But things aren't all gravy as teammate Rashad Evans is the #1 contender. Coach Greg Jackson had said he would pull out and corner neither fighter but now "Suga" has spoke up and bashed his now former coach on Twitter. Greg Jackson's camp is possibly avoiding more turmoil as Nate Marquardt is contemplating a move to Welterweight if Georges St. Pierre moves up to Middleweight. The "Great" is a large 185er and I have no idea how he could make this weight. Nate easily dispatched Dan Miller by Decision but he also doesn't want to face teammate and friend GSP in battle.
Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic has been cut from the UFC. 27-9-2 in a MMA career full of highlights and the awe of fans across the world. 4-5 in the UFC, time simply caught up to the man who never quite made a full transition from K-1 to MMA. Luckily, his stand up was so devastating that he destroyed more than he lost and developed a takedown defense 2nd to none. It is simply time to walk away as we sadly see the "old guard" pass on the torch. Mirko has not officially retired but had said before if he was cut from the UFC that he would retire. We shall see.
Speaking of the new guard, Brendan Schaub has called out Antonio Nogueira for a fight in his home of Brazil. Obviously the "Hybrid" has noticed the age on some of these "legends" and is using the end of their careers to make his name. Nothing wrong with that but the guy is a fraudulent asshole. The fact that Jim Miller isn't the #1 contender to Frankie Edgar is nothing short of a crime. That's 7 in a row in the UFC and 20-2 overall. Two straight finishes quiets the fans whispering "decision fighter" and does he just get no love because he is humble and doesn't talk shit to other fighters? I didn't think you should be punished for that. The UFC needs to take care of this guy financially or with the title shot he deserves.
