The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale Picks

Ultimate Fighter Season 12 Finale
December 4, 2010
The Pearl at The Palms Resort & Casino
Las Vegas, Nevada

Main Bouts (On Spike TV):
Stephan Bonnar (12-7) vs. Igor Pokrajac (22-7) The "American Psycho" seems to be in tip top shape and really focusing on his MMA career after a disastrous 3 fight skid that almost cost him his job. A nice rebound win over Krzysztof Soszynski and he's facing the "Duke" who I gotta say is less than impressive. Igor will be happy to give Bonnar the stand up war he and the fans crave while not having the skills to beat the fan favorite. Expect a good evening for Stephan who slowly pulls away on the feet before displaying the Jiu-Jitsu we haven't seen in years.
UPSET WINNER-The "American Psycho" by Rd.3 Submission

Ultimate Fighter 12 Final: Michael Johnson (8-4) vs. Jonathan Brookins (11-3) The odds are against "Springfield" anywhere you look but I feel his wrestling base and sharpened striking (since the TUF filming) may surprise the favorite Brookins. Neither man displayed good endurance but I fully expect to have been remedied in training camp. Jon doesn't have good stand up by any stretch of the imagination but his chin will keep him in this until the end.
UPSET WINNER-Michael Johnson by Decision

Demian Maia (13-2) vs. Kendall Grove (12-7) Maia looks to bring back his elite Jiu-Jitsu but will find a very long and game floor fighter in Grove. Kendall has zero chin and reach for days but there is just never any consistency with this kid. Demian's Jiu-Jitsu is sick enough to overcome most men's MMA game and most likely that will be the story here.
WINNER-Demian Maia by Rd.3 Submission

Johny Hendricks (9-0) vs. Rick Story (11-3) Two blue chip prospects that could give us the "Fight Of The Weekend." Both of these guys have great wrestling though Hendricks is obviously more heralded but Story has shown the vicious streak. Johny really has impressive talent wherever the fight goes as his striking improves with each fight. Rick can bring the overwhelming game but Hendricks natural talents are hard to ignore.
WINNER-Johny Hendricks by Decision

Leonard Garcia (14-6-1) vs. Nam Phan (16-7) At the very least, this is going to be a fun scrap to watch. Both men enjoy trading on the feet and with Garcia's crazy swinging you never know if he'll get the KO or get KO'd. Not a lot of technical skill here (though they have it they just don't use it) but I'll go with the old WEC veteran.
WINNER-Leonard Garcia by Decision

Prelims (Non-Televised):
David Branch (7-1) vs. Rich Attonito (9-3) I'm a big Branch fan and think his size and superior wrestling should hold court against the so-so Rich. Attonito has not showed me any real promise in any part of his game while David's scrambling impressed in his loss to the now unemployed Gerald Harris.
WINNER-David Branch by Decision

Pablo Garza (9-1) vs. Fredson Paixao (10-3) The "Scarecrow" is a little better than I thought but Kyle is a WEC veteran who has a pretty good game. Sako has a nice mean streak but he might not be quite ready for Paixao's Brazilian style. Still I have this feeling like we will have an Upset here.
UPSET WINNER-Pablo Garcia by Decision

Nick Pace (5-1) vs. Will Campuzano (8-2) Nick missed weight which is never a good sign coming into a fight where you have a size disadvantage and a step up in competition against a well rounded fighter.
WINNER-Will Campuzano by Rd.2 Submission

Kyle Watson (15-6-1) vs. Sako Chivitchian (5-0) Matt Hughes HIT Squad member Kyle has the ground game sewn up and Sako just hasn't faced any real competition yet.
WINNER-Kyle Watson by Rd.3 Submission

Ian Loveland (13-7) vs. Tyler Toner (11-2) Team Quest's "Barn Owl" comes in swinging on his 1st date with the "big time," against a more experienced veteran. Could not tell ya who to pick here so I'm going with....
WINNER-Ian Loveland?

Aaron Wilkinson (6-3) vs. Cody McKenzie (11-0) Cody comes in undefeated and looking like a smaller Serj Tankian while the Brit looks to silence his many critics. I would not dare betting on either guy but perhaps Cody's crazy unbreakable guillotine will rear its head for what has to be a record 9th straight fight!?!
WINNER-Cody McKenzie?
