UFC Fight Night 169 Benavidez vs. Figueiredo: Fight Card, Prognostications + Odds

February 29, 2020
Chartway Arena
Norfolk, Virginia
Main Card on ESPN+ (7pm/CT):
Flyweight Title Fight
#2 Joseph Benavidez -150 vs. #4 Deiveson Figueiredo +140

"Joe B-Wan Kenobi" has been fighting the damn fight since 2006, and became the perennial contender to never win the big one. Fighting as a pro since 2006, "Beefcake" has become one of the most successful Team Alpha Male members sporting a 15-3 UFC record staying atop the division for his entire tenure.
"JObama" has beaten everyone save for Demetrious Johnson, and we're not even going to entertain that bullshit blind judges decision against Sergio Jr. Rolando is now 35 and this may be his final shot to attain the belt.

"Deus Da Guerra" joined the UFC in 2017 and quickly racked up a 6-1 record in the promotion (only losing to another perennial contender Jussier Formiga). The Brazilian has a strong pimp hand and that fast-twitch muscle reflexes that allow him maximum movement with lightning speed. Figueiredo is a strong finisher especially with his hands.

MMAFO would be remiss if we did not address the lack of "Cringe" in the room. Henry Cejudo defeated suspended cheater TJ Dillashaw January 19, 2019 and then lost his damn mind! Henry suddenly thought he was a superstar and overestimated his popularity. Cejudo refused to defend the belt, possibly because Benavidez already defeated him in 2016, and has now been stripped of the gold.

Jesus we hate saying this but we thinks Joey missed his window. Deiveson has more power than about anyone at this weight and can bomb. "Joey Two Times" is going to be damn near perfect for 25 minutes and we're just not seeing it. "The God of War" is going to bring Hell quickly.

Upset Pick WiNNER-Deiveson Figueiredo by Rd.2 TKO

Felicia Spencer -810 vs. Zarah Fairn dos Santos +640

"The Feenom" tapped Megan Anderson in her promotional debut and then equated herself well in a loss to Cristiane Justino last July.

The women's Featherweight division is shallow and "Infinite" isn't going to fill up anything.

WiNNER-Felicia Spencer by Rd.2 Submission

Ion Cuțelaba +185 vs. Magomed Ankalaev -200

Ion don't give a fuck and it's kill or be killed every time out. It's a lot of fun but the results are mixed.

The Dagestani isn't one for games and he puts the Moldovan away early.

WiNNER-Magomed Ankalaev by Rd.1 TKO

Megan Anderson -240 vs. Norma Viana Dumont +220

We're not really sure why the UFC is limping along with the ladies 145 but Anderson should be able to kickbox her way to a win while mixing in her new grappling work. That, and we have no idea who Dumont is.

WiNNER-Megan Anderson by Decision

Grant Dawson -460 vs. Darrick Minner +410

"KGD" should win if he doesn't pulse his way into another supesnsion.

WiNNER-Grant Dawson by who cares?

Gabriel Silva -120 vs. Kyler Phillips +110

Upset Pick WiNNER-Kyler Phillips

Brendan Allen +135 vs. Tom Breese -145

Upset Pick WiNNER-Brendan Allen

Prelims on ESPN+:
Luis Peña -250 vs. Alexander Muñoz? +230

The "Violent Bob Ross" will win this but MMAFO still says he's overrated and won't even be a contender in his career.

WiNNER-Luis Pena by Rd.2 Submission

Marcin Tybura +100 vs. Sergey Spivak -110

"The Polar Bear" all day here as we wave goodbye to Tybura.

WiNNER-Sergey Spivak by Rd.2 Submission

Jordan Griffin -125 vs. T.J. Brown +115

What are we doing here UFC?

WiNNER-Jordan Griffin by Decision

Spike Carlyle +168 vs. Aalon Cruz -180

There is just something about the cut of the "Alpha Ginger's" gib that we just like.

Upset Pick WiNNER-Spike Carlyle by Decision

Ismail Naurdiev -125 vs. Sean Brady +115

WiNNER-Ismail Naurdiev
