DREAM 18 Fight Card With Picks & Prognostications

DREAM 18 – Special NYE 2012
December 31, 2012
Saitama Super Arena
Saitama, Japan
MMA Bouts:
Shinya Aoki
vs. Antonio McKee  The all important DREAM Lightweight title (sarcasm) will be on the line as the 42 year old wonder meets the submission specialist.  McKee is a solid/boring wrestler who is gonna get caught sooner or later in the mat magician’s bag of tricks.
WINNER-Shinya Aoki by Rd.2 Submission

Melvin Manhoef vs. Denis Kang  I gave up on Kang a long time ago, and this is a match up in which he is the better MMA fighter but his notorious chin will once again be called into question.  If Denis can get Melvin to the floor quickly he has a shot but with the tiniest mistake Manhoef will land some true bombs and put Kang out for the 6th time in his career.
WINNER-Melvin Manhoef by Rd.1 KO

Bibiano Fernandes vs. Yoshiro Maeda “Flash” is the DREAM Bantamweight Champion (for what its worth) and Maeda is the up and down DEEP fighter trying to stay relevant.  This may not be the most exciting bout but Fernandes will get enough done to win the judges favor.
WINNER-Bibiano Fernandes by Decision

Tatsuya Kawajiri vs. Michihiro Omigawa “Crusher” needs to say goodbye to Japan and finding some training and opponents in America.  The guy is very talented and just languishing in the East instead and trying to be an elite fighter against the best in the world.  “Omigodwa” is alright but just not on the same level.
WINNER-Tatsuya Kawajiri by Decision

Hayato Sakurai vs. Phil Baroni  “Mach” at one time was one of the best Welterweights in the world but at age 37, his 48 professional bouts have worn him down.  The “NYBA” is hovering at .500 for his career but power rarely goes away.  Phil isn’t a better fighter but he’ll find a home for those brutish punches the wound and take out the legend.
WINNER-Phil Baroni by Rd.2 TKO

Hiroyuki Takaya vs. Georgi Karakhanyan “Insane” is riding a 5 fight winning streak into this scrap with “Streetfight Bancho.”  Georgi is a submission monster while Takaya is the striker but he is reckless or ineffective for the most part.  I expect this fight to go the distance in a close affair where it doesn’t hurt to be the hometown hero.
WINNER-Hiroyuki Takaya by Decision

Satoru Kitaoka vs. Will Brooks Kitaoka is a solid fighter who is meeting a relative unknown and undefeated “Ill Will.”  Can’t say I know what to do here besides flip a coin.
WINNER-Will Brooks?

Marloes Coenen vs. Fiona Muxlow  The beautiful and deadly “Rumina” is back again to put a whoopin’ on the Australian.
WINNER-Marloes Coenen by Rd. 3 TKO
