UFC Fight Night 137 ? vs. ?: Fight Card, Pickers + Odds

September 22, 2018
Ginásio do Ibirapuera
São Paulo, Brazil

Hey. check it out. There is a UFC card this weekend though nobody is talking about it prolly because it's a burning shit show of garbage and nonsense. No less than seven (7) bouts fell through for various reasons including the Main Event. Nobody here attacked a bus or was associated with a Chechnyan warlord so here we are. The UFC yet again, promotes the shit out of but a few fighters while letting entire cards disappear into the ether without a word. Hot booking at it's finest people.

Main Card on FS1 (9:30pm/CT):

Thiago Santos (18-6) -150 vs. Eryk Anders (11-1) +140

So Glover Teixeira injured his shoulder and pulled out of the Main Event. His opponent, Jimi Manuwa then injured his hamstring and he withdrew from the event. And so now at the 11th hour, Thiago Santos and Eryk Anders meet in an improbable Main Event for no stakes whatsoever. Sheesh.

"Marreta" is making the move up to 205s (10-5 at 185s in the UFC) after a decent run at Middleweight where he found himself unable to make a real run at the belt. Santos is a great boxer with power but no ground game to speak of.

"Roll tide." "Ya Boy" is 3-1 for the promotion but when he "stepped up" to Lyoto Machida, he was found wanting. Anders is a former Alabama Crimson Tide footballer who is a natural athlete, big, hitter, and not much else.

So, these guys are going to have a boxing match which should be entertaining.

WINNER-Thiago Santos by Rd.3 TKO

Alex Oliveira (18-4-1,2) -410 vs. Carlo Pedersoli (11-1) +365

He's a cunt and a dirty fighter, he is the "Brazilian Cowboy." Oliveira is just the worst. Misses weight, cheats whenever he finds an opportunity, and blames his opponents for all his egregious acts. Fuck this guy. Seriously, fuck him. He'll win this and MMAFO will get angrier.

WINNER-Alex Oliveira by Whatever

Sam Alvey (33-10-0,1) -360 vs. Antônio Rogério Nogueira (22-7) +300

Okay, what fucking year is it? We cannot help but notice "Lil Nog" is on the card. Did we just travel back in time or what is going on? Rogerio hasn't competed since November of 2016 when he was (T)KO'd by Ryan Bader. "Minotouro" is 415 years old at this point but he was found not guilty after being flagged by USADA in '17. Nogueira has had a storied career (though legend is thrown around a bit loosely for our tastes) but the bloom is well off the rose and he's a robotic boxer at this point held together with masking tape.

A "Smile'N" Sam bout means boredom. Alvey is atrocious to watch as he stalks around the cage staring at his foes and throwing about 2 punches a round. He has knockout power sure, but you have to actually connect a punch to do anything.

This is going to be bad. Really bad. Expect a lot of jabbing at the air and circling for the longest 15 minutes of your life. Nobody wins here especially the fans.

WINNER-Sam Alvey by Yawn

Renan Pegado (36-6-0,1) -160 vs. Andre Ewell  (13-4) +140

Renan is in panic mode and it doesn't bode well when he comes into his homeland and misses weight. Badly. Terrible look. "Barao" once held the Bantamweight title but since losing the strap to TJ Dillashaw, Pegado has gone 2-4 and seems to be falling  apart before our eyes. The weight has been a continual issue but also it seems the years of fighting are beginning to catch up to "The Baron" at 31 years of age. Renan is a very well rounded fighter but it's hard to know just where his head is at now.

It's nice to have "Mr. Highlight" here to give some exciting performances, but this is a "get right fight" for Pegado. If Renan can't win here against a circuit fighter, it's over.

* "Barao" missed weight by 6.6 lbs. but the fight will go on.

WINNER-Renan Pegado by Rd.2 Submission

Randa Markos (8-7) -125 vs. Marina Rodriguez (9-0) -110

The "Quiet Storm" has been a bit too quiet as of late as she alternates wins and losses and cannot seem to find her rhythm. Markos is a solid wrestler who sometimes has striking, but seems to get trapped in a single plan of attack and unable to adjust mid-fight. MMAFO has always held a soft spot for Randa but the Canadian seems to have gone as far as she can go in the division.

The Brazilian is making her promotional debut of off the Contender Series where she won in a single round and brings in a nice looking undefeated streak. She enjoys Muay Thai attacks.

Randa could use her wrestling skills to ground and win this bout, but we think the new blood will find more of a flow in the match and win on speed and amassing points for the judges nod.

Upset Pick WINNER-Marina Rodriguez by Decision

Prelims on FS2 (7:30pm/CT):

Charles Oliveira (23-8,1) -400 vs. Christos Giagos (15-6) +325

Yeah so, this is a bout.

WINNER-Charles Oliveira by Rd.2 Submission

Evan Dunham (18-7-1) +190 vs. Francisco Trinaldo (22-6) -230

Evan Dunham is calling it quits after being a professional fighter for 11 years. Dunham is still competitive in one of the most competitive divisions in the sport, but at 36 years of age, he has decided to dedicate his life to other efforts and MMAFO wishes him all the best, and we thank him for his entertaining career.

This is likely to be a grinding win for Trinaldo, but the night should really be a thank you to Evan.

WINNER-Francisco Trinaldo by Decision

Luis Henrique Oliveira (10-4-0,1) +140 vs. Ryan Spann  (10-5) -160

"Superspann" graduates from the Contender Series and prolly gets the win here.

WINNER-Ryan Spann by Rd.1 TKO

Augusto Sakai (10-1-1) -210 vs. Chase Sherman (11-4) +175

"Jubbly Jigglies" fell out of Bellator so the UFC, desperate for big heavies, signed him. Okay.

Sherman may have his faults, but he's gonna bring the fight in an entertaining way.

Flip a coin.

Upset Pick WINNER-Chase Sherman by Rd.1 Flying Armbar

Prelims on UFC Fight Pass (5:30pm/CT):

Ben Saunders (22-9-2) +245 vs. Sergio Moraes (13-4-1) -290

"Killa-B" is here for your women and your soul! Big bad Ben won last out against the hapless Jake Ellenberger, and looks to continue to rep 10th Planet & ATT. Saunders is a great jitz player but those knees are still cocked and ready.

"The Panther" is underrated and a pretty slick competitor. Moraes is a bit more durable at this point in their respective careers and has the better striking. Sergio likely breaks our hearts but we're rooting for ya "Killa-B!"

WINNER-Sergio Moraes by Decision

Mayra Bueno Silva (4-0) +130 vs. Gillian Robertson (5-2) -150

WINNER-Gillian Robertson by Decision

Thales Leites (27-9) +105 vs. Hector Lombard (34-9-1,2) -125

A couple of time tested vets who are nearing the end of the line. Doubtful this will be entertaining but it is a fight on this card. So...

WINNER-Hector Lombard by Decision

Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos (19-5) -950 vs. Luigi Vendramini (8-0) +625

Uh-huh.

WINNER-Elizeu dos Santos by Rd,1 TKO

Livia Souza (11-1) -1400 vs. Alex Chambers (5-4-0) +925

We are finally living Livinha loca as the Invicta Strawweight Champion makes her long awaited debut for the UFC. "Livinha" is a solid striker, durable, and has great Jiu-Jitsu skills on the mat. The sky is the limit for Souza is about to hit her prime and the ladies of the division had better be prepared.

The Aussie "Astro Girl" is a pretty cool person but she is about to switch places with Souza.

WINNER-Livia Souza by Rd.2 Submission
