UFC Fight Night 113 Results: Ponzi, Felder, & Calvillo Win Big In Scotland!

Santiago Ponzinibbio KO'd Gunnar Nelson via Punches 1:22 of the opening round to pull the major Upset!

What a fun 1-round fight! MMAFO told you we have been watching this cat for 6 years and he still surprised us! "Gunni" landed the 1st meaningful punch which rocked "Ponzie," but Santiago got his bearings and badly staggered Gunnar with his strong right hand. Ponzinibbio then poured on the abuse and a straight left hand put Nelson unconscious against the cage for an emphatic end! "Gente Boa" has put the Welterweight division on notice!

* Now, to be completely fair, Santiago did poke both of Gunnar's eyes before the fray, but, that is the MMA game and though unfortunate, nothing substantial will come of it.

Cynthia Calvillo defeated Joanne Calderwood by Split Decision (30-27 2x, 29-28) in a close fight.

“Bad MoFo JoJo” landed her patented “boob boot” and was slowly finding the range as the ladies worked a patient pace. With 0:47 left in the round, Calvillo got her takedown and swiftly took the back. Joanne deftly reversed into top position only for Cynthia to get in armbar position. “CC” was trying to break “Dr. Kneevil’s” grip but could not as the round ended. (10-9 Calvillo)

The 2nd round saw Joanne keeping Cynthia at bay with her kicks as her nose began to bleed as it does in every single outing! Calvillo went for a takedown and earned a kick to the guts for it though “BMJ” is now bleeding heavily. Both women throw spinning backfists as the same time earning cheers from the Scottish crowd. Calderwood ended the round in control and out landing her opponent. (10-9 Calderwood)
* Calvillo was shocked by extreme cold of the ice bag put on her chest between rounds as she seemed to lose her breath for a moment which elicited a big smile and a funny moment.

The final round begins and Calderwood is keeping Calvillo on her heels though not landing with much impact. “CC” sneaks in a right hand and later strikes her way in for a takedown attempt but “JoJo” blocks it. With 0:35 left in the round, Cynthia finally gets that takedown and moves to the back of Joanne. Calderwood is hand fighting but Calvillo’s arm is deep on the neck but time expires. (10-9 Calvillo) “Fight of the Night”

Paul Felder KO’d Stevie Ray via KneeElbows at 0:00 of the 1st round!

The “Irish Dragon” just murdered Stevie with a left knee to the jaw of Ray who crashed to the canvas. From there, Felder landed 3 ferocious elbows that disfigured the left side of Stevie’s face. It was a brutal stoppage full of carnage. “KO of the Night”

* Paul’s father died before he started training camp and he was wearing his ashes around his neck. The Scottish crowd cheered when they heard his story and it was a nice moment all around.

Jack Marshman defeated Ryan Janes by Unanimous Decision (29-28 3x).

“Jackhammer” went to work quickly popping up the head of Ryan time and time again in the opening round though Jensen showed a very strong beard.

Jensen got back in the fight in the 2nd trapping Marshman against the fence and peppering Jack with short punches.

The final round was also close but the “Hammer” worked through a badly swollen right eye and kept consistent. Marshman gassed out late in the 3rd and went to the old, “I dropped my mouthpiece and now it will take an inordinate amount of time to put it back in,” trick and then got on his bike moving away from Janes until the final round ended.

Khalil Rountree KO’d Paul Craig via Punch at 4:56 of the very 1st round.

Roundtree landed a few short fists while Craig was against the cage and he went down like a sack of shit. Either Paul has no chin or Khalil has a ton of power. Prolly a little of both.

* After the knockout, Khalil showed disrespect for his fallen opponent by standing over him and scowling down. This, Mr. Roundtree, is how you become a villain and lose respect in the MMA community.

Justin Willis defeated James Mulheron by Unanimous Decision (30-27 3x) to make a successful if uneventful debut.

Blubber and titties were jiggling all around the cage but “Big Pretty” had better striking and earned a takedown. Not much else to say as neither of these men look like contenders.

FS1 Prelims Results:

Danny Roberts KO’d Bobby Nash via Left Hook at 3:59 of the 2nd round.

That was about as picturesque a left hook as you are gonna see in combat sports. Perfectly placed and goodnight to Nashy.

Alexandre Pantoja submitted Neil Seery by Rear Naked Choke at 2:31 of the final round.

Is Urijah Faber the only one who can retire on a goddamn win? This was a bit sad as Seery just didn’t have enough to compete with the younger Pantoja. Alex dictated the fight and really sunk the choke deep forcing the tap for Neil’s final fight. "Submission of the Night"

* Best of luck to Mr. Neil Seery in his future endeavors and thank you for the great fights you gave us.

Galore Bofando KO’d Charlie Ward by Slam at 2:10 of the initial round.

What the hell was that? MMAFO told you Ward isn’t very good but this was just embarrassing. Clinched up against the cage, Charlie went for a trip takedown and Bofando just threw him (with Ward’s own momentum) face first to the ground. Chuck’s face plant rendered him unconscious and that is a wrap.

* Can we wipe Ward from the roster now? The guy was not ready for the UFC and only got the opportunity because he's buddies with Conor McGregor. Let's give that spot to someone who honestly deserves it.

Danny Henry defeated Daniel Teymur by Unanimous Decision (29-28 2x, 29-26).

Henry left himself wide, wide open to counters but Teymur did not make him pay for it. Danny worked back into the fight wearing Daniel down for the win.

Fight Pass Prelims Results:

Brett Johns defeated Albert Morales by Unanimous Decision (30-27 2x, 30-25).

Leslie Smith TKO’d Amanda Lemos via PunchesElbows at 2:53 of the 2nd round.

A stream of blood ran down the right side of Smith’s face but “Lady Diaz” didn’t even notice as she battered Lemos against the wall until she quit.

MMAFO went 9-3 on the picks.
