UFC FIGHT NIGHT 63 Results: Clay "The GOAT" Guida

Sweet egg laying Jesus we did horrible on the picks going 6-4 on the afternoon card. Favorites went 7-3 to further our embarrassment. Apologies all around though there were two judges robberies and we seem to continually pick “highly touted” Russian Heavyweights to our detriment. Perhaps we are looking too hard for another Fedor Emelianenko which will never come.

FOX Sports 1 Main Card Results
Chad Mendes TKO’d Ricardo Lamas via Punches at 2:45 of the initial round.

“Money” landed a shot to the top of Lamas’ head which sent him careening all over the Octagon. Mendes never gave him the chance to recover swarming with punches and battering Ricardo’s valiant efforts to search for a life saving takedown. Mercifully, the bout was finally stopped as highly overrated referee Dan Miragliotta let the punishment go on too long.

Another devastating win for “Money” Mendes who now sits in hope that Conor McGregor can unseat the Champion Jose Aldo to give him title hopes.

Al Iaquinta defeated Jorge Masvidal in a razor close Split Decision (29-28, 27-30, 29-28) and then the “Long Island Idiot” went off on the crowd!

Jorge’s boxing was on point early as he was landing the more significant strikes with ease and even landed a flying knee. A shot to Iaquinta rocked the Serra-Long product who crashed to the canvas. Masvidal followed up with blows and opened a massive cut under the right eye of Al which bled like mad for the rest of the fight.

Things began to change in the 2nd round. Masivdal took his foot off the accelerator as Iaquinta began landing numerous leg kicks that showed visible damage to Jorge’s left leg which he pawed at with discomfort numerous times as the close round came to a close.

In the final round, Masvidal again relied on his jab but really coasted while Al went for broke looking for a scissor takedown, swinging widely, and giving his all in the final 5 minutes. It was a very close fight but credit Al for battling back from adversity while Jorge rested on his laurels. A lesson all MMA fighters should learn.
Post fight, “Raging” Al lived up to his official nickname as the crowd boo’d the decision causing Iaquinta to come unglued. Al pointed into the crowd yelling, “Are you boing me? You better not be booing me. Fuck you!” As you can imagine, this only incited the already angry Virginia crowd. Is it any wonder why MMAFO has dubbed Al the “Long Island Idiot?” Fun and funny stuff! “Fight of the Night”

Michael Chiesa defeated Mitch Clarke by Unanimous Decision (29-26, 29-26, 29-28).

Went as predicted.

Julianna Pena TKO’d Milana Dudieva with Strikes at 3:59 of the opening round.

Pena showed zero ring rust as she got top control and unloaded punches and elbows for which Milana had no response. Impressive return and now lets get her some higher level competition. “Performance of the Night”

* It must be noted that moron Vinny Magalhaes tweeted out an insult comparing Pena to transgender fighter Fallon Fox and then called a fan who objected to the homophobic slur as a “faggot.” Vinny has always been a stupid human being but now he is apparently jealous of a strong woman who has already had more success in the UFC than he ever did.

Clay Guida defeated Robbie Peralta via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) even with an exploded eye!

Peralta had nothing for the “Carpenter” who hilariously took a shot at the Lightweight Champion Rafael dos Anjos whom he has already defeated and also who’s jaw he broke requiring metal implants. Clay slyly said if RDA needs an adjustment to his titanium jaw, he is a Carpenter and would be glad to help. Hilarious stuff. Ya just gotta love Guida as did the crowd who roared for him not only for his entire fight, but in subsequent bouts as well by chanting his name!

Dustin Poirier KO’d Carlos Diego Ferreira via Punches at 3:45 of the very 1st round.

Perhaps “Diamond” is better suited for the Lightweight division. Poirier looked just fine dispatching the afro’d Ferreira with relative ease. It has long been reported that Dustin used extreme methods to cut down to 145 and his temperament seems much steadier at 155. Perhaps a run is in the works for the talented ATT fighter. “KO of the Night”

FOX Sports 1 Prelim Results
Liz Carmouche defeated Lauren Murphy by Decision (29-28. 29-28, 29-28) in a very close fight.

Well, we can’t say we’re too upset since we are always cheering for Liz, but we’re not so sure she should’ve been given the win this night. It was as close of a fight as expected but we at MMAFO, and many other MMA sites saw things for Murphy. Two close losses in her 1st two UFC bouts will likely only motivate Lauren further, but this was a bit sketchy.

Alexander Yakovlev defeated Gray Maynard via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27) most likely ending the “Bully’s” run with Zuffa.

That’s 4 losses in a row for Gray if’n you are keeping track at home but at least he stayed conscious for 3 rounds! Yeesh. Things are looking rather dark for Maynard who may have fought his last in the UFC.

Timothy Johnson TKO’d Shamil Abdurakhimov with Punches at 4:57 of the opening round of this Heavyweight contest.

Another overrated Russian Heavyweight? When will we learn our lesson?

Ron Stallings defeated Justin Jones by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27).

This happened in case you are wondering though we know nobody is.
