UFC 124 Results: GSP Victorious Along With Struve & Miller

John Makdessi defeats Pat Audinwood by Unanimous Decision.

Ricardo Almeida defeats T.J. Grant by Unanimous Decision in a lackluster affair.

Sean Pierson defeats Matt Riddle by Unanimous Decision after a 3 round war. Both men just threw for the fences and at the end of the fight, the Canadian crowd gave both men a standing ovation! "Fight Of The Night"

Rafael Natal and Jesse Bongfeldt fight to a Draw. Nobody likes a draw and nobody will like the lack of effort given by these men tonight.

Mark Bocek punks poor Dustin Hazelett with a spectacular Triangle Choke Submission. "McLovin" defended well on the floor but Bocek deftly put on the Triangle from the top position and then brought the elbows for extra fun. Hazelett taps and unfortunately may get the pink slip after 3 losses in a row. "Submission Of The Night"

Dan Miller defeats the always game Joe Doerksen by Split-Decision. I tell ya "El Dirte" never says die and hung with the youngster as long as he could but the judges had to have their say.

Thiago Alves defeats John Howard by Unanimous Decision. "Doomsday" just isn't ready for this level of competition and the "Pitbull" uses his patented leg kicks and dominant striking to hurt John though unable to put him away.

Mac Danzig KO's Joe Stevenson with a perfectly timed counter left hand in the 1st round. "Daddy" shocked me with this loss to an I believe inferior opponent, as Danzig who had lost 4 of his last 5, gets a huge win for his career. "KO Of The Night"
* Mac would be well served to drop to Featherweight while Joe "Daddy" owes me some money and has to take a long look at his career.

Jim Miller defeats Charles Oliveira by Kneebar Submission to ruin "Do Bronx's" perfect record and score a big needed stoppage victory. Charles had the momentum coming into the contest and jumped all over Jim early. The Brazilian went for the leg but Miller countered with the underutilized in MMA kneebar, shocking Charles who taps out.
* Whats a guy got to do to earn a title shot around here? That may have been it. There is a lot of talent at the top of the division and with the mini-tournament giving us much needed clarity, so we will wait before we match-make with Miller.

Stefan Struve shuts up Sean McCorkle by TKO in the 1st round. "Big Sexy" had the advantage early but "Skyscraper" reversed position getting full mount on Sean who came close to securing his deadly Kimura again. From mount Struve just unloaded leaving McCorkle with a blood nose and to be saved by the referee.
* Dominant performance from the youngster and you have to question McCorkle's ability to hang in the Heavyweight division. Make a sky is the limit joke for Stefan and perhaps a meeting with Cheick Kongo will be next.

Georges St. Pierre steamrolls Josh Koscheck for 5 rounds to win via Unanimous Decision. It was a 1-sided affair as GSP used his left jab to close Koscheck's left eye and breaking his orbital bone. "Kos" showed real toughness as the doctor did want to stop the fight between the 3rd and 4th rounds but he soldiered on. The crowd was entertaining as well chanting soccer cheers and cheering their hero. At the end of the final round, the Montreal crowd began to chant, "Na na na na, hey, hey, hey, goodbye." Classic stuff as the villian gets defeated in front of GSP's homeland.
* Jake Shields is next for GSP and knock off the Middleweight and Anderson Silva talk, its not going to happen right now. Koscheck opens up a spot for Jon Fitch (if he defeats BJ Penn) to move in for a future title shot since he doesn't have to go to Middleweight to avoid fighting his friend.

An abysmal 5-5 on the picks to end the year.
