UFC on Fox 16 Results: TJ, Tate, & Lauzon Destroy!

Fox Main Card Results

TJ Dillashaw TKO'd Renan Pegado with a flurry of Punches 0:35 into the 3rd round to retain his Bantamweight title.

It was apparent early on that TJ's 1st win was not a fluke. Dillashaw was far faster than "Barao" who whiffed time and time again really giving the air a beating. The Team Alpha Male Champion worked his impressive boxing and footwork never allowing Renan to get his leg kicking game going and then unloaded a 3,000 punch combination that the referee mercifully halted. TJ retains in impressive fashion. "MVP (Performance) of the Night"

A lot of people are calling for Dominick Cruz to fight TJ next but we heard that Cruz went to the mailbox to pick up a parcel and his arm fell off. So don’t be waiting on this guys return.

Raphael Assuncao should be next in line be he is also injured.

MMAFO has the answer though intrepid fight fans and should ole "Mighty Mouse" get past John Dodson next weekend, we have the makings of a super fight! If Johnson wins he'll also be devoid of any challengers so the fight would make sense.

Meisha Tate defeated Jessica Eye via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

How tough is Miesha Tate really? This woman was taking nasty combinations from Eye early but she stayed focused and saw the opening when Jessica would retreat with her arms out and her head straight up. An overhand right from hell dropped Eye and changed the course of the bout. Tate was able to hurt Jessica again in the 2nd and out grapple her in the 3rd for an impressive shutout.

Now "Cupcake" is the #1 contender to Ronda Rousey should she get past Bethe Correia next weekend setting up the strange trilogy fight. Strange because Tate lost the 1st two but a lot of fans never saw the initial meeting in Strikeforce and there really aren't any other contenders in the division. Best of luck Miesha.

Edson Barboza defeated Paul Felder by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Basically, Ed was faster and landed more often while the "Irish Dragon" ate them. Sure Paul was very tough and any man that can rebound from that brutal kick to the groin is a true warrior, but he just didn't have enough. Perhaps its too much too soon for Felder but this young man has got a very bright future in front of him. Props to Barboza's chin that made us sound like idiots. "Fight of the Night"

NINJA LAU
Joe Lauzon TKO'd Takanori Gomi via Punches at 2:37 of the initial round.

"J-Lau" got Gomi down with a single leg and destroyed him. Gomi didn't even try and it looked like he might be tapping but Lauzon is a good guy and stopped the beating himself. Nice win for Joe and we're not sure how much longer the 36 year old "Fireball Kid" should stick around. MMAFO's staff loves the guy but we also don't want to see him take unnecessary punishment. Gomi has a long storied career and would have nothing to hang his head about should he retire today.

Fox Prelim Results

Tom Lawlor KO'd Gian Villante by Right Hook 0:27 into the 2nd round.

Villante’s chin, strikes again! Gian was absolutely rolling in this fight, eating up Lawlor’s legs and easily winning the stand up game… until the 2nd round. Villante came in, hands down, and ate a pinpoint right hook that wrecked him. Tom added a few shots on the mat and the referee stopped the fight. Gian stood up to complain, but found himself on wobbly legs which defeated his protest. The fight game be crazy folks. "KO of the Night"

Jim Miller defeated Danny Castillo via Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 30-27).

Joe Rogan and sheep Goldberg really missed an interesting fight as they fawned over Castillo. Miller was doing a lot of good work and actually landing his punches while Danny did not. Castillo may have thrown and danced more, but they either missed or were blocked most of the time. Its just another case of the announcers focusing on one fighter and not really paying attention to the entirety of the bout. A shame really but the correct decision was rendered. Good to see Jim get a needed win.

SUP BEETCHES!
Ben Saunders defeated Kenny Robertson by Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28).

"Killa-B" was really trying to make us sweat with this one. It all came down to how you scored the 1st round. Robertson clearly won the 2nd round and Saunders clearly took the 3rd. Obviously highly biased, we scored it for Ben but we also truly believe he won the fight. Saunders did get dropped at the end of the opening round with but a few seconds left, but it was a flash knockdown after winning 4:45 of the round. An atta boy goes out to "Killa-B" who is now 3-0 on his 2nd run with Zuffa!

Bryan Caraway defeated Eddie Wineland by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28).

Did not see this one coming. Ed just didn't fight. No idea why. Miesha's boy actually beat Wineland on the feet in a pretty dull fight. Strange goings on.

UFC Fight Pass Prelim Results

James Krause submitted Daron Cruickshank via RNC at 1:27 of the opening round.

James "The James Krause" Krause representing Lee's Summit bitches! How about that Missouri boy doing what he do when everybody counted him out? Nice work for James and now having lost 2 in a row, Daron's back will be against the wall in his next outing. "Submission of the Night"

Andrew Holbrook defeated Ramsey Nijem by Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) in a bad judges rendering.

Um, no. Holbrook did not win this bout. Nijem clearly won 2 of the 3 rounds though he was dominating on the feet and then taking Andrew down which was just infuriating. This kid cannot use a proper game plan to save his life. Still, he won and got robbed by the judges.

OOPSIES!
Elizabeth Phillips defeated Jessamyn Duke via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Oh this fight was just terrible. Neither of these ladies look like UFC level fighters but Phillips took the 1st two rounds before she gassed out badly.

We would be remiss if we didn't point out the "wardrobe malfunction" and the fact that MMAFO called this long ago. We love to say we told ya so, and we told ya so. We knew this would happen and Reebok will continue to take the bad press in this debacle.

Zak Cummings TKO'd Dominique Steele with Punches only 0:43 into the fight.

Zak just came out and obliterated Steele. Poor kid only had a weeks notice but it would not have mattered anyway. Our only critique for Cummings is change that gawd awful entrance music!

We can't exactly say that we're happy with going 7-5 on the picks, but there was 1 robbery and it was a tough card to predict. So goes the MMA game but it was a good card nonetheless.

* A final note, UFC President Dana White came out and thrashed recently fired cutman Roberto "Stitch" Duran in an interview after the event.
"No, he won't be coming back," The bald bully stated. "First of all, you do realize we have 10 cutmen that work for the UFC?"
"Stitch Duran needs to learn what the meaning of 'friend' is. Stitch Duran and I were never friends. We were work associates. We came up together from the boxing world, and when we hired cutmen, he's one of the guys I brought in here. Friends are people you talk to, hang out with a lot of the time."
"We weren't friends. We're not friends, and no, he shouldn't have been expecting a call from me."
Is was really quite unnecessarily nasty and BLAF continues to be a entitled dick in his appointed position. There was no reason for such hate filled comments as Zuffa continues to act like tyrants to their employees.

The UFC screwed the fighters endorsement deals saying they didn't want to look like Nascar anymore, but the Octagon is still littered with Metro PCS, Corn Nuts, the ugly Monster logo, Fram, and other shit. Seems a bit hypocritical to us.

MMAFO wonders when fans and fighters will finally have enough of these strong-arm tactics?
