UFC on ESPN 6 Weidman vs. Reyes: Fight Card & Musings

October 18, 2019
TD Garden
Boston, Massachusetts
* Just a reminder, this event will take place on FRIDAY, and not Saturday! *
Main Card on ESPN (8pm/CT):
Chris Weidman (14-4) +130 vs. #9 Dominick Reyes (11-0) -150
Anyone else expecting Weidman to dominate this bout for about 10+ minutes before collapsing in devastating defeat? Weidman once called himself the GOAT at 185 before going 1-4, in his last 5 with all the losses coming via brutal (T)KO destruction. Now Chris looks for new life at 205 but the obvious worry is his durability after all of those debilitating losses and facing injury after injury outside of the Octagon. At 35, the Serra-Longo fighter is heading the wrong way fast and will need to get this win just to remain relevant in the company. The guy is a talented grappler and leaning on that skill as he did against Kelvin Gastelum would be a smart move.
"The Devastator" has been rolling strong but ran into a few challenges against Volcano Oezdemir in his last outing, though he did eke out the Split Decision. Reyes is 29, coming into his prime, and still improving his game.
It's hard to pick against a cat that was once so talented and he was having success in a lot of those recent losses up until he was flatlined. So, it's a risky bout to pick as Weidman might be able to stay safe and employ his wrestling, or he might eat something from Reyes that leaves him thinking of retirement. We lean so narrowly to Chris one last time but we don't feel confident about it.
Upset Pick WiNNER-Chris Weidman by Decision

#8 Yair Rodriguez (11-2,1) -110 vs. Jeremy Stephens (28-16,1) -110 [Rematch?]
It's kind of a rematch as the 1st meeting was halted a mere 15 seconds into the contest after Rodriguez poked Stephens in the eye. What was especially odd about the finish, or lack thereof, was that Yair then turned into a petulant child throwing a tantrum and bemoaning Jeremy as a quitter and cheater despite the replay showing the obvious eye poke as legitimate from multiple angles. "Pantera" doubled-down on his ignorance going on to multiple interviews and saying the "Lil Heathen" "he's the only one who's gonna have to live with that in his mind for the rest of his lift if it was a lie." again insinuating that Stephens had quit! This led to an on camera confrontation at the hotel in which Jeremy shoved Yair in the chest and both men called each other gay slurs showing the class of both individuals (i.e. none).
Now, almost a month later, they're back to do the damn thing again with Stephens upping the ante stating, "I'm gonna kill this kid. If he don't die, it don't count."
Both of these grown men are complete morons but MMAFO isn't going to lie as we are very interested in this grudge match! Yair has been decimated online as MMA fans wonder why this infrequent fighter suddenly thinks he's somebody special and refuses to acknowledge any wrongdoing on his part.
As for Jeremy, we're talking about a guy who in 2012, attacked a man with associate Dustin James Bachman, and beat the victim so badly that he, "stopped breathing twice." according to Police reports.
So, these are two horrible human beings and we just sit back and hope they destroy each other in the cage for our amusement.
WiNNER-Jeremy Stephens by Rd.1 TKO

Greg Hardy vs. Ben Sosoli
Seriously, fuck this dude already. MMAFO and everyone else had stated our opinion on this human pile of garbage and we refuse to support his career or view his fights. Keep notifying the UFC in every way possible that this cunt should not be representing our beloved sport.

Joe Lauzon vs. Jonathan Pearce
C'mon man, nobody wants to see "J-Lau" get wrecked anymore especially in his homeland. Someone stop this.
WiNNER-Jonathan Pearce by Rd.1 TKO

Maycee Barber vs. Gillian Robertson
Robertson is a bit underrated at women's 125 but this is a bad matchup for her. Barber has the power to break her up while avoiding Gillian's ground prowess. Just keep both names in mind as they have bright futures in the sport.
WiNNER-Maycee Barber by Decision

Deron Winn vs. Darren Stewart
Dammit "D-Winn" ya gotta make weight! Learn to grab the towel like your hero Daniel Cormier. Deron is "DC's" protege at AKA but came in 2.5 lbs. over the limit and if you know anything about MMAFO, it's that making weight is the most basic part of being a professional fighter and we hate when fuckers miss it! (sighs) Anywho, Winn shouldn't struggle much here since Stewart isn't very good and "DC" we are sorry for the joke at your expense. We still love you!
WiNNER-Deron Winn by Decision

Prelims on ESPN 2 (5pm/CT):
Charles Rosa vs. Manny Bermudez
The scale continues to be the battle as Bermudez missed weight by 2 lbs.! Manny missed weight by 4 lbs. against Benito Lopez, and couldn't make weight against Casey Kenney so the bout was changed two days prior to the weigh-ins to a catchweight bout. Bermudez obviously doesn't care about being a professional since he can't make weight in two different weight classes so just cut him already! Fucking douchebag. Fuck this fight. No picks!

Molly sporting our Celts on her Instagram!
Molly McCann vs. Diana Belbita
Um, not to be total dicks here but, Belbita has no business being in the UFC and that will be apparent Friday night.
Molly "Meatball" is going to run game over the (ahem) "Warrior Princess."
WiNNER-Molly McCann by Rd.2 TKO

Kyle Bochniak vs. Sean Woodson
"Crash's" UFC record is an abysmal 2-4 but he's hung in there in each loss and against tough competition.
Much like the above mentioned Diana Belbita, Woodson isn't ready for the the UFC level competition.
WiNNER-Kyle Bochniak by Decision

Randy Costa vs. Boston Salmon
Joe Lauzon's boy from Boston, against a guy named Boston fighting in Boston, from Hawaii. How about that?
Upset Pick WiNNER-Boston Salmon by Decision

Court McGee vs. Sean Brady
Here's a couple of guys who are going to spark a bathroom break. It's not that they aren't decent fighters or anything, they just seem to drain the energy out of the room with their presence. Court has been around forever and he's about done facing a cat on the come up. Whatevs.
WiNNER-Sean Brady by Rd.3 TKO

Brendan Allen vs. Kevin Holland
WiNNER-Kevin Holland by Decision

Daniel Spitz vs. Tanner Boser
Boser fights out of Shaved Bears MMA and that's pretty funny so we'll pick him over the very tall and not much else Spitz.

WiNNER-Tanner Boser by Rd.2 TKO
