UFC 197 Results: The Mighty Mouse Show Rolls On!

MAIN CARD Results:
Jon Jones defeated Ovince Saint Preux via Unanimous Decision (50-44, 50-45 2x).
Many (including UFC President Dana White) thought "Bones" looked a bit rusty in his infamous return to the Octagon and they are right. A bit. Jones still handled OSP and though Ovince did land a hard punch at one point, it was about all he could muster against the Interim champ. All of this is just prelude to true Champion Daniel Cormier facing pretender Jon Jones at UFC 200.
Demetrious Johnson TKO'd Henry Cejudo with strikes at 2:49 of the initial round to retain his Flyweight title yet again!
"I'm humbled." said Cejudo post fight. Don't feel so bad lil fella, "Mighty Mouse" does that to everyone. This was a quick and dominant finish but will it be enough to get the fans on the side of the best Pound4Pound fighter in MMA today? Only time will tell but Demetrious is definitely making his case for one of the most dominant UFC champions ever.
*Johnson has now successfully defended his title 8 times, the most among current Zuffa titleholders.
*Demetrious is not the 5th fighter in the UFC to hold a 10 fight winning streak (along with Royce Gracie, Jon Jones, Anderson Silva, & Georges St-Pierre)!
*"Mighty Mouse" has now finished 5 of his last 7 foes.
Edson Barboza defeated Anthony Pettis by Unanimous Decision (29-28 2x, 30-27).
The gunner was out-gunned this evening. Edson didn't need to use Tony's grappling deficiencies against him tonight as he did the damn thing standing and ripping apart Pettis' legs with kicks.
Robert Whittaker defeated Rafael Natal via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 30-27 2x).
This one is no surprise to anyone save for the fact that Natal didn't go unconscious at any time in the bout.

Yair Rodriguez KO'd Andre Fili with a flying switch kick  at 2:15 of the 2nd round!
Yair with an early "KO of the Year" entry with his flying switch kick that was a thing of beauty. Rodriguez has our attention now and is one to watch at 145 for sure. "KO of the Night"
FOX Sports 1 Prelims Results:
Sergio Pettis defeated Chris Kelades via Unanimous Decision (30-27 3x).
A nice win for Sergio as he continues to grow against a gutsy never-say-die competitor.
Danny Roberts defeated Dominique Steele by Unanimous Decision Decision (29-28 3x).
Roberts had the better conditioning down the stretch and was pulling away showcasing better skills, but Steele was not without his moments and damned if that guy doesn't bring the fight to opponents. A fun fight to re-watch. "Fight of the Night"
Carla Esparza defeated Juliana Lima via Unanimous Decision (30-27 3x).
Not much to say here. The "Cookie Monster" used her wrestling skills to slowly find some comfort in the cage after a long layoff. Its a good 1st step and we shall see if she improves from here to contend for the strap she once held. No, not the strap Felice Herrig holds for her.
James Vick defeated Glaico Franca by Unanimous Decision (29-28 2x, 30-27).
Its a shame Vick is coached by such human shit as Lloyd Irvin because one really would like to cheer for him. James is coming along, fighting smart, and delivering with his long limbs. There's a lot to like here and Vick called out Mike Chiesa for a bout which would be interesting but its doubtful Zuffa will give James that big of a jump up in competition next time.
UFC Fight Pass Prelims Results:
Walt Harris TKO'd Cody East via strikes at 4:18 of opening round.
There's a good article by our favorite MMA website Bloody Elbow on just who this Cody East guy is and the baggage he carries to the Octagon (http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2016/2/26/11111414/mma-news-new-ufc-signing-cody-east-troubled-past-includes-rape-assault-child-abuse). Great work by Mookie Alexander.
Harris is just another heavy that slings leather but doesn't have much else to offer.
Marcos Rogerio de Lima submitted Clint Hester via Arm Triangle at 4:35 of round uno.
Well, that should be the last for Hester on this UFC run. Marcos handled him early, hurt him, and tapped him out. "Submission of the Night"
Kevin Lee defeated Efrain Escudero by Unanimous Decision (29-28 3x).
The cocky Mr. Lee had more trouble against Escudero than he had planned but gutted out a close fight.

9-3 on the nose picking.
