UFC Fight Night 150 "Jacare" vs. Hermansson: Fight Card, Musings, + Odds

April 27, 2019
BB&T Center
Sunrise, Florida
Main Card on ESPN+ (8pm/CT):
#6 Ronaldo Souza (26-6) -210 vs. #10 Jack Hermansson (19-4) +175
"Jacare finds himself on the doorstep of title contention yet again at age 39. This is his final push and it must happen now. Since joining the UFC in 2013, Souza has garnered a 9-3 record (*we're counting the Ed Herman/Strikeforce bout) but has faltered against the very elite.

Jack "The Joker" is not the elite. Hermansson is a very good Middleweight on the up with a 6-2 UFC record. The Swede is a kill or be killed fighter who generally uses his strikes to set up the sub finish. Hermansson is on a hot streak coming off a quick sub of David Branch not even a month ago.

The Swede is having a nice run and all, but he's testing the waters with the gator. Hermansson is reckless and his game begs to be exploited by a Jiu-Jitsu expert like Souza. Ronaldo brings Jack back to Earth.

WINNER-Ronaldo Souza by Rd.3 TKO

Greg Hardy vs. Dmitirii Smoliakov

There is no justifying UFC President Dana White's decision to allow this piece of human shit to fight. Hardy was arrested for assault, communicating threats, when he threw her into furniture, strangled, and threatened to kill her! Greg did the "pay to go away" and charges were dropped. The truth of what happened is not in question. The former Carolina Panther is an unrepentant, entitled rich kid being enabled by Dana White and the UFC for money.

In only his 4th professional MMA appearance, Hardy was disqualified for an illegal knee against opponent Allen Crowder. Greg is a strong big man with a hard punch but he's not skilled in MMA and has no business being on a UFC card let alone in the Co-Main Event. It disrespects the sport which seems to not interest the UFC in the least. Hardy could not bully Crowder who was openly laughing and mocking the former NFLer in the 2nd round. As Allen had two knees on the ground, Greg unloaded an obvious illegal knee with a complete disregard for the rules. Hardy was exhausted and found a way out of the fight.

It's infuriating to see the UFC continually turn a blind eye to garbage humans who have no business being in MMA.

What's up Jon Jones, BJ Penn, Conor McGregor, Quinton Jackson, Anthony Johnson, Chael Sonnen, Chris Leben, Reza Madadi, Abel Trujillo, etc (*all of whom are employed currently, or were employed by the UFC at the time of their crimes).

Alex Oliveira (19-6-1) -175 vs. Mike Perry (12-4) +155

"Platinum" Perry has captured the hearts of MMA fans by being an absolute moron, but a genuine "this is who I am" moron. He's not a pretender like Jon Jones but "Dumb As Paint" can throw with some real power, has no fear, and makes things exciting from his interviews to weigh-ins. He's a wild animal.

The "Brazilian Cowboy" has proven to be a cheater in multiple bouts and is coming off a knockout loss. Alex is a twat but a good grappler who strikes with long limbs. Fuck this guy too.

Neither man here is a good person but there will be chaos. Perry is pretending to be a real fighter moving to Jackson-Wink but who knows what difference that will make. Still, we like the guy with the face tattoo to land a bomb that rocks Oliveria before G&Ping him out.

Upset Pick WINNER-Mike Perry by Rd.1 TKO

Glover Teixeira (28-7) -115 vs. Ion Cutelaba (14-3) -105

"Gl-Old-ver" is a glacially moving fighter but he's smart and if he gets top position, you're fucked.

The "Ion Cannon" is a ferocious attacker bringing the confidence of youth and it's crazy power.

Look, Tex is a better technical fighter, but he's going to get blitzed by "The Hulk of Moldova" who will not stop coming his way.

Upset Pick WINNER-Ion Cutelaba by Rd.1 KO

#6 John Lineker (31-8) -140 vs. Cory Sandhagen (10-1) +120

When you remove the loss to now suspended for two years and completely disgraced TJ Dillashaw, Lineker has won his last 8 bouts and seems to have bested his past weight issues. The Brazilian really has great knockout striking but he just enjoys the brawl so much he can't help himself. Cody Garbrant might offer him some advice there.

