Credit to Aldo for showing heart and absorbing a beating, but Holloway poured the punishment on and Jose cannot fault the referee for stepping in when he was only covering up which is not proper defense. These are the rules Aldo. MMAFO have long been supporters of the underrated Brazilian, but Holloway took his best shots early and just stormed back in the 3rd round refusing to be denied. A great performance for Max and somewhere Frankie Edgar just woke from a deep sleep with a sudden urge to get back into the gym. "Fight of the Night"

Claudia Gadelha submitted Karolina Kowalkiewicz via Rear Naked Choke at 3:03 of the opening round.
Well, that kinda went as figured. "KK" just doesn't have the ground skills of Gadelha and it showed. Claudia dominated the Pole as soon as she got the takedown and now Gadelha is in the "Frankie Edgar position" of waiting for someone else to knock off the champ in her division to get another title shot.
Victor Belfort got a gift from the hometown judges to defeat Nate Marquardt by Unanimous Decision (29-28 3x).
No. No, no, no. We gots no love for "Cheatin' Nate" but he won this bout. Marquardt took a couple of good shots from Belfort but he definitely won the 1st two rounds. The judges fear hometown crowds. Especially in Brazil.
Now Belfort, who is not retiring though idiots continue to report it as so, will now head to Bellator for the Old Timer's League or RIZIN where he can juice his gills back to their fill. The guy is a cheater and is about to go back to cheating is what we're saying here.
Paulo Acosta TKO'd Oluwale Bamgbose with Punches at 1:06 of the 2nd round.
Yancy Medeiros TKO'd Erick Silva with Punches at 2:01 of the 2nd round.
Raphael Assuncao defeated (?) Marlon Moraes by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 28-29, 30-27).
Again, like the Marquardt/Belfort bout, this was a bad judges decision. "M&M" came in from WSOF to make a statement, and he didn't. Marlon should have been given the win but Moraes seemed to rest a bit on his laurels out there rather than going for the win.
Assuncao is still very dangerous in the division and you can be assured Moraes will be back. We're thinking similar to how Eddie Alvarez entered the UFC on a loss, and then rebounded to eventually win the belt. Either way, its the night the Featherweight division got shaken up and that's always good!
Antonio Carlos Jr. submitted Eric Spicley via Rear Naked Choke at 3:49 of the 2nd round.
This was a really entertaining bout especially if you are a grappling fan. Spicley put his grappling up against "ACJ's" Jiu-Jitsu and fell short. The Brazilian black belt has started to make some noise now on a 3 fight winning streak.
Matthew Lopez TKO'd Jonny Eduardo with Punches at 2:57 of the opening round.
"(T)KO of the Night"
Brian Kelleher submitted Iuri Alcantara via Guillotine Choke at 1:48 of the opening round.
The 10 year veteran who finally got his shot at the big time infuriated the Brazilian crowd catching Iuri shooting in and latching on a choke from which the hometown fighter could not escape. It was a quick tap and Kelleher then proceeded to mock the angry crowds chants becoming enemy #1 and putting himself on the map. A really entertaining post fight interview. "Submission of the Night"
Viviana Pereira defeated Jamie Moyle by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 30-27 2x).
Luna Chagas tapped Jim Wallhead by Rear Naked Choke at 4:48 of the 2nd round.
Deiveson Figueuredo TKO'd Marco Beltran (Referee Stoppage) after the 2nd round.
A paltry 5-7 on the picks.
9-3 on UFN 109.
