UFC Fight Night 140 Fight Card: Not Much To See Here

November 17,
Buenos Aires, Argentina

Main Card on FOX Sports 1:

#9 Santiago Ponzinibbio (26-3) -215 vs. Neil Magny (21-6) +195

Magny has hovered near the top of the division for a time now but has been unable to push through to an actual title shot. He's really long and has a nice jab but he's not so talented on the mat and in truth, he's pretty good but nothing special.

ATT's "Ponzi" is currently making his way to the top having won 6 in a row including nice wins over Mike Perry and Gunnar Nelson. Santiago is a talented striker as well but he's decently well rounded and these will be his peeps!

Ponzinibbio should win this. He's the more talented fighter and even if he starts slow, he'll catch up late and possibly earn a stoppage and a future opponent that people actually care about.

WINNER-Santiago Ponzinibbio by Rd.4 TKO

Ricardo Lamas (18-7) -160 vs. #10 Darren Elkins (24-6) +150

Here we have two Featherweight standouts who are on their way down as their best efforts are behind them. Ricky has been a top contender for the last few years but his title loss to
Jose Aldo was as high as he's ever going to go. Nevertheless, Lamas is a solid wrestler and decent striker though he lacks the fluidity of natural bumper.

Both are tough as nails but Elkins has earned his "Damage" moniker by taking hellacious beatings and surviving long enough to sneak out a victory from the jaws of death in dramatic fashion.

So, they'll make this super ugly but it comes down to whether or not you want to bet on the veteran on his way down who still has some skills, or the guy who just takes ass kicking after ass kicking and somehow wins. The luck ran out in July and MMAFO doesn't see it ever coming back. Pick accordingly.

WINNER-Ricardo Lamas by Decision

Khalil Rountree (7-2) -170 vs. Johnny Walker (14-3) +160

He may be a bellend, but "The War Horse" has been rolling as of late. He's only a striker but he's a motherfucker of a striker as kickboxing legend Gokhan Saki found out in July.

"Dyn-O-mite" (as we assume his nickname to be) is a bit of an unknown coming up from the Brazil scene. John has finished 5 of his last 6 wins (that are in a row) and seems to be a bit of a puncher-ton as well.

There will be boxing! Let's watch an old fashioned slugfest and we're picking Rountree until he stops knocking heads from shoulders.

WINNER-Khalil Rountree by Rd.2 KO

Ian Heinischof (11-1) +150 vs. Cezar Ferreira (13-6) -170

Isn't, isn't Ian a drug trafficker who did 2.5 years in a Spanish prison? Oh he is. Well, this is going to be interesting. Ian has seen and done some shit but is he a true MMA fighter? We shall find out.

"Mutante" is one of those guys we cannot pick correctly. Dude is somewhat talented but he has a glass chin and sometimes he doesn't show up and so we don't know but we can run a write on sentence like it's nobodies business so stay tuned for more genius commentary on the fights that will be going on Saturday so tune in.

WINNER-Cezar Ferreira by Rd.2 Submission

Guido Cannetti (8-3) +260 vs. Marlon Vera (11-5-1) -290

"Ninja" Cannetti will be the hometown hero but other than that, does anybody care about this fight?

WINNER-Marlon Vera by Decision

#10 Cynthia Calvillo (8-1) +150 vs. Poliana Botelho (7-1) -160

CC hasn't had a good run of life as of late. Calvillo suffered her 1st professional loss last December to Carla Esparza, then was suspended for marijuana which at this point in the history of man, is moronic, and then she got her monthly and had to almost be carried to the scale to still miss weight by 2 pounds. Not good and though MMAFO loves us some Carla, that is still unprofessional and must be corrected in the future.

Anywho, Calvillo is a Team Alpha FeMale fighter who is learning the striking game while depending on her great wrestling skills.

"Pretty Polly" fights out of Nova Uniao (remember them?) who hasn't shown much so far. She got a knockout sure, but she hasn't shown any skills that wow us.

Provided she didn't leave her soul on the scale, CC should get this even if she is forced to lean on her wrestling for a slower win. Calvillo is smart enough to know how to get at the very least, 2 rounds from the judges but we're just hoping her health is okay.

Upset Pick WINNER-Cynthia Calvillo by Decision
