Bellator 207 & 208 Fight Cards, Predictions, & Oddities

Bellator 207

Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix
Matt Mitrione (13-5) +280 vs. #3 Ryan Bader (25-5) -310

Matty has been bumping his gums leading up to this fight and "Darth" has been offended! Not really. These guys are friendly but that won't stop either from going in for the kill.

"Meathead" is undefeated since joining Bellator (4-0) backed by his natural athleticism, brutal punching power, and leg kicks when he decides to consistently use them. Makes some odd detrimental choices in the cage though.

"Darth" Bader is rolling as the Bellator Light Heavyweight Champion and winning his last 5. Ryan is an athletic freak who may just find equal success at big heavy with his monster frame. The Power MMA fighter has good power, stellar wrestling, and his confidence is at an all time high.

MMAFO is always going to root for Matt and we'd love him to have his own podcast, but, BUT, Mitrione is known for making mistakes during bouts and not fighting to his strengths. "Meathead" also struggles mightily when on the canvas which is where Bader excels. It all lines up for 15 minutes of Matt trying to avoid being impregnated and losing on the cards.

WINNER-Ryan Bader by Decision

Roy Nelson (23-15) -290 vs. Sergei Kharitonov (27-6) +260

It's been 5 years since "Big Country" gave a shit about this sport. Nelson has gone 5-8 in that time not giving a fuck, relying on his granite chin, and winging that overhand punch for all he's got (which is about 5 minutes worth of effort).

The big Russian lost his Bellator debut, but has since gone 4-0 putting in work in the homeland. Sergei has big power as well but somehow seems less durable than the guy that has taken the most shots to the dome in MMA history! Crazy.

Both guys are going to bomb on common sense here until somebody falls down. It really is a coin flip and who connects 1st and all that shit. It'll be fun if it ends early or just plodding and sad if we see all 15. If we're banging chins, you have to side with the legendary beard of Roy.

WINNER-Roy Nelson by Rd.1 TKO

Kevin Ferguson Jr. (3-1) -840 vs. Corey Browning (2-1) +660

Eh. Other than being "Kimbo Slice's" son, where is the value in KFJ? He's okay. Not an amazing striker or grappler, just okay. "Baby Slice" is wild and doesn't have much experience and we can't say we're very interested in him. He's another Ryan Couture who is signed because of Daddy's name and not much else.

WINNER-Kevin Ferguson Jr. by something

Carrington Banks (7-1) -115 vs. Mandel Nallo (6-0) +105

The "Jetsetter" got humbled a bit losing for the 1st time in his career in May. The wrestler returns looking for the grind where he succeeds.

Nallo won his Bellator debut with a head kick knockout in only 0:18! Not bad at all. Mandel is a submissioner by trade and will need to find something cause he's gonna be on his back a lot.

Could go either way really, but the percentages always lean to a measured wrestlefuck approach.

WINNER-Carrington Banks by Decision

  Lorenz Larkin (19-7-1) -750 vs. Ion Pascu (18-8) +600

"The Monsoon" has struggled since joining the Spartan squad going 1-2 including a title shot loss. It's been a bit bewildering as he should have beaten Paul Daley, but the guy makes mistakes and enjoys the brawl too much. If Lorenz can't defeat the BAMMA "Bombardierul," he's in serious trouble.

WINNER-Lorenz Larkin by Decision

Bellator 208

Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix
Fedor Emelianenko (37-5) -250 vs. Chael Sonnen (30-15-1) +210

"The Last Emperor" has come to reassert his dominance and remind America just who is the greatest Heavyweight fighter of all time! The 42 year old God still has his power, surprising speed, though his durability has obviously wained in recent years.

Since his skid in Strikeforce, Fedor has gone 6-1 in the game and dispatched Frank Mir in a mere (HA, see what we did there?) 0:48.

Chael Sonnen is everything that is wrong in MMA. Why does MMAFO hate him so much you ask?

