UFC on FX3 Picks & Prognostications

UFC on FX 3
June 8, 2012
BankAtlantic Center
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida
Main Card (FX):
Ian McCall (11-2-1) vs. Demetrious Johnson (14-2-1) [Rematch]  Here we go again searching for a true victor in the "Uncle Creepy" vs "Mighty Mouse" saga.  The attributes of each fighter haven't changed save for Ian now has the confidence to hang with Johnson's lauded speed.  Both have good wrestling though Demetrious is more apt to controlling the bout on top of his opponent while McCall will take the risks looking to finish or just excite the crowd.  I fully expect another nip and tuck fight with it coming down to the wire.  I simply feel Ian has the extra will and offensive capability to get things done this time though it is left in the hands of the inept judges yet again.  Here's hoping they (and I) get it right this time.
WINNER-Ian McCall by Decision
Erick Silva (13-2) vs. Charlie Brenneman (15-3) Wrongly DQ'd and looking to avenge his last loss and establish himself in the Welterweight division, the Brazilian phenom faces 170 stalwart wrestler Brenneman.  Charlies one and only shot is to control this bout on the mat with his smothering grappling. Charlie may be better tested but he is the one trick pony against a guy who is more well rounded in his game at a young age.  Sprawl & brawl is Erick's game tonight touching up Charles while staying careful in a guarded attack. Another close fight here but the offensive skills help Silva get the judges nod after a spirited contest.
WINNER-Erick Silva by Decision
Mike Pyle (22-8) vs. Josh Neer (33-10)  The battle of the Welterweight veterans is here.  Both men known for gritty tough em out performances.  Pyle has more all around game here in a bout that just might steal the show with two durable fighters ready to dish it out and take it to win.
WINNER-Mike Pyle by Decision
Scott Jorgensen (13-5) vs. Eddie Wineland (18-8-1) Scotty J the "Vitiligo Warrior" is a personal favorite of MMAFO with his work cut out for him tonight.  Ed is tough as they come and can combat Jorgensen's wrestling though he won't bet better on the mat.  Wineland has some KO power but so does Scotty though standing on the feet is a dangerous idea.  I feel as though Ed has hung with the elite of the division coming up a hair short while Scotty just doesn't seem to have enough to get things done.  Wineland's power hurts Jorgensen who is forced to hang on for a points loss.
Upset WINNER-Eddie Wineland by Decision
Prelims (Fuel TV):
Mike Pierce (13-5) vs. Carlos Eduardo Rocha (9-1) Mike gets no love for being "boring" but the guy is technically solid and out smarts his opponents.  "Ta Danado" can make Pierce work but not even Jon Fitch has been able to break Mike yet.  That being Rocha's game plan it fails him as he is out grappled in a frustrating affair.
WINNER-Mike Pierce by Decision
Seth Baczynski (15-7) vs. Lance Benoist (6-0) Neither guy is battle tested but Seth has shown real improvement while Lance has not had to. I got nothing but a feeling so roll the dice with me.
WINNER-Seth Baczynski by Decision
Leonard Garcia (15-8-1) vs. Matt Grice (14-4) In a night of Decisions, we find two guys who are going to stand and trade until somebody falls.  Though normally I and the world bet against the crazy arm swinging and thoroughly reckless "Bad Boy," tonight he finds his mark against a less talented arm swinging reckless fighter.
WINNER-Leonard Garcia by Rd.2 TKO
Dustin Pague (10-5) vs. Jared Papazian (14-7) The "Jackhammer" surprised me in his debut against the uberly annoying "Disciple."  Yeah so, this fight is going to happen and stuff.
WINNER-Jared Papazian by Flying Armbar
Tim Means (17-3) vs. Justin Salas (10-3) 9 in a row for the "Dirty Bird" bringing the KO power to bare on an unsuspecting Salas.
WINNER-Tim Means by Rd.2 TKO
Buddy Roberts (11-2) vs. Caio Magalhaes (5-0) Buddy by b-bo ba dubbidy bu do.
WINNER-Buddy Roberts by Suplex
Prelims (on Facebook):
Henry Martinez (8-2) vs. Bernardo Magalhaes (11-2) In a "Who Cares & Who Are Ya Bout?" we find him versus who in a why.
WINNER-Henry Martinez by Decision
Jake Hecht (11-3) vs. Sean Pierson (11-6)  I gotta tell you I thought Sean was bounced from the promotion a while back and I'm surprised he is still employed.  Sean is a good dude but time has passed him by as a younger more talented MMA fighter is poised to take his place and make a run at the competitive Welterweight division.  "America, fuck yeah!"
WINNER-Jake Hecht by Rd.2 TKO
