Robbie Lawler defeated Carlos Condit by controversial Split Decision (47-48, 48-47 2x) in a close fight.

First of all, everybody calm the fuck down. People are calling this the "greatest 170 bout" and all sorts of hyperbole but lets all take a breath and be honest. It was a good bout. Not great, but good. There were moments sublime to be sure but upon re-watching this fight, there were also lulls in the action. The true "Fight of the Night" is further down the card. All that being said, it was a solid fight but people are going way to far overboard in their lauding of praise on this "main event."

Anywho, most MMA pundits agree Condit won rounds 1 and 4 while Lawler won 2. Aha, see what we did there? We did not just straight away give Robbie the 5th round as most people do. Lawler did land the more impactful shots, but later in the round and one can look close and see Carlos answering said shots with more activity. It depends on if you score damage or accumulation more on the cards. As far as the controversial 3rd round most people believe is at the heart of this debate, we scored it for Condit which would give him the fight, and the Welterweight title by a score of 48-47. 

No matter how one scored the bout, it was close as hell, and despite the recent cries that there are too many rematches in MMA today, that is precisely the right call. Most believe the wrong man walked out with the belt and the ambiguity calls for another go. 

* Side note, fans should stop complaining about the "rematch" trend in the game. Are our attention spans so soft that we cannot watch great warriors do the damn thing again? This is a byproduct of the sport we love. Close fights, call for the old school "prove it" rule. MMAFO loves rematches for they show the importance of the prior bout and the stakes upon the current one. 

Stipe Miocic TKO’d Andrei Arlovski by Punches in the very 1st round to become the new #1 contender at Heavyweight!

"Steepay" was jacked up after this win! Miocic exploded in screams at the edge of the Octagon demanding a title shot from the UFC brass. Damn good work son, you earned it. Stipe Miocic is the new #1 contender at Heavyweight. "(T)KO of the Night"

Albert Tumenov defeated Lorenz Larkin by Split Decision.

Brian Ortega submitted Diego Brandao by Triangle Choke in the 3rd and final round.

Folks we may have the "Submission of the Year" already for '16. Just do yourself a favor and watch this fight. "Submission of the Night"

Abel Trujillo tapped Tony Sims via Guillotine in the opening frame.

Michael McDonald submitted Masanori Kanehara by RNC in the 2nd round after a two year absence.

Alex Morono Upset Kyle Noke via Split Decision in a miscarriage of justice.

This judging was just awful and nobody can defend this mess. 

Justine Kish defeated Nina Ansaroff by Unanimous Decision in yet another bout that the judges got wrong.

Again, yet another terrible decision. WTF is going on?

Drew Dober defeated Scott Holtzman via Unanimous Decision (29-28 3x).

Dustin Poirier defeated Joe Duffy by Unanimous Decision (30-26, 30-27 2x) in a bloody conflict.

Watch this goddamn fight. Wow. Nothing but good stuff and all props to Poirier who is looking like a true player at 155. "Fight of the Night"

Michinori Tanaka defeated Joe Soto by Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) in another bad call by the judges in attendance.

Jesus fucking Christ in a hammock. The judges tonight were just shit. Just shit. Soto got jobbed here folks.

Sheldon Westcott TKO’d Edgar Garcia with Punches at 3:12 of the initial round. 

A paltry 7-5 on the picks which is a bad start for '16.
