UFC 235 Results: Ben Askren & Johnny Walker Steal The Show!

Main Card Results:

Jon Jones defeated Anthony Smith by Unanimous Decision (48-44 3x) to retain the (*interim) Light Heavyweight title.

Well, that went as expected. Smith didn't really "let it all hang out" as many hoped and the only really interesting moment was when Jones blatantly cheated to keep his reputation as a cunt intact. "Bones" delivered an illegal knee to a downed "Lionheart" that was so brazen that referee Herb Dean made a
2-point deduction which is rare in MMA.

Anthony's corner should have advised him to stay down as he would have won the title, but, Smith is a man of honor and fought on. Much respect to the good guy as the bad guy wins again.

Jon Jones was, is, and always will be a cheater.

* MMAFO will continue to refer to this as the Interim title as Daniel Cormier was never defeated for it.

Kamaru Usman defeated by Unanimous Decision (50-45, 50-44 2x) to become the new Welterweight Champion.

Wow, this was as boring as MMAFO predicted. Awful. Nobody wants to see Usman or Woodley anymore and if Tyron cannot find a way to get some, or any form of offense going, he is in serious trouble.

Ben Askren defeated Robbie Lawler by Technical Submission (Bulldog Choke) at 3:20 of the very 1st round.

Controversy! Things started off fire as Lawler lifted Askren into the air in a sort of fireman's carry/Angle slam scenario and smashed him into the canvas! The "Ruthless" one then poured on the punishment drawing blood with the referee closely looking to halt the action. Ben then collected himself and got to his feet only to eat a big knee to the gut. Askren the tied Lawler up against the cage before taking him down and maneuvering for a rear naked choke. Robbie turned away from the hold but Ben held on in what we lovingly refer to as the "Big Brother headlock." At 3:18, Lawler's left arm seemingly goes limp and referee Herb Dean stopped the fight. Robbie immediately stood up saying he was fine but the fight cannot be restarted.
"Submission of the Night"

* MMAFO still believes Herb Dean to be one of the more overrated referees ever in the game, but this wasn't really his fault. It really did look like Lawler was unconscious and that is just an untenable spot for any official.

A controversial win is still a win and Ben Askren has arrived to ruin your day and run game in the UFC! We love it!

Zhang Weili Upset Tecia Torres by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 30-27 2x).

Alright, alright there "Magnum," we see you now. MMAFO's eyes were opened this night as the Chinese fighter had zero problems with ultra-skilled Torres. We'll be paying attention now ma'am.

Pedro Munhoz KO’d Cody Garbrandt with Punches at 4:52 of the initial offering.

Cody is so dumb. He’s so goddamn dumb it's hilarious! You could tell Garbrandt knew he shouldn't stand there and trade punches with Munhoz but he just couldn't help himself. The result, he awoke staring at the lights on a now 3-fight losing streak having been (T)KO'd in all 3 bouts! Whew, that is not good.

ATT's "Punisher" will be in the Top 10 Monday!

ESPN Prelims Results:

Zabit Magomedsharipov defeated Jeremy Stephens by Unanimous Decision (29-28 3x).

Not a bad fight. Zabit is just a very multi-skilled fighter while Jeremy is just a big puncher. Magomadomenofpenopoginov was just sparring out there and he's still entertaining.
"Fight of the Night"

Johnny Walker TKO’d Misha Cirkunov via Flying Knee only 0:36 into the fight!

Johnny Walker "Red" launched a knee from Brazil that nearly decapitated Cirkunov. Fucking unbelievable! This young guy continued to entertain by celebrating by doing the worm and dislocating his shoulder, only to laugh about it on the mic. John's star is soaring.
"KO of the Night"

Whelp, Misha may be about done folks. The Latvian has now lost 3 of his last 4 and by (T)KO. Not good and being robotic and slow with a bad chin is a terrible combination.

Cody Stamann defeated Alejandro Perez by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28 2x).

Diego Sanchez humiliated Mickey Gall via Ground & Pound at 4:13 of the 2nd round.

Called it. This twat Gall was strutting to the cage like he was the greatest fighter in the world, and then winged hooks over and over again for a minute at which time he was completely gassed! It was damn funny and then the "Nightmare" really began as Sanchez just pummeled the cocky kid until the referee mercifully ended the big brother beating.

This was one of those rare occasions that MMAFO was actually rooting for the crazy old man. Good work Diego.

As for Mickey, he is overrated and a dirty cheater. Gall has grabbed shorts, gloves, and the fence in every single Octagon appearance. This night was special because the little bitch actually bit Diego! Mickey should be fined, suspended, and sent to the minor leagues where he belongs.

Fight Pass Prelims Results:

Edmen Shahbazyan TKO’d Charles Byrd with Elbows & Punches 0:38 into the opening round.

Macy Chiasson TKO’d Gina Mazany at 1:49 of the very 1st round.

Hannah Cifers defeated Polyana Viana by Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28).
