Joanna Jedrzejczyk TKO’d Jessica Penne via Strikes at 4:22 of the 3rd round.
If you didn't think Joanna "Champion" was a star before UFC Fight Night 69, you must now. Jedrzejczyk annihilated Penne for 3 brutal rounds that were not for the squeamish. You gotta love the toughness Jessica displayed but she just could not hang with the vicious striking of the champ. Joanna hit a stiff elbow to the nose of Penne creating a bloody mess and things only go worse from there. A good corner would have stopped this onslaught but Penne soldiered on enduring more and more punishment before the referee finally stopped the madness and Jessica was left a swollen, bloody mess. "MVP (Performance) of the Night"
THIS USED TO BE PENNE |
This lady "gets it" and is destined for stardom.
The "Crusher" struggled with his takedown attempts early but switched grips and went to the double leg in the 2nd and the night was over for Siver. Kawajiri controlled the action for the final 10 minutes.
Tatsuya just has not improved his striking over the years and at age 37, his ceiling is limited though he is still a favorite carry over from Pride FC for MMAFO.
Siver has now gone 1-3-1 since '13 and time has run out on the 36 year old's career. Mark it down, this guy is done.
Peter Sobotta submitted Steven Kennedy by RNC at 2:57 of the 1st round.
Peter landed some nice punches early punctuated by some liver kicks as the crowd chanted Sobotta's name. Mr. Kennedy looked for the takedown against the cage but Peter turned onto his back locking the body triangle and then the RNC to prove who the better grappler was.
Nick Hein defeated Lukasz Sajewski by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
Makwan Amirkhani submitted Masio Fullen via RNC, Round 1, at 1:41 of the very 1st round.
"Mr. Finland" needed only 0:08 seconds in his debut for a finish win and just under 2 minutes for his 2nd bout. "Lobo" went for the leg kick but Amirkhani shot a double leg takedown, taking the back and sunk in the RNC. Fullen defended for a while but eventually succumbed to the choke. Makwan is an impressive young man and now 12-2 in his young career. A man to watch for sure! "Submission of the Night"
Mairbek Taisumov TKO’d Alan Patrick by Punches at 1:30 of the 2nd round.
Pat kicked Taisumov in the cup and then immediately poked the eye of Mairbek (which immediately swelled) to halt the bout early. Back to action, as Alan continued to throw his wild attacks which yielded nothing. After yet another failed takedown attempt Taisumov caught Alan across the head with a high kick that sent Patrick to the ground. A few coffin nails from Roger Huerta's student and this thing was over.
Patrick's weigh-in back flip will now be forgotten as the guy's reckless attacks are useless. Reaching from too far of a distance or ridiculous rolling somersault's that elicited boo's from the crowd do not work, and make Alan look like an amateur.
For his part, Mairbek looked solid. The guy is a stout Lightweight who is now 4-1 for Zuffa and still growing as a fighter.
Arnold Allen submitted Alan Omer via Guillotine Choke at 1:45 of the 3rd round.
Noad Lahat defeated Niklas Backstrom by Majority Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-28).
Scott Askham TKO’d Antonio dos Santos Jr. via Strikes at 2:52 of the 1st round.
A lot of power from lil' ADSJ but a clean 1-2 dropped Jr. and as Scott swarmed, a beautiful left knee to the dome claimed the Brazilian for good. "(T)KO of the Night"
Magomed Mustafaev TKO’d Piotr Hallmann by Doctor's Stoppage at 3:24 of the 2nd round.
Taylor Lapilus TKO’d Yuta Sasaki by Punches at 1:22 of the 2nd round.
MMAFO went 9-2 on the picks.
