Roy Jones Jr.

Congratulations to Roy Jones Jr. You may be wondering why I would congratulate the man after his third loss in a row. I know that Roy is the best boxer of my lifetime, and there may never be another like him. Furthermore, with Roy retiring (which he most likely will do) it is the end of boxing as a legitimate fighting force.

MMA or Ultimate Fighting, has taken the world by storm and in my opinion, will soon surpass boxing in popularity. All of the big names in boxing (Roy, Oscar De La Hoya, Bernard Hopkins, Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, ect.) have or will soon retire. And who is going to step up and captivate the masses? Chris Byrd (current heavyweight champ), Antonio Tarver (current light heavyweight champ, either of the Klitscko brothers, or James Toney!?! Seriously, boxing is in a horrible state now. Corruption and domination by Don King and others has ruined a once great sport. There is a lot of talent at the lighter weights but that has never draw large numbers.

With Roy Jones Jr. leaving the scene, boxing will begin a slow death. Still, congratulations to Roy Jones Jr. for being the last GREAT legend in boxing. He truly did it all had no equals (until he got old). No one has his charisma, speed, or power. 49 wins with 4 losses and an amazing 38 KO's. Roy was one of a kind and will be missed!
