Gerald Harris CUT By The UFC!?!

Gerald "Hurricane" Harris 17-3 has been cut from the UFC following a Unanimous Decision loss to Maiquel Jose Falcao Goncalves. Gerald was a fighter in the TUF 7 house and went 3-1 in the UFC and won 2 "Knockout of the Night" bonuses in this go-around with Zuffa.

This is shocking to me because Harris was on a 10 fight win streak going back to 2007. "Hurricane" only had 1 of those wins on the streak reach a decision.

Gerald has refused to give comment as of yet but my guess is that the UFC is sending a message because Harris was so inactive in the fight and round 3 was one of the worst rounds in history. Still seems quite excessive for such a promising prospect but the Welterweight division is deep. Though it just got a bit shallower.

A rare miss-step for Zuffa who usually needs to cut more fighters but this time they dropped a talent far too early to press their issue of "activity" during bouts. Remember short memory fans, Harris was the 1st UFC fighter to be featured on ESPN Sportscenter's Top Plays.

UFC 123 Results: Rampage Wins & BJ Dominates

Nik Lentz defeats Tyson Griffin via blind and controversial Split Decision. Tyson owned this fight and I have yet to find a MMA website that did not score the fight in his favor. This is yet another egregious judging error that continues to haunt the sport.
* Despite a 3rd loss in a row, Dana White said Tyson Griffin will NOT be cut from the UFC. The UFC President said, "Tyson Griffin got fucked big time tonight." I never thought for a moment he would be cut and especially after this debacle.

Paul Kelly stops T.J. O'Brien by elbow TKO. "Tellys" dropped O'Brien in the 2nd with a left and swarmed with punches though the tough TJ survived. Kelly moved his opponent into a crucifix and reigned down elbows until the referee had to step in and save the defenseless fighter.
* Great impressive win for the Brit who gets back in the win column in a big way.

Edson Mendes Barboza Jr. leg kicked the hell out of a very game last minute replacement fighter Mike Lullo. Lullo needed this fight on the floor but found himself receiving an onslaught of brutal leg kicks. Edson never let up on the barrage and by the 3rd, each leg kick landed spun Mike to the floor. The referee steps in again to save a badly hurt opponent.

Dennis Hallman put Karo Parisyan down quick for a rare TKO win. The "Warmth" looked just dreadful. His arms crackhead skinny and his mid-section floppy, Karo came out and got rocked by a 1-2 and Hallman seals the deal with the follow up. Its the 1st TKO stoppage for Dennis since 2003.
* We all figured Karo would be cut again and Dana White confirmed it saying, "This kid went though some hard times. I helped him out and I helped him out and I helped him out. I said Karo this is it, I am going to give you one more shot. I let him in, and I think tonight he showed he can't perform here any more."

Mark Munoz defeated Aaron Simpson by Decision. This was as sloppy and terrible as I expected. I scored the bout for "A-Train" but I was also laughing at all the errant strikes and awful takedown attempts. Neither of these guys are that good and Simpson will probably find himself on the chopping block after losing 2 fights in a row the exact same way. Might want to take care of that whole endurance thing.

Brian Foster survived groin shots to submit Matt Brown with a Guillotine Choke. Both men came out angry and it was a back and forth affair with Foster gaining the upper hand in the 1st. After the round ended the 2 men stood and exchanged pleasantries before the corners separated the men. Matt hits Brian with a crotch shot and after he recovers he is hit again in the pills. Foster doesn't want the recovery time and is pissed! Brian catches a leg kick and dumps Brown with prejudice as he begins to bring heavy blows. Matt tries to posture out and is caught in a naughty tight guillotine to which he taps. The HIT Squad member looked impressive tonight and was definitely jacked up. That's 3 losses in a row for the "Immortal" so hit the bricks dick.

George Sotiropoulos slaps a Kimura on Joe Lauzon for the tapout win. "J-Lau" came out very strong gaining the upper hand with stand up and then controlling the ground game. Joe is cutting a deadly fast pace and you have to wonder if he can keep this up. George comes out for the 2nd firing and executes a great takedown. He's quickly into full mount and looking for the armbar his missed in the 1st round. Joe looks gassed and Sotir switches to the Kimura (the move of the night = 3 total) where he gets the tapout. Too much too fast for "J-Lau" while the smarter and more conservative George wins the race. "Fight Of The Night"
* Next up, George goes home to Australia for UFC 127 versus Germany's Dennis Siver.

