Main Card (FX):
Roy Nelson TKO’s Matt Mitrione at 2:58 of the very 1st round. The men exchanged early looking for openings when “Meathead” got hit and lost his mouthpiece. A “Big Country” uppercut reels Mitrione who hits the canvas and covers up as Roy puts in the finishing touches. A nice emphatic win for Nelson and maybe someday Shane Carwin can get healthy enough for a damn fight with Roy.
Colton Smith defeats Mike Ricci by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26) to become the season 16 TUF winner. The toy soldier did it by smothering a Lightweight for 15 minutes in unimpressive fashion.
Pat Barry KO’d Shane Del Rosario 26 seconds into round 2. A mixed kickboxing attack won Del Rosario the 1st round but “Hype or Die” doesn’t need much opportunity to change a fight around. Shane got a little overaggressive in the 2nd and Pat rocks him with a killer overhand right. Pat erupts all over Shane who collapses against the cage in a stunning finish of power.
Melvin Guillard vs. Jamie Varner was canceled due to illness. Varner became ill after the tough weight cut and the fight will now take place at UFC 155. Melvin is a little upset after Jaime sent the NSAC into his locker room after Varner alerted them that Guillard might be “greasing” and then the fight got completely cancelled. This should to some interesting trash talk leading up to the 2nd attempt at the fight.
Dustin Poirier submits Jonathan Brookins via D’arce Choke at 4:15 of round uno. The Zen Kid looked strong out of the gate using vastly improved striking to keep “Diamond” on his heels. Poirier dug in his heels and landed a crisp hook that wobbled Jon. Brookins looks in trouble and shoots on Dustin as the two fall into the D’arce Choke leaving Jonathan no choice but to tapout after starting so strong!

Prelims (Fuel TV):
Mike Pyle TKO’s the shit outta James Head at 1:55 of round 1. The old man is now 7-3 for Zuffa and riding a 3 fight winning streak all by brutal (T)KO in the 1st round. “Quicksand” is really known for his submission game but he has really turned on some impressive striking as of late. Joe Silva needs to hook this guy up with better opponents and get him off the TUF undercard for christ’s sake!
Johnny Bedford KO’d Marcos Vinicius a minute into the 2nd round. Bedford did it with striking an a well placed soccer kick to the body.
Rustam Khabilov pulled 3 northern lights suplexes out on Vinc Pichel by KOing him at 2:15 of a single, brutal round. The Russian pulled an amazing debut putting together suplexes like Eddie Guerrero in his heyday. Can’t wait to see what this guy can do against a real opponent.
TJ Waldburger submits Nick Catone by Triangle Choke in the 2nd round. TJ put some strikes together that hurt Catone and I don’t know if anybody can hang with this kid on the floor. TJ is impressive, young, and always going for the finish. This guy is a true prospect to watch in the coming year!
