Bellator 179 Results:

Rory MacDonald submitted Paul Daley via Rear Naked Choke at 1:45 of the 2nd round to make a successful Bellator debut.

It took the "Red King" 0:23 to take "Sextex" down into his world. MacDonald then spends the rest of the round frustrating and elbowing Daley. The 2nd round began and Rory lands a head kick but this time it takes a whole 0:26 to take Paul into the abyss. Now MacDonald moves side to side on Daley dropping elbows which allows him the opening to take the back. The "Armani Assassin" sinks in the choke and the Brit quickly taps.

Its a dominate debut for MacDonald who post fight tells Bellator Welterweight Champion Douglas Lima and challenger Lorenz Larkin“I will take that belt and I will take your health.” Be afraid Bellator Welterweights. Be very afraid!

* Post fight, Paul Daley got into an altercation with Michael Page in the crowd likely leading to a showdown that should be fun!

Linton Vassell submitted Liam McGeary via Arm Triangle Choke at 2:28 of the final round.

McGeary tried to get his striking going early and did well initially, but it was a takedown and top control that brought Vassell swiftly back into the fight. The 2nd began, and Liam's striking looks even better but the porous takedown defense allows Linton to get the takedown and he controls the rest of the round. An easy takedown leads to Vassell earning full mount and he secures the submission and the tapout.

* Linton has now won 3 in a row and is really showing improvement and intelligence using the Phil Davis playbook to defeat McGeary. Vassell may have moved himself into title contention yet again.

* Okay Liam, you have worked on your striking, now its time to learn some takedown defense. McGeary's Jiu-Jitsu is just no effective enough at this level as he is getting abused by wrestling. Its not all over for Liam who is making progress in his game but its just not enough yet.

Dan Vinni TKO'd Alex Lohore 0:56 into the 2nd round.

Lahore is still looking like a prospect to watch at 170 but obviously he needs a bigger test.

Cheick Kongo eked out another win over Augusto Sakai by Split Decision (28-29, 29-28 2x).

Christ almighty Kongo is boring. Let's bring in Sergei Kharitonov next to stop this painfully plodding putz.

Kevin Ferguson Jr. TKO'd D.J. Griffin at 3:40 of the very 1st round.

Don't care. "Baby Slice" needs to show us something before we pay attention.

Jay Dods TKO'd Alfie Davis in the 1st round.

Stav Economou submitted Dan Konecke by Guillotine at 1:05 of the very 1st round.

Amir Albazi defeated Jamie Powell by Unanimous Decision (30-25, 30-26 2x).

Nathan Jones submitted Umer Kayani Jones via Rear Naked Choke at 4:35 of the opening round.

Fabian Edwards KO'd Rafal Cejrowski at 3:44 of round 1 with a Flying Knee!

Dayum! Rafal was never in this bout but the emphatic ending by Fabian was picturesque. "KO of the Night"

Jeremy Petley defeated Chase Morton by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-26).

Mike Shipman TKO'd Marcin Prostko at 2:39 of the initial round.

Salih Kulucan submitted Diego Barbosa via Heel Hook) at 2:18 of the 1st stanza. "Submission of the Night"

4-1 on the picks.
