MMA pioneer and former UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Hughes was involved in a driving accident when his truck collided with a train in Raymond, Illinois, Friday (6/16/17) morning at 10:43 a.m. Hughes' pickup crossed, "directly in front of a train, and the train struck the passenger side of the truck." according to Illinois State Police.
Matt was airlifted to St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois, where he was "stabilized." Longtime manager Monte Cox confirmed that, "He's awake, squeezing hands, but hasn't opened his eyes yet."
