UFC on Fox 18 Results: A Bunch of Lame Crap

Main Card Results:

Anthony Johnson KO’d Ryan Bader with punches at 1:26 of the very 1st round.

"Tony J" went out there and beat Ryan Bader like he was a mouthy female! Anthony Johnson is an unrepentant woman abuser is what we're saying here.

It had been too long since Ryan Bader made a giant mistake in a fight so you had to know the blunder was coming. The bout began with Bader shooting for a takedown from far away and Ryan paid a heavy price. Johnson easily sprawled and took top position while “Darth” attempted an ill advised kimura that he could not hold. “Rumble” escaped and on Bader’s back he reigned down strikes leaving Ryan unconscious in his wake. Also, did we mention he has a history of domestic abuse?

Afterthoughts:
Now Anthony Johnson claims he “will wait” for a title shot even though the rematch between Champion Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones has not even been signed. We’ve seen this play out so many times you have to know that something major will happen and “Rumble” will be left without a title shot and a long period of inactivity to show for it. Why do fighters continue to do this?

* Anthony Johnson is now tied for 3rd all time (with Chuck Liddell) in the UFC with 10 knockouts.

Ben Rothwell submitted Josh Barnett by Guillotine at 3:48 of the 2nd round!

The “Warmaster” looked tepid as this fight began and things didn’t get better. Barnett just looked unenthused even though he narrowly won the initial round. In the 2nd, Josh went for the takedown and Rothwell latched onto what he called a “gogo choke” from which Barnett tapped to the shock of the MMA world! This was the 1st time in 42 professional fights that Josh tapped out to a submission maneuver! Wow. "Submission of the Night"

Afterthoughts:
Do we have to start taking Ben Rothwell seriously? The “Dark Lord” has now won 4 in a row and all of them via finish. This big goofy bastard has placed himself in the Heavyweight title mess which is almost as surprising as Barnett tapping!

Jimmie Rivera defeated Iuri Alcantara by Unanimous Decision (29-28 3x).

New Jersey’s “El Terror” defended the homeland in a spirited scrap with Alcantara. Rivera was able to mix in the takedowns to keep Iuri honest and used his aggression to carry him on the cards. Thats 18 in a row for Jimmie if’n you are counting at home.

Bryan Barberena derailed the hype train by tapping Sage Northcutt via Arm-Triangle at 3:06 of the 2nd round!

Oh shit don’t get squeamish now haters. When Cody Pfister faced “Super” Sage last month, it was noticed by many that Northcutt simply held on for a quick and suspect stand up by the referee after the 19 year old showed his lack of knowledge on the ground. Barberena and the MMA Lab took note and after a competitive 1st round, Sage came out throwing a cartwheel kick which landed him on his back as Bryan took top position. “Bam Bam” then brought down the elbows as Northcutt again tried to hold on for dear life not knowing what to do. The continued strikes were taking their toll as Sage grimaced and then Barberena wrapped the youth in the arm-triangle choke, while in half guard, and on the wrong side. Northcutt “panic tapped” and the hype is ova!

Afterthoughts:
The MMA world was aTwitter with fighters saying,

Ben Askren @Benaskren
Can I say it was a weak tap??? Just freaking embarrassing, I'd retire my gloves effective immediately

Mike Brown @mikebrownmma
Wow, we got a new president of the quick tap club.

Tony Ferguson @TonyFergusonXT
•Woo!!! Tapped like a little Bitch & Tried to tel the Ref Different!! @sagenorthcutt VonFlu/Got You

Justin Gaethje @Justin_Gaethje
@joerogan says "wow he tapped in half guard" that's @UFCONFOX lingo for wow he is definitely a pussy. He's young but I agree with you Joe.

Lorenz Larkin @da_MONSOON
Lol...............in half guard

Kevin Lee @MoTownPhenom
It's not that @sagenorthcutt lost, its that he quit. Its exactly what I been saying:the first time he faces some real s--- in his life he quit

Jens Pulver @jens_pulver
Showed a ton of heart fighting out of that sub.....worth every penny.

Briann @BrianStann
Wow. That hype train got hit w/ a nuke

Din Thomas @DinThomas
Sage got exposed. He never faced a guy from a top gym. Elite coaches ALWAYS find the hole. @TheMMALAB @Firas_Zahabi @JacksonWinkMMA

Ah yes, take in the revelry fight fans and don’t feel bad. The UFC overpaid this underqualified kid money they should have been paying their veterans. That isn’t Sage’s fault and this stumbling block and some humility may just be what he needs to transition into a real prospect.

Also, we’ve got money saying Bryan Barberena goes on to do nothing and Northcutt comes back better. Just give the youth about 3 years or so. However, “Bam Bam’s” post fight gesture to the camera to “wait a minute,” while he mocked Sage by doing a forward rolling somersault was hilarious!

Prelim Results:

The rest of the card is nothing short of shit. Its bizarre that this pathetic lineup is what the UFC chose to feature on a night where they knew the eyes of the uneducated fans would be upon them.

Diego Ferreira Upset Olivier Aubin-Mercier by Unanimous Decision.

“GSP Jr.” looked quite bad.

Rafael Natal TKO’d Kevin Casey with Punches 3:37 into the 3rd and final round.

Kevin Casey has less of a right to be in the UFC than Sage Northcutt.

Wilson Reis defeated Dustin Ortiz by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

Cute lil’ guys be-bopped around the cage for 15.

Alexander Yakovlev KO’d George Sullivan via Right Hook 3:59 into the initial round.

At least Yakovlev looked good and landed a left hand and put his whole body into the follow up right hook which caught George flush rendering him unconscious in violent fashion. “KO of the Night”

Alex Caceres defeated Masio Fullen by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

Yup it happened and he had an afro.

Randy Brown defeated Matt Dwyer by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Uh-huh.

Damon Jackson versus Levan Makashvili ended in Majority Draw (28-28, 28-28, 29-27).

This was a debacle. Makashvili kneed Jackson to the head while he was down and when the bout restarted, Levan poked Damon in the damn eye. A point was taken but we would have liked to see Makashvili disqualified for the infractions.

Tony Martin submitted Felipe Olivieri by RNC at 3:02 of the 3rd round.

Whooooo cares?