*  Unallowably high testosterone to epitestosterone ratio of 16.9:1 (4:1 is allowed) because he illegally used TRT.

*  Lied during his testimony at the December 2, 2010 CSAC hearing.

*  Plead guilty to money laundering (mortgage fraud).

*  Failed a random drug test cancelled his bout against Vitor Belfort in 2014.

*  Fake retired from MMA trying to quiet the fact he had failed another drug test on June 28, 2014! He had human growth hormone (HGH), erythropoietin (EPO), anastrozole, and human chorionic gonadotropin in his system!!

The guy is a cheater, a fraud, and not entertaining with his trash talk from old forgotten professional wrestlers that everyone seems to think is so witty. Sonnen is not funny nor intelligent, and his veneer is as see through as Jon Jones. He just lies about everything and then moves on with a shrug pretending like it's part of his shtick and never owning up to his wrongdoings. He's not the "Bad Guy," he's a terrible human being and should be recognized as such. When did it become okay to live the entirety of your life as a piece of shit and it be not only acceptable, but celebrated?

As far as a fighter if we have to do this, he's a smothering grappler. That's it. He's good at it for sure, but that is all there is.

If the MMA Gods influence this outing and give cunt Chael the win, MMAFO will weep bitterly and have to decide whether or not to continue being a MMA fan. It's that important that Fedor win here. It really is good versus evil. An upstanding man who has operated as a true professional through and through for his 18 years in the sport, against a complete fraud who should have been booted from the sport years ago and ignored every time he opens his stupid mouth. Fedor wins and Chael dies is the only acceptable outcome.

WINNER-Fedor Emelianenko by Rd.1 Decapitation

Benson Henderson (25-8) -420 vs. Saad Awad (23-9) +335

Oh "Bendo," what the fuck bro? Henderson has fallen off a goddamn cliff since exiting the UFC as one of the best 155ers in the world. Since, he's gone 2-3 and unable to grab gold despite efforts in two weight classes. He's only 34 but his point fighting game has always baffled judges and fans alike since he is so talented, yet seemingly unwilling to take the chances to win outright. Still, he's got game everywhere and is still a threat.

Has Saad finally turned the corner? Awad has been a contender in Bellator but never broke through that glass ceiling. Millennia's "Assassin" has to have this or be relegated to mid-card status forever.

You never know what ineffective technique Ben is going to rely on to do the majority of his work, but, we've seen how far Saad can go and he should be the victor unless he gives the damn thing away which is possible.

WINNER-Benson Henderson by Decision

Alexander Shlemenko (56-11) -105 vs. Anatoly Tokov (26-2) -115

Do people remember Shlemenko tested positive for the steroid oxandrolone in '15, made "false statements on drug-testing documents," but only served a partial suspension because of errors in the notification letter? Alexander's testosterone to epitestosterone ratio was 50:1 (you are allowed 4:1 in California where the bout took place) which is one of the highest recorded numbers in MMA history! What a fucking cheater and what a fucking joke drug testing has become in all of MMA.

Old Russian, meet young murderous Russian. He's strong, aggressive, and this dude is scary. Also, a protege of one Fedor Emelianenko.

Alex may only be 6 years older, but really he's 55 years older in fight age and he's coming in off a brutal knockout loss to Bruno Silva in M-1. Pass that baton Shlemenko and get the fuck out of the sport. Bye, bye.

WINNER-Anatoly Tokov by Rd.1 KO

Henry Corrales (15-3) -620 vs. Andy Main (12-3-1) +460

"OK" Corrales went through the ringer of killers upon his entrance to Bellator, but he's found his footing winning his last 3. Henry is a MMA Lab fighter and decently well rounded.

Main is getting his biggest career shot here and really did his best work in Pancrase

The odds seem a bit wacky here but we do agree that Corrales likely wins. Whatevs.

WINNER-Henry Corrales by Decision
