Gerald Harris CUT By The UFC!?!

Gerald "Hurricane" Harris 17-3 has been cut from the UFC following a Unanimous Decision loss to Maiquel Jose Falcao Goncalves. Gerald was a fighter in the TUF 7 house and went 3-1 in the UFC and won 2 "Knockout of the Night" bonuses in this go-around with Zuffa.

This is shocking to me because Harris was on a 10 fight win streak going back to 2007. "Hurricane" only had 1 of those wins on the streak reach a decision.

Gerald has refused to give comment as of yet but my guess is that the UFC is sending a message because Harris was so inactive in the fight and round 3 was one of the worst rounds in history. Still seems quite excessive for such a promising prospect but the Welterweight division is deep. Though it just got a bit shallower.

A rare miss-step for Zuffa who usually needs to cut more fighters but this time they dropped a talent far too early to press their issue of "activity" during bouts. Remember short memory fans, Harris was the 1st UFC fighter to be featured on ESPN Sportscenter's Top Plays.
