WSOF 25 Results: Foster & High Win

Lightweight Tournament Finals:

Brian Foster TKO’d Joao Zeferino via Strikes at 4:51 of the 2nd round to win the tournament and become the new #1 contender.

Okay, this is why tournaments don’t work in modern MMA. Foster got caught and tapped in his initial bout with the same Joao Zeferino but when Mike Ricci could not continue in the tourney, Brian was tapped (ahem) to step back in. On his 2nd attempt Foster made good by escaping the Heelhook attempts and blasting Zeferino out. It makes it hard to consider yourself the big winner when you split fights with Joao on the very same card. Ah, well.

Jason High KO’d Estevan Payan at 0:47 of the 2nd round in a stellar return to action.

The “KC Bandit” came out in the 2nd round firing a left high kick that dropped Payan and High put on the finishing touches with punches. A great return for Jason could make some serious noise in WSOF’s Lightweight division.

Lightweight Tournament Semifinals:

Brian Foster TKO’d Luis Palomino at 4:19 of the 2nd round.

Joao Zeferino submitted Jorge Patino via Heelhook at 1:24 of the opening round.

Joseph Barajas TKO’d Erik Villalobos at 4:06 of the final round.

Roberto Yong TKO’d Jimmy Scully at 1:11 of the very 1st round.

Lightweight Tournament Opening Rounds:

Mike Ricci TKO’d Joe Condon at 2:41 of the 1st round.

Luis Palomino KO’d Rich Patishnock at 4:54 of the initial round.

Joao Zeferino submitted Brian Foster via Heelhook at 1:46 of the opening round.

Islam Mamedov defeated Jorge Patino by Unanimous Decision.

Tournament Reserve Bout:

Ramil Mustapayev def. LaRue Burley via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

In other bouts Joseph Barajas and Roberto Yong also won.

5-3 on the picks.
