UFC Fight Night 84 Results: Michael Bisping DEFEATS Anderson Silva In A Bizarre War!!!

Main Card Results:

Michael Bisping defeated Anderson Silva by Unanimous Decision (48-47, 48-47, 48-47) in a bizarre but entertaining “main event!”

This was a bizarre one but boy did it live up to and surpass the hype in an entertaining bout between legends! The men came out and got to work with Bisping pressuring and trying to establish the range while the "Spider" did his normal thing and scouted for much of the 1st round. Then toward the end of the opening five, Anderson began to feel "it" and called Mike forward. The "Count" lands two left hands and Silva staggers at the end of time screaming at Mike and trying to hug him after the round ends. Bisping pushes him away.

The 2nd round begins, and Bisping gets to work quicker this time walking Anderson against the fence and working his boxing. Silva bursts with a combination and Michael grins back. Bisping lands the left solid again and down goes Silva! Anderson catches the aggressive Brit coming in with a (legal) upkick and they fall into guard. Mike unloads a barrage but time expires and the Brazilian seems okay.

Now things go crazy. The 3rd round begins, and Bisping seems punched out and weary from the end of the previous round. Mike is avoiding action but Anderson is only clowning and not really throwing strikes. Finally, a big punch knocks out Bisping's mouthpiece and he points to it on the ground. Herb Dean doesn't stop the action and Mike points at it again only to eat a spectacular flying knee that sends him crashing to the canvas and instantly bloody. The round ends and "The Spider" ascends the Octagon to begin celebrating as the referee says the fight is not over and the fight will continue with a 4th round. A visibly wounded Bisping finally takes the stool in his proper corner and looks like he can't continue. An employee finally gets Silva to understand the fight is not over and he yells, "fuck!" while climbing down with but a few seconds to spend with his corner as they ready him to fight.

* That was a massive mistake by Bisping. The referee will stop the bout at his discretion and Michael should have continued fighting and instead a momentary lapse has cost him brutally. Anderson also erred assuming the fight was over.

The unlikely 4th begins, and the Brit's face is a crimson mask. Anderson takes an accidental low blow and takes the time allowing Bisping more time to recover! They re-start only to have Silva catch a finger to the eye and time halts again! Mike then continues coming forward and statistically has his best round! For the final moments of the round, Anderson lands a pair of elbows and a Superman punch. The "Count" was 28 for Bisping and 19 significant strikes for Silva in the closest and most important round of the fight.

Its the final round an a battered and bloody "Count" walks into a high kick to begin things! The doctor is called in to look at Mike's eye but the fight continues as the crowd roars. The feared front kick from Silva rocks Bisping and follows up with a flurry. Michael goes for a takedown but is denied. Anderson is calling Bisping on but not throwing and then gets on his bike for the final seconds in a risky strategy.

The decision is rendered unanimous for Michael Bisping and Anderson Silva is absolutely shocked but he played around in the Octagon for a lot of the time not actually scoring points. It was a very close fight but the records will score it for "The Count" and is biggest career win! "Fight of the Night"

FightMetric Statistics

Anderson Silva landed 75 total significant strikes and 75 total strikes. Silva had 1 knockdown.

Gegard Mousasi defeated Thales Leites via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27) with a bad attitude.

Mousasi withstood the early takedown attempts by Leites and then the fight was his. Gegard stood behind his jab for the majority of the evening busting up Thales and running away with the fight. The crowd boo'd not appreciating the effort by "Sweet Sassy Mousasi" who flips off the crowd at the end.

The anger continued post fight as Mousasi stating "I would like to fight Michael Bisping, Vitor Belfort ... Machida, when he's not on steroids and he's not greased up, No, because it's true. The guy was fucking greased up, and he looked like a 15-year-old boy when I fought him. Obviously he was in Brazil. He was so fucking slippery. People now are surely going to say that I'm a bad loser, but the guy didn't look normal for a fucking 38-year-old, and greased up all the way! He was greased up. Once he sweat, it was greasy. Even Luke Rockhold said that he was greased up when they fought. He's a cheater. What can I say? ...Fuck him!"

Wow. Not the normal stoic demeanor from Mousasi we are used to!

Tom Breese defeated Keita Nakamura by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28).

Breese won easily but did so on cruise control in a lackluster effort we were surprised by. Hey, the guy has to put minutes in the Octagon. Whatcha gonna do?

Brad Pickett defeated Francisco Rivera via Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28).

This was a very close fight as well. Rivera's power hurt Pickett multiple times but the Brit came back and the men went toe to toe in a battle!
