Bellator 138 Results: Kimbo KO's Shamrock

Spike TV Main Card Results

Kevin Ferguson TKO’d Ken Shamrock with two Punches at 2:22 of the 1st round in the epic, unprecedented, spectacular, long awaited, mega-bout!

“Yeeeeeaaaaaaah, what a rush!” blared on the speakers and Road Warrior Animal came out to introduce his friend Kenny. Then some blonde lady came out and began terribly lip syncing to a song from Frozen or something as a group of lost children followed “Shammy” down the ramp looking for the exit.

That was as hilarious and terrible as was expected. Ken came out and went for the worst looking takedown attempt ever hugging “Kimbo” as the two cuddled against the cage. The “World’s Most Dangerous Man” (ahem) then got a single leg takedown and scrambled into back position locking in the RNC for the win! Oh wait. Despite having the choke in deep, Shamrock could not finish even though it looked as though “Slicer” wanted to tap a few times. Eventually, Fergie turned into the choke and got free. As the men went to stand, Ferguson launched two punches that connected on Shamrock who went tumbling down, legs akimbo (HA!, get it?), like the 51 year old man he is. The referee saw Ken’s glassed over eyes and the bout was mercifully stopped.

Who should “Kimbo” fight next you ask? His best shot would be in the WWE, but should “Slicinator” want another MMA bout, Bellator has the worst Heavyweights you can imagine so the sky is the limit. Obviously, Bobby Lashley would beat him in seconds but who wouldn’t watch Kevin fight gangsta Lavar “Big” Johnson?

Ken will fight father time next and lose. At least with his insanely dark tan he appeared as leathery as Hulk Hogan, which, is something.

Patricio Freire KO’d Daniel Weichel via Left Hook at 0:32 of the 2nd round in a dramatic comeback to retain his Featherweight Title!

“Pitbull 1” as MMAFO lovingly calls him, started slow but began to roll late in the 1st round as he began finding his mark. Unexpectedly, Weichel finally found his range as well rocking Freire badly at the end of the round, and actually thought he had won the fight, but time had expired robbing him of the upset. Patricio looked completely lost and out of it between rounds as his corner tried to wake him with ice and water. The 2nd began and the left hook MMAFO warned you about found its mark obliterating Daniel with prejudice! Amazing comeback for the champ and an entertaining scrap. "KO of the Night"

Bobby Lashley TKO’d Dan Charles at 4:14 of the 2nd round in a lackluster bout.

Lashley continues to skip leg day (didja see his bizarrely small legs?) but was able to continually slam Dan to the mat despite the numerous fence grabs. Referee John McCarthy continues to be one of the most overrated zebra’s in the business today warning Charles 48 times and even knocking his hand away from the fence thrice without taking a damn point. Ridiculous. It didn’t matter as Dan “The Man” had no takedown defense and was throttled for a very boring bout.

Daniel Straus submitted Henry Corrales by Guillotine Choke at 3:47 of the 2nd round in a dominant performance!

Straus didn’t like the talk coming from Corrales pre-fight, and made the rookie pay. Daniel destroyed Henry start to finish in a dominating performance that was impressive! Straus rocked ze German numerous times on the feet and then viciously choked him out to put himself as the #1 contender to “Pitbull” yet again. The quiet killer got loud for once telling all the 145’s, “I’mma beat yo ass!” Nice. "MVP (Performance) of the Night"

Michael Chandler tapped Derek Campos via RNC at 2:27 of the very 1st round in front of a raucous hometown crowd.

There was no chance that Chandler was going to lose a 4th fight in a row and especially not in front of the home crowd. Mikey ran through the tough Campos and would not be denied as the Missouri crowed roared for their own. "Submission of the Night"

Prelim Results

Miles McDonald submitted Dan O'Connor by RNC at 4:30 of the last round.
Justin Lawrence TKO’d Sean Wilson via Strikes 4:56 in the initial round.
Hugh Pulley defeated Eric Irvin by Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 30-27).
Kyle Kurtz defeated Adam Cella by Armbar at 4:13 of the 2nd round.
Justin Guthrie submitted Steven Mann by D'Arce Choke at 1:09 of the 2nd round.
Chris Heatherly defeated Garrett Gross by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Bellator Notes:

Its always good to see The “Last Emperor” Fedor Emelianenko in the house!

Nick Diaz in the crowd was also a surprise in the crowd that the UFC is sure to enjoy.

President Scott Coker announced Light Heavyweight Champion Liam McGeary will face far past his prime Tito Ortiz for the 1st defense of his belt at “Bellator: Dynamite” September 19th. Liam seemed amused at Tito’s trash talk. Most likely because he has no fear of the geriatric wrestler.

Also on the card, Coker announced a 1 Night Light Heavyweight Tournament between Muhammad Lawal, Emanuel Newton, Linton Vassell, and newly arriving Paul Davis. This could be a great tourney as long as the winners stay healthy enough to compete twice in the evening.

The “tent pole event” will also feature co-promotion with Glory Kickboxing and feature a ring as well as the cage which should prove interesting as well.

MMAFO went 10-3 on the picks.
