UFC on Fox 26 Lawler vs. dos Anjos: Fight Card, Some Picks, & Odds

December 16, 2017
Bell MTS Place
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

MMAFO apologizes for half assed, half complete picks. No excuses but we missed weight, we were injured, and the lights got in our eyes.

Main Card on FOX (7pm CT):

Robbie Lawler (28-11, 1) +100 vs. Rafael dos Anjos (27-9) -110

What does "The Ruthless One" have to do to earn a rematch with champ Tyron Woodley? The vet deserved an immediate rematch for his resume alone (Johny Hendricks, Rory MacDonald, Carlos Condit) but was inexplicably passed over yet again after he went to war with Donald Cerrone in June. Robbie has gone 9-2 during his 2nd UFC run, and at 35, there is just enough time left for the bomber to reclaim the belt.

RDA is 2-0 since moving up to 170's and has seemingly returned to form after dropping the Lightweight title to Eddie Alvarez and then to current champ Tony Ferguson. Dos Anjos may be a tad undersized at Welterweight, but he's only 2 inches shorter than his foe.

Both of these warriors throw punches like the devil, but Lawler has significantly more power with 20 career striking finishes to dos Anjos' 5.

Upset Pick WINNER-"The Ruthless One" by Rd.3 TKO

Ricard Lamas (18-5) -260 vs. Josh Emmett (12-1) +240

Josh is a team player who is stepping in for Jose Aldo who stepped in for Frankie Edgar in the merry-go-round that is the world of MMA, but he's in very deep waters. Emmett is a nice story and all, but he's going to get bullied all around the cage.

WINNER-Ricardo Lamas by Decision

Santiago Ponzinibbio (25-3) -160 vs. Mike Perry (11-1) +140

"Platinum" Perry may be an entertaining fool, but he's also a fool. Mike is a crazy banger with power but there is an obvious ceiling for this fool. His frat boy bravado will get him into trouble that his chin won't be able to standup to eventually.

"Ponzi" used a smart strategy to defeat Gunnar Nelson last out. Poke out both of his eyes and blind the Icelander. Provided the referee is paying attention this time around, he might need a new strategy.

WINNER-"Ponzi" by Decision

Glover Teixeira (26-6) +140 vs. Misha Cirkunov (13-3) -150

Glover simply arrived in the UFC too late, after his prime and beginning the decline. Not that Teixeira hasn't done well for himself, but we've seen how far he can go already, and at 38, the writing is on the wall. The "Glove" is a slow and steady striker with some decent grappling especially if he gets top position where he murders people.

Cirkunov joined the UFC in '15 and MMAFO immediately announced him as "the next big thing." Despite a horrific 0:28 showing against the barroom brawling Volkan Oezdemir, he's done well marching through 5 enemies and finishing every one. Misha is entering his prime and the mistake against "No Time" was likely a good teachable moment in patience and humility. The Latvian is still an absolute monster and we fully expect him to be in the title picture in '18.

WINNER-Miesha "Monster" by Rd.2 TKO

Prelims on FS1 (4pm CT):

Jan Blachowicz (20-7) +165 vs. Jared Cannonier (10-2) -175

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira was pulled from the contest for a PED violation. This has been under reported in the MMA media as "Lil Nog" is a beloved old school warrior, but it should be noted.

"The Killa Gorilla" (His nickname, not ours. No racism on our side) has looked pretty solid thus far though he did get lamp'd by Shawn Jordan (which is rather embarrassing). Losing a decision to former title contender Glover Teixeira is no shame and moving down to 205's was a smart move. Jared has all the tools he's just been a bit slow to put everything together.

Janet doesn't have the excuses of Cannonier to explain his efforts. The Pole has gone 3-4 in the UFC showing moments of brilliance along ineffectual outings where the guy just can't seem to kick things up into the next gear.

WINNER-"The Killa Gorilla" by Rd.2 TKO

Julian Marquez (6-1) -325 vs. Darren Stewart (7-2, 1) +295

WINNER-"The Cuban Missile Crisis" by Decision

Chad Laprise (13-2) -140 vs. Galore Bofando (5-2) +130

WINNER-"The Disciple" by Decision

Tim Elliott (14-8-1) vs. Pietro Menga (13-0)

This bout has been cancelled as Pietro failed to weigh-in.

John Makdessi (14-6) +125 vs. Abel Trujillo (15-6, 1) -145

Why is cunt Trujillo still in the UFC? Notorious lying hypocrite Dana White stated in the past, "There's one thing that you never bounce back from and that's putting your hands on a woman."

"The prevention of domestic violence and the education of the athletes is of the utmost important to the organization," the UFC said in a statement. "UFC holds its athletes to the highest standard and will continue to take appropriate action if and when warranted. UFC requires all athletes to act in an ethical and responsible matter, as mandated by the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy. The organization will not tolerate domestic violence, sexual assault, or any other violation of the policy."
And yet, Abel Trujillo (twice convicted of domestic assault), Anthony Johnson (three abuse allegations), and Travis Browne (accused by ex-wife), all remain on the roster.

Upset Pick WINNER-"The Bull" by Decision

Alessio Di Chirico (10-2) -160 vs. Oluwale Bamgbose (6-3) +140

WINNER-"Manzo" by Decision

Prelims on UFC Fight Pass (3pm CT):

Jordan Mein (29-12) -160 vs. Erik Silva (19-8, 1) +140

WINNER-"Young Gun" by Decision

Nordine Taleb (13-4) -150 vs. Danny Roberts (14-2) +140

Upset Pick WINNER-"Hot Chocolate" by Decision