Phil Davis defeats Tim Boetsch with the "Mr. Wonderful Kimura." The bout started slow and the fans did not appreciate the "feeling out process" but Davis easily took the 1st round. In the 2nd frame, Phil takes Tim down while working for a far-side kimura on the left arm of Boetsch. The "Barbarian" won't tap so he drags the arm behind Boetsch’s back using Tim's own weight on his arm. Phil sneaks his other arm around and locks up his hands for the impressive win. "Submission Of The Night"
* "Mr. Wonderful" looked good improving a submission on the fly but I'm not so sure Boetsch belongs in the UFC. Matt Hamill might be a good test for Davis in his next outing.

Maiquel Jose Falcao Goncalves (whew, long name) defeats Gerald Harris by Decision in a very odd bout. Harris looked powerful and fluid early though the bout becomes very inactive and the boo's come down. Then Falcao explodes with rabid punches and Gerald goes down. Goncalves looks for the RNC and sinks it in deep as the round expires. Maiquel doesn't relinquish the hold and the referee has to pull him off Harris. Gerald rightly complains to the official but only a warning is rendered. Jose attacks with abandon and Gerald cannot handle the speed or power plus his seems to still be recovering for the extra long RNC. In the 3rd, obviously down 2 rounds, Harris does nothing to try and win the fight and Maiquel seems gassed and disappears as there is zero action here in the Ultimate Staring Contest as the crowd boo's louder than I have heard in a long time.
* Maiquel Goncalves said he did not hear the buzzer at the end of the round and went up to Dana White and apologized after the press conference. The "Big Rig" brings it home for Chute Boxe. Still no word as to why Gerald Harris did not show up for the event.

B.J. Penn KO's Matt Hughes a mere 0:21 seconds into their rubber match. 2 right hands drop Hughes immediately and the "Prodigy" pounces with punches that render Matt unconscious. Wow, that was an emphatic end to that saga as Penn is more jacked up than I have seen in a while. I love to say I told you so, so I told you so. Penn is still in his prime and was simply unable to catch his prey in the last 2 bouts. Hughes is slow and old now and only beat 1 decent fighter in his previous 3 wins. People just do not take into account common sense and instead decide a figher is "done" or "unbeatable" after 1 fight. "KO Of The Night"
* BJ Penn is staying at Welterweight for the time being as he will now fight Jon Fitch in a bout with huge ramifications for the title picture at UFC 127. Matt Hughes wants rematch that will not happen and he'll take some time off before an interesting fight comes along to wet his appetite.

Quinton Jackson defeats Lyoto Machida by Split Decision in a bout he easily won 29-28. "Rampage" looked good cutting off the ring and forcing the "Dragon" into a clinch game early. In the 2nd "Rampage" is landing more and Lyoto is retreating as he catches a big uppercut. For the final round Jackson looks firmly in control when Machida trips him to the floor where he is gaining the advantage. Lyoto puts on an armbar and Jackson begins to raise up for his patented super-slam (a la vs. Ricardo Arona) but the "Dragon" sees it coming and releases the hold landing on his feet. Time runs out for Machida as he cannot end the fight for the win.
* "Rampage" was humble in defeat raising Machida's hand and saying he owes him an immediate rematch. He went on to say, "My trainers are in there and told me I won the fight. But when I was in the fight, I just had a one-track mind to knock him out. In the third round, he came at me so much, I forget what happened in the first two rounds. ... It's one of those things where at the time I thought I was getting my ass whooped because I was just on the ground taking a flurry to my face. It's different fighting than Machida than watching Machida," he said. "I have more respect for his style. I wish I could move like that. I have more respect for his style. But I still don't want to watch it."
Dana White said he doesn't want a rematch since Jackson clearly won the fight. Most of the Light Heavyweight division is already signed up so a possible fight with the returning Thiago Silva would make sense for "Rampage" while the "Dragon" could look to rebound against Vladimir Matyushenko or Krzysztof Soszynski.

8-2-1 on the picks. We cannot honor the judges decision on the Lentz/Griffin bout.

