Bellator 158 Results: The Pokemon Skull Crusher

Main Card Results:

Douglas Lima defeated Paul Daley by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

Lima dropped Daley early in the 1st and then used the extent of his MMA arsenal to control the pesky Englander for 25 minutes.

Aaaaaaand, that is officially the end of all talk of Paul Daley ever holding a major title in MMA. The end. No more. 

We're not trying to bag on "Semtex" after a loss (we've never liked him) but this last 5 win "Bellator run" was still not enough and at 33 Paul is readying to exit his prime. The Brit won't be climbing the 2nd tier league's mountain and Daley will always be a big hitter who cannot contend with fighters who have the slightest grasp of a ground game. He never evolved.

Lima is now 9-2 for Bellator and trapped. He's already lost to the champ and now is just spinning his wheels. If ever there was anyone who could use a change of scenery to the UFC, it's him. Dougie could be welcome blood at 170 up north but he'll likely end up facing Champion Andrey Koreshkov in a rematch.

Matt Mitrione  TKO’d Oli Thompson via Punches at 4:21 of the 2nd round.

MMAFO's beloved Mitrione journeyed across the pond to face the former "Strongman." Matt was dangerously reaching with his strikes early but both men engaged in a melee. Mitrione drove Thompson back with 2 left hands and a big knee. Oli answered right back with some good punches and then failed at one of the most embarrassing looking takedown attempts ever! The big fellas were trading bombs and a right hand rocked Matt for a moment. The pace slowed when another uppercut woke Mitrione who pressed the Brit against the cage trying to wear him down.

The 2nd round began, and Oli lands a stiff jab. Both men looked fatigued and the action slowed. Mitrione initiated the clinch against the cage and then Matt unloaded a combination which along with exhaustion ruined Thompson. 

2-0 for Matty in his new home and he runs up the score on his account to 11-5. Mitrione continues to climb up the Bellator roster but he needs to tighten up game before getting a shot at gold. Lookin' a little sloppy out there buddy.

Francis Carmont submitted Lukasz Klinger by Brabo Choke at 3:54 of the opening round.

Michael Page literally crushed Evangelista Santos’ skull via Flying Knee KO at 4:31 of the 2nd round. 

Okay, what to say here. That was a spectacular knockout and the world is enamored with the Pokemon MMA fighter. Such a stupid world. Later we would learn Santos sustained a cracked skull in gruesome fashion. Geez that is nasty. We have to say we wish "Cyborg" the best of luck in his recovery and state that with "highlight" made us feel a bit queasy. 

Don't hate on "MVP" for the celebration. Homie knows how to get attention and he wasn't celebrating "Cyborg's" injury which he didn't yet know about. Stellar victory for "Venom" whose notoriety will only rise as this story becomes MMA legend. Possibly visually the worst MMA injury of all time. 

Young James Gallagher  defeated Mike Cutting via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

The 19 year old "Strabanimal" is the new "kid to watch" from SBG Ireland. Coach John Kavanagh has been hyped on this kid since he was 15. 4-0 and full of potential.

James Mulheron defeated Neil Grove by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-26).

Danny Mitchell submitted C.J. Meeks with the ultra-rare  Twister at 4:25 of the opening round.

Nathaniel Wood tapped Chase Morton via Rear Naked Choke at 3:55 of the final round.

Jason Radcliffe KO'd Jack Mason by Knee.

Luiz Tosta versus Dean Garnett was scored a Majority Draw (29-27, 28-28, 28-28).

Pietro Menga KO'd Spencer Hewitt via Punch at 0:41 of round 1.

Michael Shipman submitted Dom Clark by Anaconda Choke at 1:33 of the initial round.
