UFC 187 Results: Cormier Becomes Champion While Weidman Retains

Daniel Cormier submitted Anthony Johnson by RNC at 2:35 of the 3rd round to become the new, & undisputed UFC Light Heavyweight Champion!

Right out of the gate an overhand right dropped "DC" but he got right back to his feet and got his wrestling game going. From there, Cormier used strategic positioning to nullify "Rumble" early and forcing him to carry his weight. Anthony started out the 2nd round with two back to back high kicks and finished with a body kick that definitely got Daniel's attention. Just two minutes into the 3rd round, and Johnson is taking big breaths on bottom where he will spend eternity. In the final 30 seconds, "DC" unloads three elbows that slice Johnson open. Tony shakes his head and slowly gets to his feet and eventually to the corner. When Tony's corner told him "three more rounds i got tired," and everyone knew Johnson wanted to quit. In the 3rd round it was "Rumble" taking Daniel down for a mere second as he popped back up to return the favor. "DC" unleashed elbows and punches while threatening with armbar attempts. Finally, "DC" slipped his arm under the throat of "Rumble" who finally tapped to crown Daniel Cormier the new and undisputed UFC Light Heavyweight Champion! "Performance of the Night"

"Jon Jones, get your shit together." Cormier said post fight with the new gold around his waist.

For his part, "Rumble" had words of encouragement for the crowd repeating, "never give up." Even though he just gave up right before us.

Chris Weidman TKO'd Vitor Belfort via Punches and Elbows at 2:53 of the very 1st round to retain the UFC Middeweight title.

The Brazilian cheater thought he had things under control as he unloaded with the ferocity of a TRT infused wolverine, but Weidman simply covered up allowing Vitor to shoot his wad in 30 seconds. Then Chris simply used a low single to take Belfort down and then abused the so called "black belt" before shutting him down as Vitor quit, that's right, QUIT, in the cage for the umpteenth time.

Donald Cerrone TKO'd John Makdessi via Verbal Submission (broken jaw) at 4:44 of the 2nd round.

Makdessi called a timeout which does not exist in MMA and the referee called off the bout. It turns out the "Cowboy" broke John's jaw and secured himself a rematch with RDA and his 1st shot at UFC gold!

Andrei Arlovski TKO'd Travis Browne with Punches at 4:41 of a one round spectacular!

Well that folks, was a slobberknocker! Both man were rocked many a time and Travis' legs locked multiple times as he could barely move. Arlovski hit Travis with a bitch backslap backlist and poured on the punishment as the referee mercifully saved Browne. "(T)KO of the Night"

Joseph Benavidez defeated John Moraga by Unanimous Decision (30-27 3x).