UFC 123:Rampage vs Machida

UFC 123: Rampage vs. Machida
November 20, 2010
The Palace of Auburn Hills
Detroit, Michigan

Main Bouts (PPV):
Lyoto Machida (16-1) vs. Quinton Jackson (30-8) "Rampage" is in a tough spot as he faces another guy who is going to stay away at all costs and looks to poke the bear just enough times at distance to win the points race. The "Dragon" isn't going to stop Jackson and Quinton is going to be chasing all night long just like last time out against Rashad Evans and leading to the same lackluster and uninspiring end.
WINNER-Lyoto Machida by Decision

B.J. Penn (15-7-1) vs. Matt Hughes (45-7) [Rubber Match] The 3rd times the harm as these 2 legends meet for the last time. Hughes cancelled all his plans to take this fight citing his desire to settle things with Penn. BJ had a similar response and is coming in light though that is probably a good thing indicating a properly trained Penn. I like the "Prodigy" on the feet all day long and I highly doubt Hughes ground work can still hang with BJ's other worldly Jiu-Jitsu. The previous 2 fights didn't make the score cards and neither does this 1. Penn takes his time but looks to inflict more damage and be busier before wearing Matt down and catching him again for a tapout.
WINNER-BJ Penn by Rd.3 Submission

Gerald Harris (17-2) vs. Maiquel Falcao (25-3) 10 wins in a row and coming off a highlight slam KO, Harris has all the momentum at Welterweight coming into this fight. Its a mere 7 in a row for the "Big Rig" out of Chute Boxe. Avoiding the "gong & dash" will be essential for Harris who puts Maiquel on his back over and over again en route to gassing out and finding his UFC debut a disappointment.
WINNER-"Hurricane" Harris by Rd.3 TKO

Phil Davis (7-0); vs. Tim Boetsch (12-3) "Mr. Wonderful" needs to avoid the "Barbarian's" punches with his trademark speed, but other than that, he's got this thing wrapped up. Way to much skill and quickness for the slow prodding Tim who just won't catch his prey much like the "Main Event."
WINNER-"Mr. Wonderful" by Decision

George Sotiropoulos (13-2) vs. Joe Lauzon (19-5) The controversy of the Aussie's under garb aside, we have two very impressive and talented young fighters looking to ascend into title contention. "J-Lau" just destroyed Gabe Rudiger but who wouldn't? Sotir has won 7 in a row and at a high level of competition. I'm not sure Lauzon has the entire game to hang with George who needs to keep this fight standing. This should be a close and possible "Fight Of The Night" candidate but I'll give to Sotir and his better work ethic.
WINNER-George Sotiropoulos by Decision

Prelims (On Spike TV):
Brian Foster (14-5) vs. Matt Brown (11-9) I'll take the HIT Squad member to be sturdy and smart against the wild swinging "Immortal" who has never impressed. Brown walks from the organization after this bout.
WINNER-Brian Foster by Decision

Mark Munoz (8-2) vs. Aaron Simpson (7-1) The "A-Train" had the fight in hand against Chris Leben before getting hurt which sapped all his energy and led to his demise. Munoz got slapped around by Yushin Okami and both are looking for relevance in the division. Munoz is known to get hurt in fights and as sloppy as he is, Aaron should find the way to put him down or at least win the points competition.
WINNER-Aaron Simpson by Decision

Prelims (Non-Televised):
Karo Parisyan (19-5) vs. Dennis Hallman (45-13-2) How the "Heat" talked himself back into the UFC I will never know. He is coming off a "gimme" win at Impact FC where he looked horrible and still has the jitters and shakes. "Superman" doesn't embody his nickname but he's always solid and can frustrate Karo into a boring loss.
UPSET WINNER-Dennis Hallman by Decision

Mike Lullo (8-2) vs. Edson Barboza (6-0) "The Nova Friburgo Phenomenon" is here and the late replacement Lullo is going to be annihilated. Expect a quick exciting one.
WINNER-Edson Barboza by Rd.1 TKO

Paul Kelly (10-3) vs. T.J. O’Brien (16-3) Everyone say "hullo" to TJ because he won't be here long. "Tellys" is always angry and coming off a loss where he was held down and molested, its gonna get ugly. Team Kaobon has Kelly looking good and he will continue to improve here.
WINNER-"Tellys" by Rd.2 TKO

Nik Lentz (19-3-2) vs. Tyson Griffin (14-4) Tyson got shocked and dropped by Takanori Gomi in his last outing and is going to destroy Nik. The "Carnie" doesn't have anything for a cat at Tyson's level and you can expect a rare Griffin stoppage.
WINNER-Tyson Griffin by Rd.3 TKO

