John Cholish defeats Mitch Clarke by TKO in round 2. John showed some impressive scrambling ability in his Zuffa debut.
Jake Hecht Upsets Rich Attonito via TKO by a seemingly innocuous elbows and punches in the 2nd round. The TUF alum controlled the 1st round but in the 2nd, he was working for a takedown when Jake landed a couple of standard elbows that caused Attonito's legs to give out. From there it was a quick G&P for the come from behind win also in his Zuffa debut.
Mark Bocek defeated Nik Lentz much to the delight of educated MMA fans everywhere, by Unanimous Decision. The oft and rightly criticized Lentz was sharper on the feet but was smothered on the ground by the controlling Bocek though he did little damage to his opponent. Nik cut open Mark's forehead and came close to a guillotine choke once but Bocek always pulled through and took back control for a solid win.
Yves Jabouin defeats Walel Watson by a very close Split-Decision. I need to re-watch this one.
Dennis Hallman defeats a hapless John Makdessi by RNC in the very 1st round. I haven't seen someone with that terrible of a lack of grappling defense in a long time. That was rookie embarrassment. Dennis simply came out, took John down, worked to the back and tapped him out in clinical fashion. A terrible showing for the "Bull" and Hallman decently apologized for missing weight while mumbling for Jesus to come and save us all soon.
Constantinos Philippou Upsets Jared Hamman KOing him at 3:11 in the 1st round. The Serra-Longo fighter lands a solid one-two and Hamman drops to the canvas only to immediately rise to his feet to eat an even harder oncoming right hand. Jared gets up again and is staggering all over the Octagon as one more perfectly placed right hand knocks the mustache off of Jared and puts him to sleep! "KO Of The Night"
Igor Pokrajac provided the 3rd Upset of the night KOing Krzysztof Soszynski
just 0:35 into their bout. Igor lands a short right hook the dazes Krzysztof and he attacks. A blitz of punches push Soszynski into the cage and a temple shot drops him lifeless to the mat. Referee Yves Lavigne allows Pokrajac to add some unnecessary extra punishment and then mercifully halts the contest. Krzysztof is out for a minute and then is dazed for quite some time showing the effects of another bad outing for ever terrible referee.

Chan Sung Jung tied the "official"* fastest KO in the UFC putting out Mark Hominick in 7 seconds! An over aggressive Mark threw the 1st punch and then just stood there for a moment eye to eye with the "Zombie" who wasted no time dropping Hominick to the canvas with a straight right hand and pounces for the record finish.
* The unofficial fastest KO in UFC history goes to Duane Ludwig over the iron chinned Jonathan Goulet at UFN 3 in 4 seconds though it is curiously listed as 11 seconds.
** Its an embarrassing loss in front of the homeland for Mark but he will return from this learning experience. The "Korean Zombie" just vaulted up the rankings with such an emphatic win.
Brian Ebersole defeats Claude Patrick by narrow Split-Decision in controversial judging fashion. It was the ugly grind em out kinda fight everyone expected though the decision went the wrong way. You'd think the Canadian would have the advantage with the judges but I guess not. Its a close fight but not one I really care about as creative chest hair guy beats odd dome shaped guy.
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira broke up Tito Ortiz inside, getting the TKO win in the very 1st round! All of you "People's Champ" fans have to be feeling pretty stupid right now. How many times is your here going to trick you into thinking he isn't a fraud? Anywho, Ortiz came out aggressive as always early and folded just as quickly as advertised. "Lil Nog" answered the early punches by digging in his heels and staying with his technical striking. It wasn't long until he was landing and Tito was covering up. It was then that Rogerio landed a few knees and one brutally to the body that dropped Ortiz on his ass. "Minotoro" then climbed on top of Tito and punished the body with unanswered elbows and punches until Ortiz turned away and the referee halted the beatdown.
* Impressive needed win for Nogueira who is now 3-2 in the UFC and Tito heals before his final fight next out.
Frank Mir taps out Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and breaks his arm with a Kimura at 3:38 of the 1st round! "Minotauro" came out angry and aggressive landing punches in bunches and Mir is suddenly dancing on wobbly legs. Frank shoots out of desperation and Rodrigo starts the G&P and is warned for back of the head strikes. This is important because after the warning, "Big Nog" switches gears and looks for an anaconda choke but Mir rolls through it. Rodrigo reverses position but Frank is locked on the Kimura now and lands on top during the scramble and the arm snaps seconds before Nogueira taps out! What a crazy fight! "Fight Of The Night" & "Submission Of The Night"
* A huge win puts Frank Mir back in title contention and this bad injury may spell the end of a legendary fight career for "Big Nog."
Jon Jones put Lyoto Machida to sleep with a standing Guillotine Choke in the 2nd round to retain the Light Heavyweight Championship. The "Dragon" landed one good shot but mostly the men danced and posed as Lyoto takes the opening round. In the 2nd, "Bones" gets a takedown and cuts open Machida on the forehead with a big elbow. A left hand hurts Machida and some follow up knees against the cage allow Jones to secure the standing guillotine. The referee steps in seeing an arm go limp and Jones drops the lifeless corpse of Lyoto to the canvas to retain his belt.
* "Bones" will get a deserved vacation while we sort out the top challengers in the division. Machida will be back in the hunt as well though I'd like to point out this wasn't the technically and aesthetically pleasing romp we were promised.
The UFC's first Flyweight fights will take place at an unannounced PPV event March 3, 2012. Ian McCall vs Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez vs Yasuhiro Urushitani. The winners of these fights will determine the first two title contenders.
"It's not really a tournament," White said. "It's two fights in the same weight class with the best guys -- we've done that a million times. Both fights on the same card and who wins will fight for the title."
An ugly 7-5 on the picking of noses.
