MMA Melee: The Old Timer's League, A Steroid Filled PPV, & Oh So Much More!

The saga that is Tito Ortiz and Jenna Jameson vying for attention like the media whores (she is a legitimate whore) they are, continues. The 2 morons got into a fight, cum dumpster was pushed to the ground (leading to her bogus elbow injury) and the "Bad Boy" went to jail. Then Frito claimed the anal aviator was abusing Oxycontin again in a press conference that nobody gave a shit about. Now they are back together. OK, now that is all done and we can focus on the real Tito news. He is a coward and is still ducking Chuck Liddell while tarnishing his already meager reputation by over training his fighters on TUF 11 causing them to gas out, which has led to losing more fights (Team Liddell is up 3-1), and he mocked a kids injury calling him a pussy only to discover the guy had to have surgery. Tito is really bringing in the good press these days and has anyone noticed the guy has lost 3 of his last 4 fights, 1 of which was a Draw, and has not looked decent in a fight since he defeated Vitor Belfort in 2005. 2005!?! Why are we still talking about this has-been?

Dan Henderson is thanking everyone who participated in the Strikeforce post fight brawl because it has completely taken people away from the fact "Hendo" looked awful and just got owned by Jake Shields. To his credit, Dan made no excuses on the loss though he did come in heavier than normal and had to cut more weight than usual. Next for Henderson may be a fight with Gegard Mousasi who embarrassed himself with his lack of training which showed in spades against Mo Lawal. "Hendo" may also fight for DREAM in the future who is partnered up with Strikeforce.

Josh Barnett announced this week that he would be fighting on the Impact Fighting Championships card in Brisbane, Australia on July 10th, against Brazilian Geronimo dos Santos. Now, sources close to the Mark Coleman camp and they have stated that Coleman was offered, and has accepted a match against Ken Shamrock. And the "Old Timer's" League was born. Shammy and Barnett can continue using steroids and the "OG Hammer" should get back on them so he doesn't look like an AIDS victim as he did against Randy Couture.

The Moosin MMA show scheduled to feature Tim Sylvia vs. Mariusz Pudzianowski is almost officially sanctioned for the May 21st show. Mariusz, a 5-time "World's Strongest Man" has talked up a big game and the "Maine-iac" has been visibly angry at their promotional events. This may be what Tim needed to get back his true game instead of showing up fat and getting KO'd by a 100 year old boxer.

Forrest Griffin is injured and has pulled out of his UFC 114 bout with Antonio Rogerio Nogueira with a shoulder problem. Not replacement has been named but this could be a big opportunity for someone like Brandon Vera or Brian Stann. Rumors have circled around Thiago Silva but he recently signed to fight Tim Boetsch at UFC 117 in August. Tim was cut from the UFC after his loss at UFC 106 against Jason Brilz, but the "Barbarian" has won 3 in a row since and is looking forward to a Zuffa return.

Vladimir Matyushenko (24-4) is set to fight Jon "Bones" Jones (10-1), for August's UFC on Versus 2 event. The "Janitor" is known as 1 of the most boring fighters ever but UFC matchmaker Joe Silva has solved that problem by placing him against 1 of the most exciting fighters on the Zuffa roster.

UFC Veteran Din "Dinyero" Thomas will fight former WBC Welterweight Champion Ricardo "El Matador" Mayorga on May 15th. Thomas stated that he will send Mayorga back to Boxing, admitting that the loudmouth Nicaraguan was successful in his mission to go under his skin at the recent press conference. The bout will take place at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, North Carolina, live on PPV garnering around 14 buys. Give Din credit, he will be the 1st MMA fighter to take on a (kinda) legit pro boxer in a clash of sports.

Finally, Ricco Rodriguez is trying to return to MMA relevance as the former UFC Heavyweight Champion (who defeated Randy Couture) has won 6 fights in a row. What is really shocking is that "Suave" at 1 time ballooned up to 300 lbs. looking like a Hispanic Butterbean but came into his most recent fight at a svelte 218 lbs. Ricco had some even more surprising words after the bout. "This will shock a lot of people, but I'm really looking forward to dropping down to 205 and the light-heavyweight division." Rodriguez still has a ways to go if he wants to compete with fellow former 3oo pounder Joe Riggs, who has shrunk all the way down to 170 lbs., in the incredible shrinking man contest. Ricco was also recently featured on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew which gained him exposure and explored the irony of the show's title.
