Fighter of the Year
Demetrious Johnson
“Mighty Mouse” is the only UFC Flyweight in history and he has held the gold for 5 years. In 2017, Johnson defeated Wilson Reis and Ray Borg both via armbar. The most impressive part of Demetrious’ year, was his 11th successful title defense, not only a record, but one that is likely to grow and unlikely to ever be broken. MMA history doesn’t come around often people.
Female Fighter of the Year
Rose Namajunas
“Thug” Rose rebounded in 2017 by soundly defeating Michelle Waterson, before shocking the world, and upsetting Joanna Jedrzejczyk to become only the 2nd holder of the women’s Strawweight title. It wasn’t just that Rose won the title, it was that she destroyed Joanna in a single round, and did so as one of the biggest underdogs of all time.
Breakout Fighter of the Year
Robert Whittaker
"Free Agent" Fighter of the Year
Paddy Pimblett
The fresh faced 23 year old may have suffered a loss this year, but nobody sold more tickets or created as much hype outside of the "major" MMA promotions. The "Baddy's" comeback will be the biggest event in Liverpool in 2018.

Most Improved Fighter of the Year
Volkan Oezdemir
The Swiss sensation made the move to the America and the UFC to train and ply his trade. "No Time" began working with the Combat Club and went from a decent fighter to help the lagging 205 division, to the #1 contender to the crown in a single year!

Prospect of the Year
Kamaru Usman
Fight of the Year
Justin Gaethje vs. Michael Johnson
These two men competed for 9:48 in an absolute war of attrition at the TUF 25 Finale. Justin was making his UFC debut and looking to make his mark, while Mike was vying to be a title contender. The two combatants dueled within the proverbial phone booth cracking with power and precision. Watch and be wowed.

Knockout of the Year
Francis Ngannou vs. Alistair Overeem
Mother of god! At UFC 218, the “Cameroon Crusher” unleashed an uppercut that knocked Overeem past Hell’s gates. It was naughty.
Submission of the Year
Demetrious Johnson's Suplex-Armbar
Check this, at UFC 216, “Mighty Mouse” tossed Ray Borg into the goddamn air via suplex technique, caught him mid-air, applied the armbar, and then hit the ground to secure the tapout and retain his title. The guy is a freaking video game character.

Comeback of the Year
Darren Elkins
“The Damage,” the guy with the worst tattoo in all of sports, got completely bludgeoned by undefeated Mirsad Bektic at UFC 209, and was a swollen bloody mess before the start of the final round. Then, the Alpha Male fighter rallied with a vicious head kick and punches like Lazarus rising from the dead.
Upset of the Year
Rose Namajunas
See MMAFO’s “Female Fighter of the Year” for more information on Gertrude’s destruction of Joanna “Violence.”
Beating of the Year
Frankie Edgar vs. Yair Rodriguez
UFC 211 was to be young prospect Rodriguez’s coming out party, but old man Edgar had different ideas. The 36 year old veteran took on the youth 11 years his junior, and beat the holy hell from him! Yair had no answers and Frank taught the upstart a valuable, though embarrassing lesson.
Rivalry of the Year
TJ Dillashaw vs. Cody Garbrandt
"Hate, is what I feel for you. And I want you to know that I want you dead!"
Whether is was Cody's eagle's claw clutching the throat of TJ, or Garbrandt releasing video of himself knocking down Dillashaw in sparring days before their fight, or "Killashaw" screaming in the face of "No Love" after their epic fight, these two men seethed with loathing and vitriol for each other and it was real!

Round of the Year
Round Two Dustin Poirier vs. Eddie Alvarez
At UFC 211, these men squared off in a barnburner, but the grappling exchanges in the 2nd round stole the show and we didn't even get a damn finish! Great stuff.

Entrance of the Year
Fedor Emelianenko "Faith Is Eternal"
Coach of the Year
Trevor Wittman
Time to finally give some love to the Grudge Training Center's head man who helped take Rose Namajunas to the title, revived a near dead Nate Marquardt, continues to train wild man Justin Gaethje, as well as Brandon Girtz, Justin Wren, Rashad Evans, Gerald Harris, and has worked with Stipe Miocic, Neil Magny, Donald Cerrone, and some guy named Georges St-Pierre.

Gym of the Year
Story of the Year
Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather
Jesus this was a debacle from the beginning to the very end. A pointless bout to simply make money at the expense of sanity and these two made the most of it. Both men feigned a distaste for each other all the while working together behind the scenes and on private jets scheming to make that almighty dollar. It was disgusting to MMAFO but the idiot populous bought in and there was no stopping this farce of a fight.
Cheater of the Year
Jon Jones
Can there be any doubt? How many times have we heard fake Christian “Bones” claim he has grown up and taken control of his life, only to have him fail as a human being. Jones failed a PED test after UFC 214 which was his 87th failure. This piece of shit garbage scumbag couldn’t sink any lower if he injured a pregnant woman in a hit-and-run accident. Oh wait…
Judges Robbery of the Year
Joe Lauzon vs. Marcin Held
It's pretty bad when the winner tells everyone listening post-fight, that his opponent won the night. That is exactly what happened at UFC Fight Night 103 when two awful MMA judges did their worst. One scorer got it right but good on "J-Lau" for being an honest and good guy.
Referee of the Year
Marc Goddard
Ringcard Girl of the Year
Brookliyn Wren
Commentator of the Year
Jon Anik
Color Man of the Year
Brian Stann
And for the last time. MMAFO shed a tear when the real Captain America, Mr. Stann retired from the commentary business for greener pastures. Congrats to Brian but we will miss you!
