Strikeforce Henderson vs. Babalu II
December 4, 2010Scottrade Center
St. Louis, Missouri
Main Bouts (On Showtime):
Dan Henderson (25-8) vs. Renato Sobral (36-8) [Rematch] A rematch 10 years in the making with Light Heavyweight title implications as far as the old men's vision can see. Both of these legends have the end of their careers in view but 1 will stay relevant for a bit longer. Personally, "Hendo" has far better cardio and can stop a fight many ways while "Babalu" relies on his grappling skill which Dan will be quite equipped to handle. As Renato wears down Henderson takes over and probably stops the Sobral as 2 of my all time favorites battle. It really is a "Legends Dream Fight" though it would have been better a few years earlier.
WINNER-Dan Henderson by Rd.3 TKO
Matt Lindland (22-7) vs. Robbie Lawler (17-6) I don't like the "Law's" chances to leave this fight on his feet. Lindland is far past his prime and Lawler can own the clinch and stay away while employing the hand grenades under the gloves. Matt has been KO'd cold 3 times in his career and the last 1 against Vitor Belfort in 2009 was scary as he lay unconscious for a long time. This could happen the same way as "Ruthless" needs to be ruthless as he puts away the Team Quest founder who looks seriously at retiring.
WINNER-Robbie Lawler by Rd.1 KO
Scott Smith (17-7) vs. Paul Daley (25-9-2) The "Hands Of Stone" cuts down to Welterweight for the 1st time against "Semtex" and something tells me we are going to see a stand up war! Smith's come from behind heroics aside, Daley is the better, faster, and stronger stand up fighter with tighter accuracy and technical skill. That being said, Scott's hands always possess 1-punch KO power though the percentages say nay.
WINNER-Paul Daley by Rd.3 TKO
Antonio Silva (14-2) vs. Mike Kyle (18-7-1) "Bigfoot" gets "Mak" as a replacement for Overeem Light and I got Silva all day everywhere this fight could go. Kyle should not be allowed to fight anyone anywhere but I grow tired of saying this to no avail.
WINNER-"Bigfoot" by Decision
Benji Radach (21-5) vs. Ovince St. Preux (8-4) Poor Benji just cannot stay healthy enough to fight consistency as he comes in after yet another year off due to injury. Ovince (good luck pronouncing his name) is actually a bit underrated here with a sturdy MMA game and a mere 15 days since he last fought. There is really a chance for an Upset here but a healthy Radach is a beast on the feet and is definitely hungry. This weekend I'm rolling those dice a lot!
