Andy Ologun defeats Katsuaki Furuki by Decision and bla bla bla on this fight.
Kazuyuki Miyata defeats Caol Uno by Unanimous Decision and though Uno can always find work in Japan, his relevance is waining.
Hideo Tokoro pulls the Armbar on Kazuhisa Watanabe who held his own on the floor for almost 3 rounds. Kaz did alright for a pro boxer/K-1 fighter/MMA newbie but it is what it is. "Submission Of The Night"
Oh no, Hiroshi Izumi TKO's Ikuhisa Minowa in the final round. Hiroshi might be for real as he unloaded strikes all day and "Minowaman" absorbed as many as he could. "Fight Of The Night"
Sergei Kharitonov KO's poor Tatsuya Mizuno with a knee and some strikes as the Russian makes a successful return to MMA and looks forward to a career in K-1. Tatty didn't use the greatest takedown clipping and running instead of looking to ground the now bulbous Sergei. Instead he met the red's power and went to sleep. "KO Of The Night"
Alistair Overeem KO'd Todd Duffee in a mere 19 seconds to become the DREAM Heavyweight Champion along with his Strikeforce Heavyweight title and the 2010 K-1 Grand Prix Champion for a pretty damn good year. Todd came out strong but it was amusing how small he looked against the onslaught of giant sized "uber-knees" from the "Demolition Man." It was pinpoint striking from Alistair and Duffee was left unconscious through the ropes.
Satoshi Ishii got by Jerome Le Banner by Unanimous Decision. Ishii grounded Le Banner but gassed himself out and showed limited striking skills again. Not so sure that the Satoshi experiment is going to work out.
Marius Zaromskis defeats Kazushi Sakuraba by TKO (Doctor Stoppage) after Saku's right ear became detached. Yes I said detached. Saku inexplicably stood with Marius who battered his right ear until it detached. When you begin literally falling apart in the ring, it becomes time to retire old friend.
Jason High upsets Hayato Sakurai by Split Decision. I was surprised to see High ground "Mach" and control him for most of the right. "Mach" rocked Jason late but he went to the recover wrestling takedown and survived.
Tatsuya Kawajiri grinds out Josh Thomson by Unanimous Decision. Tatsuya almost locked in the arm-triangle a couple of times but mainly just G&P'd the "Punk" until the final bell. I'm very happy for Kawajiri who earns a big win and for Josh who lost and is a dick.
Finally, Hiroyuki Takaya defeated Bibiano Fernandes by Unanimous Decision to become the new DREAM Featherweight Champion. Japan got what it wanted as Takaya’s father, who left Chiba for northern Hokkaido during "Streetfight Bancho’s" wild youth in order to escape his son’s criminal reputation as a motorcycle gangster, smiled as his son was announced the winner.
"Martial arts changed my life. I want to give back to the martial arts with my contribution tonight," said the new champion.
10-2 on the picks and Bob Sapp tried to renegociate his contract in the dressing rooms before his bout so of course it never happened.
