Conor McGregor TKO’d Chad Mendes with Punches at 4:57 of the 2nd round to become the UFC Interim Featherweight Champion!

The "Notorious" Conor McGregor only had the pressure of the entire proud country of Ireland on his back, but he still managed to rise above, probably the best PPV card MMAFO has ever witnessed, and be crowned the King of the Featherweights!

Conor came flying across the Octagon to deliver a flying knee that "Money" caught and instantly turned into a takedown. McGregor quickly scrambled back to the feet and "Mystic Mac" begins to target the body of Mendes with spinning kicks and body punches. A second successful takedown for Chad but he basically allows the Irishman back to his feet. Conor's right eye is slightly cut as more body attacks land for McGregor and a 3rd quick takedown for the Team Alpha Male product but nothing comes of it and referee Herb Dean gives a "final warning," to Mendes about "fingers to the eyes."

McGregor charges across the cage yet again landing two front kicks  while Mendes drags Conor to the mat with a guillotine but there is not danger as they quickly reset standing. A perfectly timed double-leg takedown for "Money" who earns an onslaught of vicious elbows from McGregor. Referee Herb Dean tells the complaining Mendes the elbows are legal and Chad retaliates with big strikes of his own. Mendes passes into side position and goes for a topside guillotine (this would be the big the turning point of the fight). Chad pulled Conor into the choke on his back and McGregor escapes and resets. McGregor is looking confident as uppercuts and body punches land. Mendes is retreating when a long left cross snaps his head and the American crumbles to the canvas. The pride of Ireland attacks with coffin nails as Mendes covers up, offering no response, and the fight is halted! Conor McGregor is the new UFC Interim Featherweight Champion!!!!!! "MVP (Performance) of the Night"

Just an amazing victory to cap off one of the greatest UFC cards of all time! McGregor celebrates as the raccous crowd looses its collective mind. Conor collapses to his knees, flag draped around his shoulders, moved to tears. All the pressure that was on this one man, not just to win for Ireland, but to back up all the bravado, and to save the most important card the UFC has ever put together, is nothing short of legend making for the Irishman.

McGregor Post Fight Quotes

"Mendes secured one or two takedowns, but again, I knew the efficient man prevails,"

"So when I was on the mat, I was patient. I landed shots when I could, I stayed safe."

"He has heavy shots, he's put people away, but I didn't feel nothing."

"I don't feel anything when these featherweights hit me. I feel like a concrete block."

Robbie Lawler TKO’d Rory MacDonald via Punches at 1:00 of the 5th and final round in one of the best title fights of all time!

This was one of the best, nastiest, bloodiest, and most impressive title fights in MMA history. The men show a respectful reluctance early but MacDonald's jab wins the uneventful opening round. Lawler rebounded in the 2nd, as both men did work but Rory's face became a bloody mess early as it looked as though he broke his nose. The defending champion begins to find his rhythm as Robbie takes the round on points.

Lawler begins picking Rory apart properly christening the "Red King" who is literally pouring blood on the mat. A seemingly blocked head kick lands for MacDonald and ATT's fighter is wobbly and retreating. Rory attacks for the finish and a flying knee lands for the Canadian as the round ends.

The 4th round begins, kicks, elbows, and punches are connecting for MacDonald who mixes in some head kicks just for good fun. Rory is handling the round and Lawler's lip is gruesomely split open. A ghastly wound but something seems to have awoken in the final moments of the round as Robbie comes alive with anger and the two combatants must be separated after the bell.

Its the final round and Rory has to be winning 3-1. Mac's Tristar couches are imploring him, "Five more minutes and you are a champion!" The "Ruthless" side of Robbie comes out as he bathes "Ares" in his own blood. A perfectly placed left hand obliterates MacDonald's nose and he crumbles to the mat as Lawler forces the referee to end the murder. Holy shit what a fight! That is the type of contest that takes years off both fighters. Rory struggles to get to his feet but fails as at the medical staff engulfs him. Its hard to watch and both men are badly hurt. "Fight of the Night"

Jeremy Stephens KO’d Dennis Bermudez by Jumping Knee at 0:32 of the 2nd round.

"Lil Heathen" clipped Bermudez early into the fight but Dennis has cut Stephen's right eye. Both men are exchanging bombs but Bermudez lands more often and secures a takedown to earn the opening round.

A right hand drops Dennis but he battles back and a superman punch drops Stephens. Jeremy defends the takedown and these guys are going for broke.

The final round and the fight is very close. Bermudez pushes his way across the cage and Stephens, out of room with his back agaist the fence, unloads a jumping knee that waylays Bermudez into a living death! Wow. That would have been "fight of the night" on any other evening.

NOT THAT GUNNER NELSON

Gunnar Nelson submitted Brandon Thatch via RNC at 2:54 of the opening round.

"Fedor Jr." rebounded nicely folding Thatch into himself like a black hole. Elbows as Nelson takes his grappling position and it isn't long before the arm goes under Brandon's chin and the tap is forced. "Submission of the Night"

Thomas Almeida KO’d Brad Pickett by a raging Flying Knee at 0:20 of the 2nd round.

"One Punch" clipped the Brazilian with a left hand and then followed it up with a knee strike that rocked Almeida to the floor. Thomas is bleeding when he lands a left that crashes Pickett to the canvas. Back to the feet and these men are going to war with strikes! Crazy opening five minutes.

Thomas comes out with a walk off flying knee KO of death, and the Brit has been murdered before our eyes. Jesus fucking christ that was epic. "KO of the Night"

Fox Sports 1 Prelim Results

Matt Brown tapped Tim Means via Guillotine Choke at 4:44 of the initial round of a short war!

The "Immortal" has officially established that he has, "the best elbows in the business," as he used said weapon to hurt Means standing. Brown followed Tim to the ground where he secured the guillotine for which he would not be denied. As fun a scrap as predicted.

Alex Garcia defeated Mike Swick by Unanimous Decision (30-27 2x, 29-28).

Garcia controlled Swick who generally looks like he just doesn't have "it" anymore and it may be time to retire. Nothing to hang his head about, the guy was sadly denied his prime because of injuries and illness. Alex did not impress but easily won.

John Howard Upset Cathal Pendred via Split Decision (29-28 2x, 28-29).

A little bit of power can go a long way against a guy who is glacially plodding. "Doomsday" proved MMAFO correct on our Upset Special as he ran game on Pendred. One judge was an idiot as the win obvsiouly went to the correct fighter.

Cody Garbrandt defeated Henry Briones by Unanimous Decision (30-27 3x).

There are rumors that Cody was suffering from a bad injury but he still managed to shut out his opponent and remain undefeated.

Louis Smolka defeated Neil Seery via Unanimous Decision (30-27 3x).

This was a fun fight that will prolly be forgotten. It was an interesting contrast of grappling styles but Smolka was a touch smoother and a step ahead the whole time.

Cody Pfister defeated Yosdenis Cedeno by Unanimous Decision (29-28 3x).

There was nothing special to note about this fight. Wrestling won out in the end and both guys looked bad.

MMAFO went 7-4 but to be fair, we had to pick against our boy Conor McGregor or the MMA Gods would have screwed Ireland. "We did what we had to do to ensure a win."

John Howard completed our Upset Special and the "Quick Picks" are now up for TUF 21 finale.
