UFC 126 Results, Play By Play, & Top Honor Winners

Mike Pierce vs Kenny Robertson
Mike does his thang early winning the 1st round with his wrestling. They both trade to start the 2nd but Kenny gets clipped and goes down. A nice
TKO win for Pierce who has stopped his last 2 opponents and may not be so boring after all.

Kyle Kingsbury vs Ricardo Romero
The ballerina delivers a slurry of knees before he ends the night with a left hook and some extra G&P. The
TKO took all of 21 seconds! Wow was that quick and deadly. "KO Of The Night"

Paul Taylor vs Gabe Ruediger
Rd.2 The 1st had nothing to offer but in the 2nd, Taylor lands a left that hurts "Godzilla" followed by a right hand and a high kick that puts Gabe out and hopefully out of the UFC!

The Facebook stream works this time and is actually quite clear.
Norifumi Yamamoto vs Demetrious Johnson
Rd.1 “Kid” shaved off the ghey mow hawk. Both men respectively cautious early. Then “Mighty Mouse” lands 3 lightning fast takedowns and little else. 10-9 Johnson
Rd.2 Cautious again until Yamamoto lands a takedown but doesn’t follow up. A low kick to the pills halts the action. Dem hits the takedown but “Kid” beautifully rolls through it. “Kid” losing the standup before landing a solid left hook the announcers didn’t see and talked through. 2 more takedowns for Johnson though they accomplish nothing on the floor. “Kid” is getting out quicked (never thought I’d say that). Yamamoto lands a huge knee but halts telling the ref his opponent was down. What a show of class! “MM’s” eye is swollen from the knee. 10-9 Johnson
Rd.3 Another takedown for Johnson and a bewildered Yamamoto is doing nothing. Now “Kid” gets hurt from a strike and eats a high kick before, you guessed it, another takedown. 10-9 Johnson
* MMAFO scores the bout a clean sweep, 30-27 for Johnson as do the official judges (though 1 judge somehow found a round for “Kid”). Trainer Matt Hume had his man follow a perfect game plan and a horrid debut for the highly disappointing Yamamoto.

Now we begin Spike TV's effort with....
Chad Mendes vs Michihiro Omigawa
Rd.1 They feel out and then Mendes cannot get a takedown. Chad lands some strikes but he may have injured his hand. "Money" finally lands the takedown but Omigawa almost secured an armbar and Mendes retreats back to the feet. 10-9 Mendes
Rd.2 A 2 punch combo drops Omigawa and Mendes is dropping some elbows and G&P. More heavy shots and "Money" escapes a kneebar. Chad scoring now with the right hand repeatedly. Mich's great balance prevents a solid takedown attempt. Chad feeling the striking now adding leg kicks again. Omigawa starts to land but Chad stalls holding a failed single leg. Flying knee misses for "Money" and a big takedown to end the round. Mich is bloody now. 10-9 Mendes
Rd.3 The left eye of Omigawa has a bad cut directly above his eye. Michihiro still coming and sprawls out a takedown. Omigawa pulls a nice guillotine attempt but Chad has the beautiful counter to escape. Chad controlling on top but Mich is trying to attack from his back. Back to the feet a desperate Omigawa eats a left hand but Chad is slowing down. After I say it, Mendes lands what will probably be the last takedown of the night. 10-9 Mendes
* MMAFO scores the bout 30-27 for "Money" Mendes who did just win me $$$. The judges agree.

We get a replay from earlier in the night when Kyle Kingsbury TKO's Ricardo Romero in just 21 seconds! Kyle is a big dude for 205 lbs.

Donald Cerrone vs Paul Kelly
Rd.1 The "Cowboy" makes his UFC debut against "Tellys." They go to touch hands and "Tellys" swings on Cerrone who takes him down. What a dick move. Don landing some good strikes early and is keeping calm and unaffected after the sucker punch. Kelly is landing more and more now and calling on the "Cowboy" who is now losing the stand up. Cerrone hits a takedown and slowly lands some G&P but Paul gets cut very badly. The "Cowboy" helps up Kelly at the end of the round which was weird considering. 10-9 Cerrone
Rd.2 "Tellys" talking early and we exchange. Don hits a takedown but lands in a guillotine. Cerrone escapes and controls from the top. Kelly mounted and eats a big punch and elbow. Cerrone takes the back and locks a body triangle. Don softens him up with strikes and locks in a super tight RNC. "Tellys" taps out! "Submission Of The Night"
* The "Cowboy" wins by RNC and is very respectful considering the dick move from his opponent to begin the night. Kelly comes over during the Joe Rogan interview and apologizes. Donald sends love to his Grandpa and wins his UFC debut!