UFC 122 Results: Okami Earns Title Shot

Carlos Eduardo Rocha defeats Kris McCray with a submission via Kneebar. I find the leg game to be 1 of the most underutilized skills in MMA and love to see a submission with the increasingly rare kneebar. "Submission Of The Night"

Karlos Vemola swarmed Seth Petruzelli until he gained the brutal TKO stoppage. It could have been "Submission Of The Night" since once the "Silverback" was slammed twice and hit by Vemola, he quit. I love to see the lack of heart come out from Seth time and time again. Hopefully he will be cut, again, and Karlos has a chance at Light Heavyweight, but he is awfully short. The crazy style still needs to learn some calm and more cardio, cardio, cardio. "(T)KO Of The Night"

Kyle Noke out grapples Rob Kimmons to earn an impressive RNC submission win. I did not see that coming. I actually saw the opposite in my crystal ball but give the tough Aussie credit. He said he knew his job was on the line and responded by tapping a grappling ace. Well earned mate.

Pascal Krauss defeats Mark Scanlon by Decision. Yup. Apparently, "Fight Of The Night" though I haven't got to see it.

Vladimir Matyushenko stands firm in front of father time as he gets a TKO victory over Alexandre Ferreira. The old man of the Light Heavyweight division will not go quietly into that good night getting his 1st stoppage in the UFC and taking said record to 3-1. The "Janitor" is not done yet people!

Duane Ludwig defeats Nick Osipczak by an ultra-close and controversial Split-Decision. Shipshack took the 1st 2 rounds pretty obviously but the genius judges saw things differently. It was embarrassing to watch Nick fall apart completely gassed out in the 3rd but that should not offset the work he did in the 1st 10 minutes. Nick can ask Genki Suda about getting robbed this very same way.

Krzysztof Soszynski handled a tough but fading Goran Reljic to earn the Decision. Goran tried his damnedest to make it a boring fight but Krzysztof kept busy working for submissions and striking with some good G&P. I just don't see the necessary will power in Reljic but Soszynski is coming along nicely.
* Krzysztof broke his right hand in the 2nd round of the fight but punched through it though he could not "feel his hands."

Amir Sadollah outstruck Peter Sobotta for the full 15 to win by Decision. Peter is a tough guy but he got his left leg shattered by Amir who just punished the leg for the entire fight. Sobotta never said die but looked very small at Welterweight and could not keep up with the bigger, more active, and more accurate Sadollah. I'm interested to see how far the fan favorite can go because I like the kid, but the odds are against him.

Dennis Siver represents Germany by subbing Andre Winner with the RNC after a dropping the Brit with a left hand that had him reeling. Andre gets cocky and Siver trained the perfect counter left to the England natives attack. It connects and Winner is barely with us as Dennis swarmed all over him before sinking in a kinda headlock with the left arm trapped of Andre who was defenseless. Impressive finish and Germany cheers the countries hero!

Yushin Okami pushes past Nate Marquardt by gritty Decision. "Thunder," the last man to defeat Anderson Silva (by DQ ROTR 8 2006) will finally earn his coveted title shot against the "Spider" if he survives Vitor Belfort. It was a close fight but Okami worked a bit more and controlled the daunting pace of the fight. You just kind of see this coming with Nate these days. The brass ring is there again and again he is taken out by Chael Sonnen via training Okami for this fight. Ouch. I have no idea where Nate goes from here but I see "Thunder" meeting the "Spider" in a title rematch in 2011.
* Dana White was not happy with the "main event" and specifically the increasingly notorious Arizona camp. White said, "I got to be honest; you see this happen now consistently with the Greg Jackson camp. I don't know if they are told or what their deal is, in their minds they are winning the fight going into the last round and it's not true. There's like this avoid the fight because we think we're winning thing. I look at fights the way that I see them... and there is absolutely, one hundred percent, consistency with that in the Greg Jackson camp."

Dana then pulled no punches about Marquardt saying, “He is a choker, he choked tonight. Marquardt is such a talented guy, and what I’m seeing is stuff from the Greg Jackson camp. This camp continuously – when these guys fight, their corner is either telling them they’re ahead or they’re winning. I mean, Nate Marquardt sat here tonight and said that he thought he won the fight. Where the fuck is his corner? You go into the last round and you’re getting out struck by a wrestler, and you think you won the fight? And this is consistent with the Greg Jackson camp…You already blew a title shot once; you’re in a fight for the title shot again in the third round, and you’re not throwing any punches or kicks? It has nothing to do with pressure. You’re … professional, and you’re going to go after it in the last round to get your title shot.”

