Main Card (PPV):
Rich Franklin defeats Wanderlei Silva by Unanimous Decision (49-46, 49-46, 49-46) in an exciting rematch! "Ace" came out in his Jim Carrey "Dumb & Dumber" haircut and proceeded to jab the crap out of Silva while connecting with his power left hand. The "Axe Murderer" may an appearance, albeit a short one, as he connected and dropped Rich and then pounced unleashing an onslaught worthy of his Pride FC days. Wand gave all he had and the fight could have easily been stopped (I know I was screaming for the stoppage) but Franklin survived to see the 3rd round (though he admitted later to not remembering it). From then on, Silva was too tired to throw and Franklin picked him apart with ease. In the waining moments of the final round, Wand called for the support of the crowd and gave it one last effort. The two legends and future hall of famers went to war again to thrill the Brazilian fans.
Cezar Ferreira defeats Sergio Moraes by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27) to become the Brazilian Middleweight Ultimate Fighter. Vitor Belfort's "Phenom" didn't look very impressive. The guy is supposed to be a striking machine but almost got out boxed by a Jiu-Jistsu practitioner who came in as a replacement for shit's sake. Sergio played to the crowd a lot but also ran for the 1st two rounds which seemed to be the theme of the weekend.
Rony Mariano Bezerra defeats Godofredo Pepey by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) to become the Brazilian Featherweight Ultimate Fighter. So "Rony Jason" came out crying like a little girl and then fought like one. He won yes, but only by out striking (barely) a Jiu-Jitsu fighter who had little skill on the feet in what was a boring bout. Neither man impressed but maybe if "Jason" brought some of the horror his nickname is based upon instead of the tears, he might have had a decent fight.
Fabricio Werdum TKO’s Mike Russow in the 1st round and nearly jumps out of the Octagon in celebration! A nice win for the ever improving "Vai Cavalo" but we all kinda knew Mike can't hang at the top of the Heavyweight division.
Hacran Dias Upsets Yuri Alcantara by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27). Well, good on ya Dias.