We now see video from the weigh-ins where Anderson Silva donned a mask to face off with Vitor Belfort. Then the two begin arguing in Portuguese have to be separated at a very intense meeting. We now see a live shot of Anderson Silva in the locker room laughing as he watches the weigh-in video. Gabe Ruediger is next to him and that's the closest "Godzilla" will ever get to greatness in his career ;)

Time for the PPV to begin with....
Miguel Torres vs Antonio Banuelos
The mariachi music hits and "Angel" is coming to the cage.
Rd.1 I understand "building a fight," but we are at the 2:21 minute mark before the commentators say something fight related. Torres hits a takedown but can't hold Banuelos. "Angel" starts landing that super long left jab as the crowd begins to boo. Antonio misses a spinning back kick and the round ends with little action. 10-9 Torres
Rd.2 It's the jab all night long and it gets heavier as the round extends. 10-9 Torres
Rd.3 Jab, jab, jab and some jabs as Torres pownes Antonio. 10-9 Torres
* The crowd doesn't like it but "Angel" wins 30-27 across the board from MMAFO and the official judges.

Jake Ellenberger vs Carlos Eduardo Rocha
"Ta Danado" comes in to a little Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby." Jake enters to Seether's "Remedy."
So the boys hook it up and Rocha seems to have Jake off his game counter grappeling and almost finishing with a kimura. In the 2nd Ellen gets his groove on and begins to power strike inter mixed with takedowns. Rinse repeat for the 3rd and Jake wins a Split-Decision.
* Jake did not look as amazing as he had in the past and Rocha looks like with some cardio training he might make some noise yet.

Jon Jones vs Ryan Bader
"Darth" enters to Ozzy's "I Don't Wanna Stop" rockin' the building.
Rd.1 "Bones" seems calm and in control, moving around the outside before shooting in and taking down Bader. "Darth" looks for a guillotine, but Jones rolls through and winds up in side control, then north-south position. Back to the feet, Jones stuffs the double and puts Bader on his ass. "Bones" hits some elbows to end a controlled 1st round. 10-9 Jones
Rd.2 Jon hits a trip takedown and then locks on a seemingly basic guillotine. Jones wrenches it awkwardly to the side and Bader taps! Amazing. The choke didn't look that good until Jones torqued it and Ryan taps after looking very bad.
** Joe Rogan informs Jon Jones that he is now the #1 contender and will step in to face Mauricio Rua as Rashad Evans has blown out his knee and is it out. Major announcement that the UFC did well at keeping hid. Jones had no idea this was coming and drops to his knees thanking god for his good fortune instead of his own hard work. Wow, "Shogun" vs "Bones" is great and now maybe Rashad Evans will learn the hard lesson about staying away from competition to keep your title shot.

Forrest Griffin vs Rich Franklin
"Ace" comes out to "For Those About To Rock" by AC/DC as always and Griffin enters with Dropkick Murphy's "Shipping Up To Boston."
This was not the fight we expected. Rich looked very slow and unsure while the usually nervous Forrest got takedowns and won on the feet as well. Rich may have hurt his left arm or hand again as he seemed to shake it out frequently and throw it rarely. At the end of the day Forrest wins in a baffling performance by Franklin.

Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva vs Vitor Belfort
Rd.1 The 2 combatants come out and the feeling out process begins for a good 1:30 or so. A high kick misses for the "Spider" and the "Phenom" takes him down. They both pop back up and Silva is looking more comfortable as he drops his hands lazily to the side. Vitor is throwing more but no connections and Silva lands a front, or "push" kick to the jaw of Belfort who crashes to the canvas. Only 2 more strikes are needed (a right and a left) and the referee must save the badly hurt Belfort. Anderson Silva retains his Middleweight title, winning 14 bouts in a row, 12 inside the Octagon, and successfully defending his title for the 8th time in a row!!

9-2 on the picks and nobody earned "Fight Of The Night"