Wow, that is not a ringing endorsement for the Greg Jackson camp or Nate Marquardt. This is exactly what I saw coming for the "main event" and Nate. I hate to say it because I like the guy but he does lose all aggression for the big bouts and ends up getting out pointed when he retreats to a cautious style.

* The bout between Jorge Rivera and Alessio Sakara for the co-main event of UFC 122 was cancelled due to "Legionarius" having "flu like symptoms." Both men were generously paid even though they did not fight and the "Conquistador" revealed he already has his next opponent in Michael Bisping, and that both will square off in Australia. That event should be UFC 127 and tentatively scheduled for Feb. 27th at the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia.

8-2 on the picks.

WEC 52 Results: California Love

Yves Jabouin bested Brandon Visher by Decision.

Cub Swanson defeats Mackens Semerzier by Split Decision in a very entertaining bout. Both men came out in a rampage throwing a bevy of offensive attacks. There were spinning back fists, slams, big punches, takedowns with great scrambles, flying knees, arm triangle attempts, and even the kitchen sink. It was a great war with Mackens coming on very strong in the final round, but in my most humble and correct opinion, Cub had already won the fight in the 1st 2 rounds. Everyone should enjoy watching this war. [MMAFO 29-28 Swanson] "Fight Of The Night"

Michael McDonald slapped an Armbar on Clint Godfrey for the submission win.

Dustin Poirier TKO'd Zachary Micklewright only 0:53 into round 1.

Anthony Njokuani gets back to form with the rare elbow TKO on Edward Faaloloto in the 2nd round.

Raphael Assuncao defeated L.C. Davis by Decision.

Demetrious Johnson beats Damacio Page via Guillotine Choke. Page started strong nailing 2 throws and a big slam in the 1st. In the 2nd, Johnson landed a big chin infused kick to the pills dropping Damacio who would need the full 5 minutes to recover. Johnson got the takedown and began really bothering the "Angel Of Death." For the final round, Demetrious landed a hard kick and followed it up with elbows from side guard. Johnson then snuck up and secured the ultra tight choke forcing the tap. Johnson is actually a 125 lb. fighter, but with no division in the WEC (or UFC) he fights here and gains the big upset win. "Upset Of The Night"

Joseph Benavidez taps Jiu-Jitsu ace Wagnney Fabiano with Guillotine Choke. Joey is so small its adorable to watch this little wolverine. Granted, he needs a step stool to reach you on the feet, but if he takes you down, his core strength comes into play and he manhandles people as Wagnney found out.

Erik Koch landed a big head kick on Francisco Rivera which dropped him to the mat for a couple of exclamation point strikes. The TKO win was big for mean faced Koch who is most likely nearing that inevitable title shot. "(T)KO Of The Night"

Chad Mendes defeats a valiant Javier Vazquez by Decision. Everyone is talking about how 1 dimensional Mendes is, but the wrestling is ingrained in his head and he just can't help himself. Sherdog's favorite fighter fought most of the initial round off his back working rubber guard and short hard strikes while Chad looked for positions and little else. Mendes came out with a flying knee for the 2nd and then we went back to the floor as always. Then, inexplicably, Chad front flipped and landed on Javier though the ensuing scramble saw things end up the same. Then more wrestling and the crowd begins the "boring, boring" chants in the background. Mendes wins the bout on the cards and doesn't get an interview after because nobody cares. [MMAFO 29-28 Mendes]

Urijah Faber makes a successful Bantamweight debut by putting Takeya Mizugaki to sleep with the RNC in round 1. The "California Kid" looked very confident coming in but the "Miz" was ready going punch for punch with the former Featherweight champion. The always speedy and creative Faber jumped on Mizugaki's back and drug him to the floor. Takeya defended well but eventually Urijah found his choke though the brave Japanese fighter did not tap and instead lost consciousness. Faber looks right at home at 135 lbs. He's even faster and now stronger than most opponents. Along with his wicked training partners at Team Alpha Male (who ran the "hat trick" tonight), I see's gold in the future.

8-3 on the picks.

