Jon Jones defeated Daniel Cormier by Unanimous Decision (49-46, 49-46, 49-46) to retain the UFC Light Heavyweight title.
“Bones” came out looking like the champion he is landing an early and vicious knee to the body and followed it up with straight punches to the gut to deplete the challenger. “DC” found his stride in the 2nd, working uppercuts in the clinch and stood toe to toe with Jones. As the 3rd began we get the time honored tradition of Jon poking his opponent in the eye and we take a short recess to let Cormier recover. Back to the action, the men clinch battle for position against the cage and “Bones” lands a nasty elbow before landing a knee to the body that earns him the close round. The 4th saw Daniel taken down for the 1s time in his career, not once, but thrice as Cormier “took the round off” and did very little. The final round begins and it seems to be 3 rounds to 1 and “DC” gets aggressive early but Jones presses him against the fence again as Cormier fails at a takedown. Daniel then gets a big slam on Jonny who pops back up and peppers him with strikes until the final bell. “Fight of the Night”
Unfortunately, the judges got this one right. MMAFO scored the fight 49-46 Jones and it was charitable that some had it 48-47 for Jones. Post fight, “Bones” continued to show his true nature saying
“I know if he would have won, he would have been up here, talking all types of trash, So I don’t feel sorry for him. This is combat. I hope he’s somewhere crying right now – I’m sure he is. I hope he earns his way back so I can whoop him.”
Also true to form, “DC” was pure class in defeat, at times fighting back tears and stating, “By the end of the first round, we both were bleeding, and that’s what a championship should be. And you know what, he got better, and he won the fight. I’ve had to rebuild myself a number of times, like people can’t even imagine. And this is no different. This is not going to ruin me, one way or the other. I’m going to stand across the cage from that man again, and I’ll believe just as I did tonight, that I’ll take the fight to him.”
Once again we learn a valuable lesson here after this bout. Jon Jones is not what he professes to be while Daniel Cormier remains a man of honor who epitomizes what it is to be a noble fighter and man. Its just a shame that “Bones” is such a piece of shit as a human being, because he is so immensely talented as a fighter. But fuck him.
Donald Cerrone defeated Myles Jury by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

A DIFFERENT LOOK FOR THE COWBOY |
The “Cowboy” handled business like it ain’t not thang against the young Jury. Cerrone locked on an Omaplata early and transitioned into the RNC though he could not finish. From there, the Jackson-Winkeljohn product was on cruise control, behind a stellar jab and punishing leg kicks. Unimpressed but his own performance, and angry “Cowboy” unleashed some “fuck you” full force leg kicks on the downed Jury to end the affair with an exclamation point. Cerrone may not have been happy with his performance, but he rolled easily and if someone can manage to get him to sit down for a spell, he should earn the winner of Champion Anthony Pettis versus Rafael dos Anjos later this year.
Brad Tavares defeated Nate Marquardt by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
Jab, sprawl and brawl, and repeat. That is the entirety of this contest. Tavares needs to learn some new offense to get more potent if he ever expects to contend for the title, and its time for Nate to retire.
Kyoji Horiguchi defeated Louis Gaudinot by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27).
The Krazy Bee fighter looked impressive handling the iron chinned Gaudinot with ease. Horiguchi controlled the distance popping his foe from the outside using great angles and power. Louis, as always, was a game fighter but just couldn’t hang.
Hector Lombard defeated Josh Burkman by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28).
This was a weak effort by Lombard and he still dominated Burkman. Josh, looking a bit out of shape, tired very quickly in this meeting and yet Hector still had trouble cutting him off as Burkman circled away and was on his bike for much of the night. When the Cuban did land, he hurt Burkman and it was quickly apparent, Josh was just happy to return to the UFC and content to survive to the final bell.
FOX Sports 1Prelim Results:
Paul Felder KO’d Danny Castillo via Spinning Backfist at 2:09 of the 2nd round.
The Irishman looked like an enormous 155er and landed a spinning backfist that “Last Call” never saw coming. Felder landed clean and Castillo was out cold before he even hit the mat. “KO of the Night”
Garbrandt made MMAFO and himself look good in his debut, as he battered Brimage with his power strikes early and often while keeping his hands very low at the waist. Marcus couldn’t make him pay for it. A right hook in the final round had Brimage on skates and a right/left hook combination forced referee Herb Dean to step in and halt the destruction.
Shawn Jordan KO’d Jared Cannonier via Punches at 2:57 of the initial round.
This happened, nobody cares.
Dunham easily destroyed Damm who just isn’t a good enough striker to compete in the UFC.
UFC Fight Pass Prelim Results:
Omari Akhmedov defeated Mats Nilsson by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).
It wasn’t pretty, but Omari used his head down swinging hook power punches to best Nilsson. Akhmedov has a lot of work to do but he’s humble and willing to work.
Marion Reneau defeated Alexis Dufresne by Unanimous Decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-25) in an ass kicking.
The young 36 year old annihilated Dufresne, who missed weight the prior day, and looked like she was physically depleted the moment the fight began. That is not to take away from what Reneau was able to accomplish. Marion’s striking was visibly improved and she was in amazing shape. Even UFC President Dana White apologized to her at the post fight presser telling her he was wrong about her being to old. Nice night for Marion and she seems like a genuinely good human being. Welcome to the UFC Ms. Reneau. "Performance of the Night"
MMAFO went 9-3 on the picks to start the beginning of the year. We got 2 of the 3 Upsets correct for a decent start to '15.