And well, well, well, we happen to have a training partner of completely disgraced TJ Dillashaw. Enjoy all the questions about your legality in the sport Sandy.

"Johnny Hands" shouldn't have much trouble roughing up the kid who may be getting media attention he doesn't want this week.

WINNER-John Lineker by Rd.2 TKO

Roosevelt Roberts (7-0) -380 vs. Thomas Gifford (14-7) +315

Both of these dudes are touted as "prospects" but c'mon, prove something 1st. We'll wait.

WINNER-Roosevelt Roberts by Rd.1 Submission

Prelims on ESPN (6pm/CT):
Ben Saunders (22-11-2) +165 vs. Takashi Sato (14-2) -190

"Killa-B's" in da house to get ready! MMAFO loves us some Benny but we'll be honest in that it's obvious his career is winding down. Ben isn't so durable anymore but he still has his 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu skills and the hometown hero crowd on his side.

Sato is getting his UFC debut coming over from Pancrase and is a nightmare match for Saunders standing.

"Killa-B" does have a shot here if he can get Sato to the ground to work his grappling. Ben's just been stopped too many times of late and we're rooting for him, but likely, he gets knocked out. Sad Panda.

WINNER-Takashi Sato by Rd.1 KO

Andrei Arlovski (27-17) +130 vs. Augusto Sakai (12-1-1) -150

"The Belarus Vampire" never die! Arlovski has lost 7 of his last 9 (*the loss to Walt Harris is overturned to cheating) and Andrei, you're 40, a former UFC Heavyweight Champion, what the fuck are you doing? Just retire homie, you've done enough.

"Fatty McBig Tits" is big boy in the biggest division and he can bang. Sakai can put his hands together and should be able to out-box Arlovski for 2 rounds at the least.

WINNER-Augusto Sakai by Decision

Carla Esparza (13-6) +100 vs. Virna Jandiroba (14-0) -120

The "Cookie Monster" is damned former champ for christ's sake but people seem to forget that. Esparza has really improved her boxing, and though she doesn't have any power, the striking is accurate and the volume allows her to get in and secure a takedown to her OG skills.

"Carcara" is getting her shot in the big time and immediately diving deep. The Brazilian is a submission machine having tapped 11 of her victims.

For the continually undersized Carla, this is ideal. Jandiroba doesn't have any power either and if their ground skills stall each other out, Esparza can box her way to a win.

Upset Pick WINNER-Carla Esparza by Decision

Gilbert Burns (14-3) -255bvs. Mike Davis (6-1) +215

"Durinho" versus "Beast Boy."

WINNER-Gilbert Burns by Decision

Prelims on ESPN+ (4:30pm/CT):
Jim Miller (29-13) -140 vs. Jason Gonzalez (11-4) +120

The grizzled veteran has lost 5 of his last 6 and we're watching the end of his career. "A10" Jim is still a tough motherfucker and MMAFO wishes him well.

"J-Gonz" is the opposite side of his opponent, having a paltry 1-2 record in the UFC and far less experience. "Nicoyas" is entering his prime and is decently well rounded.

Always hard to find a way Jim wins at this point in his career. Miller will always be game but the cruel sport of MMA doesn't let anyone go out on top.

Upset Pick WINNER-Jason Gonzalez by Decision

Jodie Esquibel (6-4) +440 vs. Angela Hill (8-6) -580

Alliance MMA has ruined Angela Hill. 2-4 on her 2nd run in the UFC and now not confident in her power striking, and relegated to dancing around landing nothing of value and losing decision after decision.

The Jackson-Wink fighter has also struggled as of late with the upper echelon of fighters. When Jodie moved up from Invicta FC, she was thrown in the deep end and suffered accordingly. Esquibel is tough and all but not special anywhere.

Angela is coming in on short notice and MMAFO is giving her one last chance to uncork the combinations and take at least 2 rounds.

WINNER-Angela Hill by Decision

Court McGee (19-7) -165 vs. Dhiego Lima (13-7) +145

Court McGee is like the "Great Pumpkin." He shows up every once in a while before quietly disappearing back into the fields.

Lima got a shocking Upset over Chad Laprise last December but you can pretty much call that a lucky shot.

McGee plods along out-pacing Lima for the standard judges nod.

WINNER-Court McGee by Decision