IFC Israel Results

Roy Peretz defeats Fabrice Riconneau by Triangle Choke.
Ido Pariente defeats Joshua Hewlett by Armbar.
Vitali Karberski defeats Serob Minasyan by Decision.
Thiago Meller defeats Ariel Abargel by Armbar.
Alexandre Ceconi defeats Vitalius Shemetov by Triangle Choke.

Jeremy Knafo defeats Shonie Carter by Decision. "Mr. International" then announced that he was retiring from MMA. The crowd gave him the standing ovation he deserves.

Daniel Gracie defeats Martin Wojcik by RNC. Finally, a Gracie gets a win for the family.

Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou defeats Valdas Pocevicius by Decision and still sucks.

Moshe Kaitz upsets Hermes Franca by Decision. Hermes may be thinking about retiring himself.....again.

Frank Trigg defeats Roy Neeman with the only TKO of the evening. Atta boy "Twinkle Toes."

Jeff Monson defeats Sergey Shemetov by Keylock and says he is going down to Light Heavyweight which we already knew.

Ricco Rodriguez defeats Daniel Tabera by Decision and did NOT make weight for the fight. He is also planning a move to Light Heavyweight and called out the "Snowman" for a future fight.

8-1 on the picks but this was an easy one.

WEC 52 Faber vs Mizugaki Picks

WEC 52 Faber vs. Mizugaki
November 11, 2010
The Pearl at The Palms
Las Vegas, Nevada

The "California Kid" debuts at Bantamweight before debuting in the UFC, a heavy dose of Team Alpha Male, and come on Njokuani!

Main Bouts (On Versus):
Urijah Faber (23-4) vs. Takeya Mizugaki (13-4-2) The Miz iz a tough dude. You need only look at his war with then Champion Miguel Torres to see he loves a fight's fight, banging and grinding his opponent down while never saying kamakaze. The "Kid" (now 31) is at a career crossroads. Once the dominant force at Featherweight, Faber found himself out muscled by Mike Thomas Brown and then out gunned by Jose Aldo. Urijah felt as though he needed the standard move of, lose a fight and then going down in weight class to return to greatness, plan. It's rare I actually like this move but this is 1 of those times. Urijah is only 5'6" in shoes and he can carry less muscle on his frame and still be effective. I like Faber's creativity on the feet to force Takeya into a mistake which costs him the battle. My question is not if Faber wins, but how? Can he be that overwhelming force that once went 22-1 to start his career? Or, will Urijah struggle to remain a relevant "name" in the game and only grind out decisions some of the time? I think people have a short memory and the "Kid" is about to rattle that cage.
WINNER-Urijah Faber by Rd.2 Submission

Chad Mendes (8-0) vs. Javier Vazquez (15-4) Team Alpha Male's "Money" fighter takes on the lovable "Showtime" at Featherweight. Javvy has had a resurgence in his career but it ends here. Mendes is a little beast of a wolverine and has yet to taste defeat and has all the tools to be a Champion some day. Javvy is going to try and survive some brutal G&P while searching for a submission that doesn't come.
WINNER-Chad Mendes by Decision

Erik Koch (10-1) vs. Francisco Rivera (5-0) Erik is the "New Breed" and his experience will be the difference in this battle of the prospects.
WINNER-Erik Kock by Decision

Joseph Benavidez (12-2) vs. Wagnney Fabiano (14-2) In the war of American Wrestling versus Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the Yankees have been running the show lately, but Wagnney has got some wicked Jits. That being said, his stand up is atrocious and his cardio and core strength are nil. Joe, Joe is a mean lil' boy. He is coming off a title shot loss. Just run away Fabiano. This won't be good.
WINNER-Joseph Benavidez by Rd.2 TKO

Damacio Page (15-4) vs. Demetrious Johnson (6-1) The "Angel Of Death," who, might I add, has some of the greatest tattoo work seen this side of Aryan brotherhood, is too well rounded and fought a much higher level of competition, to lose this one. Johnson isn't going to get killed, but he is far too green for this match to make sense.
WINNER-Damacio Page by Decision

Prelims (Non-Televised):
Raphael Assuncao (15-3) vs. L.C. Davis (16-3) W-LC Davis
Anthony Njokuani (12-4) vs. Edward Faaloloto (2-0) W-Njokuani
Zack Micklewright (7-1) vs. Dustin Poirier (7-1) W-Poirier
Clint Godfrey (11-2) vs. Michael McDonald (10-1) W-McDonald
Mackens Semerzier (5-2) vs. Cub Swanson (14-4) W-Swanson
Yves Jabouin (14-6) vs. Brandon Visher (13-1) W-Visher

