out the door and that muscle head moron Bader fucks it up. I'm not saying I have any faith in Ortiz, but I did throw down a little $cratch on Mr. Jameson which paid off big. I just had this feeling that the Arizona fray boy was going to blow the fight like Jenna Jameson on every cock she has ever seen. No Submission of the Night bonus.

Dennis Siver defeats Matt Wiman by controversial (?) Unanimous Decision. In ze beginning Siver showed great balance defending constant takedown attempts but vinning ze striking war in ze close exchanges. Matt did gain some takedowns but zey would be nullified by Dennis instantly getting back to the feet and landing strikes. Siver also got a takedown worss nosing but ended ze round on bottom perhaps confusing ze crowd. In the 2nd Wiman got the takedown and cut Dennis wide open wiz strong elbows. Siver became a crimson mass and Matt stuck close to him damaging ze German. For ze final round, it waz close but at ze 2:30 mark Siver landed a big combination. Mainly Matt got lazy and shot for a takedown that was stuffed like a German shower in the 40's. Matt dropped for a guillotine but couldn't get it as he absorbed punches on ze feet and tripped Siver to ze floor. Dennis reverses and drops Matt with a strong leg kick and ends ze fight boxing Wiman's ears and attempting a guillotine.
* The judges all see it 29-28 for Dennis Siver and "Handsome" rips his hand away from the referee, throws his hat in disgust, and leaves the cage as the crowd boo's the decision I suppose. They also boo just for being foreign so who cares. They should have boo'd the poor sportsmanship displayed by a guy who acted as if it wasn't a close fight. It was. The 3rd is tough to call but I also had it for Siver and thought the other two rounds were obvious. It probably doesn't help the now growing outrage on the Internet that there has been so much bad judging recently and Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg had the fight in the bag for Wiman before the 3rd even ended. Ignore the commentary and watch it again.

Chris Leben
KO's Wanderlei Silva just 20 seconds into the bout! Before the bout Wand said, "I am kamikaze, kill or be killed." Silva stuck to his word coming out immediately with a barrage of punches that rocked the "Crippler." Always most dangerous when hurt, Chris delivered a couple of solid left uppercuts that had Wandy reeling before he fell onto his mug and Leben punched him out. While unconscious, Wand battled with the referee before eventually coming to. Unfortunately, I believe this may spell the end of the "Axe Murderer" in MMA. Too many knockouts and too many wars. Dana White mentioned that it may be time for retirement as well in the post fight presser as well. It was the slug fest the fans wanted but with the wrong ending.

Dominick Cruz defeats Urijah Faber by Unanimous Decision. I'll give you credit Zuffa, I have yet to find this bout on the Internet but this pirate will prevail. From what I've read, it seems generally correct that Cruz won the decision on speed and volume of punches though Faber scored the takedowns in a title bout that exceeded expectations. I wish I could see it.

7-4 on the picks.
