Bellator 49 & BAMMA 7 Results: Wallhead Upsets Trigg & Daley & Saunders Dominate!

Bellator 49 Results

Douglas Lima
defeats Steve Carl by Unanimous Decision.

Luis Santos
defeats Dan Hornbuckle by Unanimous Decision.

Ben Saunders
TKO's Chris Cisneros with a knee to the body and follow up punches in the final round. Hells yeah! That's how "Killa-B" do! Eat it bitches!

Chris Lozano
defeats Brent Weedman by Unanimous Decision. Goddamn right the "Cleveland Assassin" comes through with my 2nd correct Upset Pick.

Alexandre Bezerra defeats Scott Heckman by Rd.2 TKO. Wow is this kid impressive. Alex just stuck to the game plan biding his time and getting the range and rhythm of the fight. It was becoming clear toward the end of the 1st round that Bezerra was razor sharp while Scott seemed to continually put himself out of position. In the 2nd, "Popo" turned up the stellar leg kicks and went for a takedown of his own lifting Scott high into the air. Scott then tried to grab the top railing of the cage only to be slammed to the mat as punishment. Alex then opened up the G&P from Heckman's back and the referee had to stop the onslaught.
* I'm very impressed with this kid. His stand up is just pretty to watch combined with BJ Penn like balance and wicked Jiu-Jitsu that he didn't even use tonight. Great fight and I can't wait to see more from "Popo!"

Giedrius Karavackas defeats LeVon Maynard by Rd.3 TKO. The Judo/Karate guy did not look good early on eating a right hand that dropped him to the canvas. LeVon tried to finish but Karavackas gutted the round out. In the 2nd, Giedrius seemed to get his rhythm though his weak striking never hurt Maynard who was still laying bricks on GK. In the final round Maynard ducked his head right into the knee of Giedrius' right kick and he collapses to the mat. Karavackas sneaks behind and holds his opponent up in an odd position where he punches until the referee (who did a great job all right at being in the right place, etc.) looked at the eyes and stopped the fight.
* Trying to walk through strikes is never a good plan but Giedrius needs to hit with some sort of power to make opponents respect him on the feet. The rest of his game is decent but he's a bit too long in the tooth to make any noise at his current stage in MMA.

Joel Roberts defeats Brylan Van Artsdalen by Triangle Choke submission. The Bry guy started out well enough but an upkick dropped him into Joel's triangle and call it a day. Credit Van Artsdalen for not tapping instead blacking out like a man.

Azunna Anyanwu defeats J.A. Dudley by TKO. Well that wasn't pretty but what did we expect? "Zulu" struggled much more than he should have and survived a ton of his own blood gushing down his face to put the Dudley Boy on queer street.

BAMMA 7 Results
Jim Wallhead
defeats Frank Trigg by Split Decision. "Judo" Jim came out smoking Trigg with punches and creating a large bloody mouse under his right eye. "Twinkle Toes" recovered in the 2nd as Jim seemed to be gasping for air. The 2nd was close but I give it to Trigg for activity. In the final round both men slowed to a crawl but Wallhead did land two strong punches that visibly hurt Frank though he would recover. The Judo player then secured a takedown and the writing was on the wall.
* C'mon people. Who told you not to bank on Trigg and delivered the Upset Pick?

Paul Daley defeats Jordan Radev by Unanimous Decision after missing weight by 6 pounds! "Semtex" has missed weight in 6 of his last 14 fights which is just a joke. Fines don't work so someone should just take his purse and refuse to fight. At any rate, Daley avoided the takedown early and rocked Radev with knees and attacked! It was then a Muay Thai clinic as Jordan became a crimson mass but miracuously stayed alive to end the round! In the 2nd its all "Semtex" again but credit Radev's toughness as he got raped. For the final bell, both men were winded but Jordan finally gets the takedown. Paul is content to survive on the ground knowing he easily won the 1st two rounds and chills.
* Not the most impressive performance from Daley who was obviously overweight. It has to be noted that Radev is tough as hell and probably earned more fans in defeat hear showing amazing heart and durability.

Rob Sinclair retains the Lightweight Championship over Diego Vital by Rd.3 KO. Pretty sweet knockout.

Jack Marshman defeats Carl Noon by TKO to earn (heh) the Lonsdale British Middleweight title. Wow, what an honor. Someday I personally would like to put my Faith No More Ping Pong Championship on the line against such a prestigious belt.

Andre Winner gets back in the win column by besting Jason Ball via Unanimous Decision. Dre started getting more comfortable in the 2nd but also added some new tricks to his arsenal. Winner still needs more wrestling training but looked improved off his back.

12-1 on the picking side ladies. Let's see you do better!!