IFC In Israel Picks My Friend

Jeff Monson vs. Sergei Shemetov The "Snowman" has this all day, all year. The "Siberian" brings nothing to the dance but what is more interesting than the bout, is watching Jeff begin his shrink to Light Heavyweight by 2011.
WINNER-Jeff Monson by Submission

Roy Neeman vs. Frank Trigg Zero experience versus being in the sport a tad too long. I'll back "Twinkle Toes" one last time.
WINNER-Frank Trigg by Submission

Daniel Tabera vs. Ricco Rodriguez Despite being gaunt and missing weight by a mere 10 pounds, I'll still take Ricco to continue his "comeback" over the man who is enjoying 20% of Rodriguez' purse.
WINNER-Ricco "Suave" by early Submission or late gasping Decision

Hermes Franca vs. Moshe Kaitz The crazy haired Jiu-Jitsu ace comes in and taps Kaitz with superior fight I.Q.
WINNER-Hermes Franca by Rd.1 Submission

Daniel Gracie vs. Martin Wojcik There is nothing about this "Gracie" that exudes excellence, but he gets his 2nd IFC win.
WINNER-Daniel "Gracie"

Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou vs. Valdas Pocevicius Most people would pick "Sokojoke" here, but I still have zero confidence in the retreating after a minute of fighting Team Quest weak link. Valdas has some skills but will probably be overwhelmed.
WINNER-"Sokojoke" by ?

Thiago Meller vs. Ariel Abergeil W-Meller
Jeremy Knafo vs. Shonie Carter W-Knafo
Joshua Hewlett vs. Ido Pariente W-Ido as well

MMA Melee: The "Ladies Night" Edition

Don't worry Brittany Palmer fans, she will be joining the UFC's ring girl roster full time when WEC and UFC merge along with the fetching Arianny Celeste and that horse looking thing. Though not originally announced, the Internet was a buzz with wonder as to the status of the beloved WEC ring girl. Enough board chatter got a statement from the UFC saying that Ms. Palmer would be a full time UFC ring girl. And the fanboys exhaled.

Jessica Rakoczy (1-3 MMA, 31-3 Boxing) has failed her post fight drug test by the Nevada State Athletic Commission and now faces a potential suspension of her fighting license.
This is the very first positive test for a female mixed martial artist in Nevada.

According to NSAC records, Rakoczy tested positive for the banned painkillers
Oxymorphone and Oxycodone following her Oct. 9 win over Jennifer Scott under the Las Vegas-based MMA Xplosion banner.

The seemingly unstoppable Megumi Fujii, undefeated and riding a 22 fight winning streak, "Mega Megu," went to war with Zoila Frausto for 115 lb. Women's title and which would span the full 5 rounds.

When the scorecards were read, it would be Frausto who got the slight nod and Fujii had her 1st career loss. “Mega Megu” is now 22-1 with 1 TKO to her credit and an amazing 18 submission wins! The "Warrior Princess" is now 10-1 and a champion.

Kim “Sugar Free” (Milkin' It) Couture lost again at ROC 32 to bring her incredible record to 3-4. Kim was bloodied and beaten like she does to her “assistants (/lover, I’m not judging, just saying).” At least she is developing her own name and not living off her ex-husband. Your lesbian tirades that end in hand cuffs are much more entertaining than your attempts to fight. Seriously, she attacked her personal assistant, who really was dating her at the time I am not making this stuff up, and beat her ass until the police drug her away in cuffs. You are a terrible fighter but entertaining crazy person. Bravo.

Speaking of ladies, the UFC Cut List has struck again bouncing long time UFC veterans Gabe Gonzaga, Patrick Cote, & hopefully soon, Tito Ortiz. No word on the head of Ortiz yet but dark clouds are circling. I am loving this. Just watching him slowly fall.

Shane Carwin has pulled out of a bout (AGAIN) with an injury. This time Carwin needs back surgery and has canceled his fight with Roy Nelson. "Big Country" was actually coming back too soon from a knee injury just to do the fight for Dana and now will not get any opponent for the PPV. A pretty blatant dick move from Zuffa again while Shane continues to avoid fighting as much as possible.
